OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be allowed when it is a threat to the mother's life and is medically necessary.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

I will support any legislation that protects an unborn child's life, as long as it does not threaten the mother's life.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

Yes

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Neutral

I believe the government interferes with the free market system too much already, resulting in making the poor, poorer, and the wealthy, richer. In one sense the government should do more with policies that encourage small business, entrepreneurship, and innovation, rather than over regulating. Equal access to quality K-12 education, including vocational training, should be supported through government policy, including expanding school choice.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I need to learn more about the tax code before I could comment on this.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Some tax payer funded higher education makes sense, in situations where this will inevitably benefit the entire community by reducing dependency on government and by stimulating the economy. It should never be guaranteed, as this would likely lead to waste of tax payer funds.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

We all should have the freedom to do business with whomever we chose: customers and business owners alike. The free market system will work, if we let it.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

I can hardly imagine, but perhaps if the building is condemned due to be dangerous to enter. However, the church should be able to hold services at an alternative location.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

One should not have authority over the other. This does not mean however, that individuals cannot express or exercise their beliefs in the public arena.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

None of these answers fits. I believe that improving access to quality healthcare is an important issue that we will be able to solve when we can honestly work together toward this goal, without special interests and political concerns interfering. There are problems with tax-payer funded healthcare, such as over regulation and waste. However, in a compassionate society we don't let people die for lack of medical attention. This will take more than a simple answer to solve. I certainly do not want to lose my Medicare, after spending my entire working life paying into the fund, just like any insurance policy.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I do not believe there is any circumstance where a government entity should be allowed to do require vaccinations. It seems that special interests have too much hold over public health policy, demonstrated by the current censorship of different views of many qualified, respected sources. I believe that all information about any vaccine, from all sources, should be available for discussion and debate, without censorship. Individuals should be free to decide for themselves and private business should be allowed to set policy for their own businesses. Consensus, without freedom of information, isn't consensus.

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

The more choice of schools a parent has, the better the quality of education will be for everyone.

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

There is no situation when a parent should lose their right to know what their child is being taught, unless they have legally lost all parental rights due to neglect or abuse.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

They should not be restricted, unless they are preventing others from speaking or preventing the orderly running of the meeting.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Without a framework of morality, our government system cannot work.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I believe this would cause discrimination in different forms. I believe current laws against discrimination based on sex should provide adequate protection for this class of individuals.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

We live in the least racist, most diverse, and most fair nation in the world. While prejudice and discrimination still exist, we keep improving and will keep improving, because that's what our country is based on.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in the One God, Creator, the source of all life, that lives inside each unique human being. I believe we humans are all limited and imperfect and therefore we need Jesus, our Savior, in order to reach our true, eternal state of oneness with our Creator, which is heaven.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Anyone qualified to vote as a citizen that needs assistance in obtaining a photo ID to vote, should be given this assistance, using tax payer funds, if needed.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I would propose banning the use of drop boxes; requiring paper ballots be used and preserved for audits; and require photo ID both for in-person, and mail in voting. Access to non-partisan election monitors should be protected. Voter rolls should be updated regularly. Many laws already exist that need to be enforced by better legislative oversight of the state election boards. At the same time, access to in-person voting should be provided more equally in different communities and neighborhoods so that it does not require waiting in long lines to vote in just some locations. Only citizens should be allowed to vote, because non-citizens are more vulnerable to being misguided and misused.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

It is not a threat because it is not endemic.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

There is no simple answer to this. Again, there is widespread censorship of public debate on environmental issues, suppressing the opinions of qualified specialists who do not agree with the Administration's positions. Some environmental laws hurt the economy unnecessarily, more than others, and some help the environment more than others. If we destroy our natural resources, this of course will eventually hurt the economy as well as health and quality of life. The problem is that special interests are directing public policy and not allowing free and open debates so that the public can make educated decisions about what priorities they want their elected Representatives to pursue.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The purpose of government is to represent the interests of the voters who elected them.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

I do not have this type of material as I am not a public figure.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

. In Buncombe County, we find the same fight for freedom as in Washington. I believe, like most of you, we have the ability to direct and improve our own lives as long as our God given “inalienable rights” are not taken from us. But the far Left is telling us that we need centralized, bureaucratic control over every aspect of our lives. This is why I put my name on the ballot for this November for State House District 116. I believe that: 1) Parents should have a voice in what, where, and how their child is taught. Curriculum should not be from the CRT lens that Whites are oppressors and Blacks are victims; this plants seeds of distrust and hatred. School choice should be allowed; it improves the quality of education for everyone, just as the free market system improves the quality of goods and services. 2) The war of misinformation on fossil fuels must stop. The solar and wind technology does not yet exist to make these viable alternatives without natural gas and nuclear energy. Yes, we must invest in greener energy, but with research and development and truth-telling. 3) We need election integrity so that we can have confidence in our elections. That means, photo ID, and no drop boxes for ballots. 4) To create prosperity for everyone, we must support small business and free enterprise with sensible, limited regulations and red tape while protecting our resources and the natural beauty of our mountains. Over the past 30 years, as a school counselor, mental health worker, and family advocate, I learned how to support and empower children and their families to be healthy and to reach their own goals. I did this by listening and respecting the individuals I was there to serve. I have worked to protect the natural environment by serving on non-profit boards for the environment – Clean Water for North Carolina and The Southern Appalachian Biodiversity Project. I learned how racial prejudice was affecting my fellow citizens by participating in the Build Bridges Program. This eye-opening experience inspired me to serve as the Co-Chair of their Board of Directors. We can be frustrated, angry and lose sleep, or take action and elect me for State House District 116. I support: parental choice in schools, responsible energy solutions, voter integrity, and compassionate fiscal responsibility which focuses on the true needs of hard working North Carolinians, while protecting our resources for the future.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Police need adequate funding. However, we also need mental health professionals to be involved in some form when responding to dangerous situations that have mental health as their root cause. One possible model has specialized police units, who are additionally trained, and when needed, collaborate, with mental health services, to respond in these situations.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Individuals convicted of violent felonies should have some restrictions. Individuals who are known to be a danger to themselves or others due to mental illness, should also have some restrictions, but we must be careful that these regulations could not be abused to take away anyone's rights without due cause.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

That would be equivalent to suing a car manufacturer when a drunk driver injured someone.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?

Yes

I believe that children should not be allowed to medically alter their birth sex. Since boys would then go through puberty, they would have an unfair advantage in girl's sports.
