QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
As a Physician, I believe in the sanctity of life but at the same time, I do not want patients with a terminal illness or injury to needlessly endure excruciating pain and suffering. With that in mind, I would consider some form of legislation (with safeguards in place) that would allow one the right to end their own life.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Due to the availability of birth control pills, the morning after pills, and in many states, the availability of early removal of the yet-to-be child, therefore abortions should be rare if ever, and never be paid for by the taxpayer.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I would encourage a flat tax with few if any exemptions. I would also encourage the elimination of all tax havens, and dodges, including but not limited to charitable foundations and endowments.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
What took place during the pandemic was unacceptable; religious institutions should never have been required to close. Religious institutions and the freedom to assemble are sacrosanct and protected by our Constitution.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
We should have no national religion, but we should be able to exercise our personal religious beliefs publically.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I believe in choice. The government should never be allowed to require any medications or vaccinations without the patient's informed consent.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
None of the options provided are representative of my views.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
I select all of the above answers. We should sell the materials to those in need when it is required to allow others to defend their freedom and it's in the best interest of the USA. We should expect them to pay for those materials, and the support, if given, must be overseen. In the event that the country can not pay for the weapons and/or support then, we should lend them the money to purchase the needed supplies and they can pay it back with interest on the debts they may incur. The burden of their freedom should not be the responsibility of the American Taxpayer.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
Isreal is a sovereign nation and should handle its affairs as they see fit.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
We need to decouple trade with China.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Eliminate them and educate those entities that their violence will only lead to destruction.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Without secure borders, we have no country. No other country in the world allows its borders to be open. Therefore, everyone that would like to become a U.S. citizen must do so under the immigration laws on the books, with no exceptions. Everyone else that comes or is here illegally must be removed and go to the back of the line.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
And those who violate our laws should be prosecuted.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
That is too broad a question, so I can not answer this one.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
No more new laws are needed or required, as the Constitution says it all. We are all equal and granted the same rights.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
There is no proof of that allegation, and the facts show a quite different picture indeed. Racists are fundamentally racist.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in the Old and New Testaments and our Constitution as a basis of my spiritual beliefs and values.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Photo I. D. for the voters must be required to vote. Nothing in a Republic is more important than free and fair elections. Without a photo I.D., you should not be allowed to vote.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would require in-person same-day voting with paper ballots that allow one to review and change their votes if they mismark their ballot. In addition, I would eliminate all write-in ballots other than authentic absentee ballots requested by the voters before the election. I would only allow voting at voting places that will allow in-person photo IDs to be validated before casting their vote. They must be U.S. Citizens to vote in all elections in the United States.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism does not threaten the U.S.'s domestic security because our country is the least racist. We do have citizens that are racist, but for the most part, they are the exception. Most Americans who believe in the Constitution can not abide by racism.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
The definition of "conservative" seems to vary with the group that describes themselves as such. With that in mind, I have chosen "conservative".
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Check Ballotpedia. Articles I have authored in the local newspapers and such. Listen to my radio spots. If you would like I will send you copies.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am not a politician. I am an American citizen and Patriot. I’m a conservative, Army Veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and retired Physician. For the last 50 years, I was registered as a Democrat. Now I am running for Congress as a Republican. Currently, the Republican party better aligns with my beliefs and aspirations. I am Dr. Steve Chess, and I am running for Florida’s 23rd Congressional District, Ted Deutch’s long-held seat, as I feel it is my duty and obligation as a loyal Citizen and Patriot who has been called to serve. I will take no pleasure in having to move to Washington D.C. from my South Florida home. The signers of The Declaration of Independence mutually pledged to each other, their Lives, their Fortunes and their sacred Honor. Their sacrifices provide the Freedoms we all enjoy today. It is time for all Patriots to give back and honor them and their families who sacrificed so much. If you honor me with your support and vote, I will represent my Constituents in our Republic for the benefit of all Americans. It is based on the examples provided to us by our Founding Fathers and The Constitution. I am called to service due to the ongoing abuse of our Constitution, the Rule of Law, Federal Government overreach, and the outright corruption by the status quo elites in Washington, D.C. My purpose in wishing to serve, is my desire to provide you with knowledge and truth. Thereby allowing us to bring our oversized and corrupted government to heel. You and others who love our Republic must do as I am doing and get involved instead of complaining about our current situation. My wife and family have agreed to allow me to offer up my service to “We the People” in order to help form a more perfect Union. I do so with the knowledge that I am sacrificing the precious years I have left on earth to allow me to stop the policies of hate-filled, godless, divisive Democrats and RINOs. This is a call to action for all Patriots as I need you to get off your butts and help me flip a long-held Democrat seat in Congress. I don’t want to waste your time with the usual political stump speech, full of platitudes and promises of free stuff. Please remember the Federal Government produces nothing. They take from you to “redistribute” to others so the Washington D.C. elites can buy votes and maintain their positions and titles. To give you “free stuff,” the government must confiscate your earnings (by taxation) and give it to themselves and others. This is intentionally done to enslave the citizenry and take away your liberties and freedoms as you become increasingly dependent on the Federal Government’s “handouts.” I love this Country and the opportunities provided for me and every Citizen in our Republic, I will not go quietly into the night, I will stand firm and fight for Our Republic and the Freedoms we were endowed with. When elected I will always do what is in the best interest of America. Have you had enough of the division, destruction, and disregard for our laws and our Constitution? We Need a Change Congressmen and Congresswomen should serve one or two terms and get out. They should not be entitled to pensions or other lifetime benefits for serving their country. This job should never become a career. As an America-First conservative candidate born and raised in South Florida, I will fully follow and uphold our Constitution. I am not an ideologue or a bully. I want to win your heart and mind with the quality of my character. I trust you to make the right move once you know the facts. You and I know that is not happening today due to censorship. I stand shoulder to shoulder with you. I support the AMERICA-FIRST policies of the Trump Administration. I support all Veterans (I served in the U.S. Army); no veteran should ever be without housing, food, and healthcare. In my mind, no one in our society should come before our honorable discharged veterans. I support the protection of free speech as provided in our constitution, and revoke mass media’s sovern immunity from legal liabilities. I will change our libel laws that allow for untrue statements leveled at a statesman to be challenged if false with a penalty prescribed by law. I will uphold our Constitutions to include election voter integrity and every amendment. I support our POLICE and all law-and-order officers. I support lawfully limited immigration policy as currently written in our laws. I support term limits, so we eliminate career politicians (signed pledge). I keep a balanced budget amendment. I support a line-item veto for the President of the United States. I support clean environmental practices. I protect and enforce free speech & our religious freedom. My only interest in this office is to once again serve my Country and you the People.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Follow our Constitution and current state laws. They are sufficient. Nothing more needs to be done. It's not the gun that causes issues, it's the shooter.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
