QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I'm pro-life with exceptions and believe life begins at conception. However, the current governor must agree and any legislation should have bipartisan support. Therefore, I believe a reasonable compromise would be restrictions at the end of the first trimester with exceptions for rape, incest, and a threat to the life of the mother beyond 12 weeks. This will result in less abortions and everybody agrees less abortions would be better as the US is in a trend line of record low birth rates.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Any public funding to Planned Parenthood should be matched to nonprofit pregnancy care centers.
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
I'm completing this survey post-Dobbs. it is critical that that the Governor and Attorney General do their job and enforce the current law. 20 weeks is too late, that is a fully formed baby that responds to outside stimulant. My son and daughter would both kick me at 20 weeks.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
Choose not to answer
I need to better familiarize myself with this option.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
NEVER!!!
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
There is no prohibition on church and state working together. When elected, I will propose all North Carolina school districts partner with the Gideons to place a Bible in each public school in North Carolina. No lessons, no preaching, simply placing a Bible in each school, much like the hotels. The practice of placing Bibles in hotel rooms has saved lives and there is a woman in Southeastern NC is a great testimony.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C: congress should address the problems with the Affordable Care Act. Its not the responsibility of states to pick up where they failed.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
For the Covid vaccine, NEVER.
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Agree
The tax system is weaponized against the working class, so tax reform and regulatory reform will allow the working class to scale up.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
We should accelerate the plan to eliminate the business tax. Business tax is only passed on to the consumer. The code should be easy enough a taxpayer does not need a CPA to complete their taxes. The Historic Preservation Tax Credit should be made permanent. Homeowners that wish to install solar on new and existing homes should be offered a tax credit for demonstrable evidence of lessening their demand on the electric grid.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
High schools should not be ranked by test scores alone. They must also include skills development and connections to jobs after graduation. Every high school should have some skill and trade training.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Strongly Agree
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
NEVER
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
NEVER
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
Police departments need additional funding for their own mental health support. Their line of work and consistent exposure to high stress situations slowly builds a condition similar to PTSD. We need to offer better preventive care to our law enforcement.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?
Yes
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To protect the God given rights every individual is born with.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I'm a family man, small business owner and I love my community. I'd like to make sure law enforcement is fully funded and fully supported from the state legislature. New Hanover County needs major investment in infrastructure soon, we need a representative who can build coalitions to secure the investments necessary to not have a negative impact on our state port. Without a new bridge, a failure of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in New Hanover County would have enormous consequences for North Carolina's agriculture and business sectors state-wide and beyond. We have to be able to build relationships with legislators in other parts of the state. Through her voting record and behavior, my opponent has rendered herself completely ineffective in the ability to get anything done for our community or the State of North Carolina.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'm a Christian and believe strongly that the family is the essential building block of our culture. The family and church built this country and will save it from the evil trying to destroy it now.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I'd like an analysis of the cost per vote per day of Early Voting. We know the first week of Early Voting has very low turnout, so I would be in favor of shortening the window of Early Voting in exchange for opening additional Early Voting centers in the shortened Early Voting window. The extended Early Voting period shortens the campaign opportunities for candidates and in many races, every vote counts.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I've seen no evidence of racism threatening domestic security in the United States.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A - but I believe there is a way to incentivize stronger environmental compliance for various industries.
