QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Any discussion of abortion, right to life, time of life genesis, should be at home or in the church.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Choose not to answer

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe in a free public education system for K-12. I am personally not in favor of paid college funding or PreK. States can be proactive and provide funding, such a Georgia using their lotto funds for PreK and college funding. Also, I do not think college is for every student. Some are more talented for hands-on trades and are needed in these vocational/technical fields.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Neutral

When we speak of matters of faith, we must consider all faiths. I am a Christian, I would love it if all people believed in Jesus, but when I have freedom to speak about my faith, that gives others freedom to speak about theirs. I would be concerned for a confused teen to hear about Muslin, Hindu, Satanism, on campus.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Disagree

This should be personal and unobtrusive to others.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The local school board has a duty to be a voice for the people of the community. It is the elected body to make policy, budget, and superintendent hiring decisions.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

This is a matter usually determined by the state. Each adoption cycle for textbooks or curricula notification is sent to each school district and they have an opportunity to bring in vendors and publishers for review by staff and parents. After taking a vote, the district decides on the curricula that is best suited to their needs. It is a local decision, based on the guidelines from the state.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

When they become disorderly, personally rude, profane, or unlawful.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Language Arts Math Science Art & Music Information Technology P.E. American History Foreign Language

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Agree

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Disagree

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Agree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a child of the living God, made in His image, for His purpose. I am to reflect Christ in my actions. My call is to love God and to love others as Jesus did.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Disagree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Primary sex education should be taught in the home. That saying, in my strict Christian home, I learned about the birds and the bees on the school bus. When I got home I immediately asked my mother to clarify my info to which she told me the truth. I was horrified and would not speak to my aunt, who was pregnant, for weeks, knowing what she and my uncle had done. (Please note: I was adopted so my parents did not have to have sexual relations, in my mind.) If taught in school, middle grades.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

I'm not sure. I cannot speak totally on this answer.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Neutral

I have been a school principal. When we could not contact a parent and a student's arm was broken, we had to give emergency treatment. There are cases when this is necessary.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Neutral

I do not understand the use of nontraditional pronouns. I always used he for boys, she for girls, etc. I have read of school officials being sued for not using preferred pronouns. Probably everything needs to be in writing at the beginning of the year. The teacher needs to set out expectations for classroom using the pronouns that he/she will call all students by (number 1,2,3,etc.;).

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree
