QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In cases of rape or incest only
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Nationally, our country should move incrementally toward a consumption based tax. This would reduce the tax burden on average citizens and reduce the power of the IRS. Additionally, such a system would force legislators to honestly articulate their spending and taxing priorities. In Florida, we must continue to hold the line against efforts to institute an income tax.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
On the state level, I would reduce college grant spending by eliminating grants for college students enrolled in programs with low job placement rates. I would also work to reduce pork spending.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
Such funding should be guaranteed for K through 12 only.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Religious freedom is at at the heart of the First Amendment. Interference with such rights is only permissible in instances in which the state has a compelling interest and seeks to advance that interest in the least intrusive way. For example, in the event of imminent natural disaster, it may be permissible to close a church so as to not to put first responders in jeopardy.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
In the case of most vaccinations, the state of the law was and is agreeable to me and most Americans. With regard the our recent Covid debate, neither government, schools, or employers should have the power to compel the use of vaccines.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The Federal Government should generally favor countries and corporations that fight Islamic terrorism and disfavor those that do not. The use of covert as well as military force should always be on the table.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The Federal Government must secure the border and deport illegal immigrants. The current state of affairs is illegal, and ultimately undermines legal immigration of the laws of the United States.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Lawful citizens from anywhere in the world that do not have criminal records in their own countries, comply with the laws of the United States, and seek to become productive and patriotic U.S. citizens.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
I also support a more merit based pay system for traditional public schools and laws that prohibit Teachers Unions from participating in any way in the development of state educational curriculum.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Judeo-Christian principles coupled with those of Ancient Greek and Roman civilization form the basis of western civilization and inform my view of the proper role of government.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
The "science" behind the study of gender is very new and very thin. The idea that government in this country has forced this on children is appalling, and the long term effects of such instruction will not doubt be extremely damaging to children.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
Under our Federalist system, state and local governments have that authority. The wisdom of changing that definition is another matter all together. The Federal government lacks that power under a proper reading of the commerce clause, and the Supreme Court exceeded its proper role in seizing the power to define marriage.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT is, simply put, racism.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Greek Orthodox Christian. I endeavor to act out my faith as best I can. Without my faith and my family, my life would lack meaning.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would scale back early voting. My reason is simply that voters should vote only when all the facts are in on election day. Joe Biden would not be president of the United States had we voted exclusively on election day, as had always been the practice in this country. I would also advocate for a 48 hour Election Day holiday. Voting stations should remain open for 48 hours to allow for maximum secure access to the vote. This would cost money. I would support funding to make it happen.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. Racism is and always has been repugnant and wrong, but offers no serious security threat at this time. Statements to the contrary are generally offered by the Democratic Leadership in furtherance of their efforts to racialize all things American.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Giving something of value to someone in compensation for a wrong that they did not suffer as an individual, and forcing someone who committed no wrong to pay the bill, is inherently unfair. When done on the basis of race, it is racist.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A is closer but not exact. Conservation of our natural resources is very important, but administrative overreach in the enforcement of environmental laws is a real problem that hurts the middle class and small businesses.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The primary purpose of government is to provide an environment not dominated by criminal lawlessness so that people can come out of their homes and live free lives. Priorities such as helping the poor, providing access to education, and preserving our natural environment are important, but secondary to government's primary purpose.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am a Conservative. My Conservatism is informed by my faith and my adherence to those principles described in the Declaration of Independence.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I have been interview twice on WTAN Clearwater 106.1 FM. Both interviews are available on YouTube. One was conducted by Senior Voice America and the other on the Kelly Kelly show. On July 6th, I will be interviewed by the Tampa Times editorial board.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
• Support local law Enforcement: All the trendlines in law enforcement in terms of professionalism, responsiveness, and effectiveness, have been moving in the right direction for decades. I am a former prosecutor and academic dean that supervised a Criminal Justice program. I can say without any doubt that the recent treatment of our officers has been undeserved and extremely damaging to not only them but to those they seek to protect. • Support the School choice and Families: I am a family man first and foremost. The family unit provides the ONLY avenue to a better life for our children. I will support and work to pass those laws that empower parents, not the state, to determine what is in the interests of their children and which schools they attend. • Support Small and Local Business: I will work to support local businesses and entrepreneurs. For example, I will support efforts to roll back the recently passed amendment to our state constitution that requires an increase of Florida’s minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour. This law will have a devastating effect on the businesses we all grew up with both as customers and employees. • Address the growing homelessness problem: In recent years, instances of aggressive panhandling and loitering have noticeably increased in this District. I will support measure to empower law enforcement officers and first responders to address this public safety issue effectively and humanely. • Public School curriculum reform and school choice: I will support policies that prohibit the inclusion of teachers’ unions in the drafting of state mandated curriculum requirements. I will vigorously fight any attempt to roll back Florida’s public school choice statutes. And I will also support the prohibition of all unconstitutional race conscious teacher trainings and teacher education courses in all public schools and institutions. • Election Integrity: I will support all constitutional measures aimed at protecting the sanctity of the democratic process, such as voter ID requirements. • Tort reform: To combat skyrocketing auto insurance premiums, I will support reforming legal advertising standards and legislation to reduce frivolous lawsuits. • Protect Beaches and Public parks: I will fight to protect Florida’s beautiful natural environment and preserve our state’s beaches and coastlines. • Drafting our daughters: I will seek a legislative resolution condemning the forced registration of women for selective service and work to elect public servants that oppose Drafting our daughters. • Taxes: I will oppose any attempt to impose a state income tax on the citizens of Florida.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
With the rise of the racist BLM movement and it's support in the press, localities are increasingly unable to recruit new law enforcement officers. Opposing any attempt to scale back Qualified Immunity is my top legislative priority.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
This would be taking from Peter, not to pay Paul, but to simply waste these resources. Such programs have a place, but waste and effectiveness must first be addressed, before any additional funding is put in place. Further, any such additional funding, should never be taken from law enforcements.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Restrictions on those with mental health issues and felony records may be appropriate, but only if they are not overly broad and are consistent with Heller v. DC (2008).
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
