QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When failure to do so puts the life of the mother at risk.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
We need to decrease the dependence on property tax to fund Nebraska schools. We also need to make changes to our state's antiquated tax system.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would favor across the board cuts to balance the budget.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
We need to try to support those that can't afford post secondary education, but should not fund college for all.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
I see both sides of this issue.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstances,
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
At this time I believe Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. I would possibly be open to some changes to non taxpayer-funded insurance,
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
While I believe all children should be vaccinated for the normal childhood diseases, and I would like adults to follow current immunization schedules, I believe people have the right to decide if vaccinations are right for them.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
I have no definite answer to this question.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I have no definite answer, but at this time I would continue our current immigration laws and enforce them. I believe our immigration policy needs to be changed so we can have the immigration we need as a country, but still protect our borders. We need to make it easier for those that want to legally immigrate to our country, This might cut down on illegal immigration.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Disagree
While I support parent's and student's right to choose a school that is right for them, I don't think we can use public dollars to support these options at this time. It will weaken our public education system further, compounding current problems. We need to free our public schools from harmful and useless government regulations and allow more local control in our school districts.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in all things that we need to follow God's law of love. We need to love our neighbors as ourselves. If we would truly do this it would eliminate a lot of society's problems.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
I would be in favor of photo identification if the state would guarantee everyone who wanted to vote could easily get an ID
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I have no current thoughts
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No, but we all need to learn to love our fellow man regardless of race, creed, color or sexual orientation.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. We need to protect our environment, but we need to use common sense in doing it,
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is to establish laws, maintain order and provide security, protect citizens from external threats, and supporting our citizens by providing public services that make sense.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
None
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I believe we need to lower taxes. I would achieve this through smaller government. State government needs to be more efficient. This would help us to be a lower tax state, which in turn would help in economic development which will expand out tax base to the benefit of all citizens of the state. We need to support agriculture as it is one of the largest economic drivers of our state economy. We need fair, stable funding for education. We need to work on adequate broadband coverage for the more rural areas of the state. We need to find ways to make healthcare more affordable.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
Police officers should not be personally responsible for conduct consistent with departmental policy, but I believe police officers still need to be held accountable for their actions that are non consistent with departmental policy.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
We need to strengthen support of mental health and community programs but not by de-funding our police departments. Our police departments need to remain strong.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. We need to get the guns out of the hands of criminals.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
Only if a dealer of manufacture violates the law.
