QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Personally, I don't believe ever. But rape and incest and the decision made between the woman and GOD. But never funded by Government.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
I would not support abortion of any fetus with that length of term, but I also really don't believe in abortion.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
As a police officer, I have attended many death investigations and I believe assisted suicide was done at several of them, although couldn't be proven. I do not support it, but know it occurs.
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
Yes
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Disagree
We are a free and democratic society and people are limited only by their own abilities and their desire to pursue the career they choose. Some people are money driven, others are driven by service, etc. I do not believe it is the governments job to lessen the gap, but it is their job to help businesses through de-regulation.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I believe we need to follow the tax codes initiated by President Trump. Under the Democrats our taxes have increased in ways that have affected everyone, but particularly the middle and lower classes. i.e. higher gas prices and taxes associated with them, their desire for bigger govt., inflation. I'd need to conduct more research in order to make an informed decision to see how it would impact the people in my district. Need a less-regressive tax!
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
Not every person is self-motivated or driven enough to pursue a college degree and persons would be able to take advantage of a system to obtain free housing, meals, books, etc. with no desire to complete it. I paid for mine through military service and others should pay for theirs.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
A private business makes their own decisions and rules.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None, no circumstances. People needed hope and prayer through the pandemic and churches were closed.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
They should be separate.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None, but my specific and foremost duty in the Marine Corps was in infantry/amphibious assault and I was required to be able to transfer within 24 hrs. to any warzone in the world. This required my having over 20 injections during Boot Camp. However, I do not believe in govt. mandates.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Agree
This is parent choice and available.
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
None.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Never.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Everyone is already protected under our present laws.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian Conservative and I believe in the teachings of the BIBLE and that is the word of GOD.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I.D. is readily available to everyone in this country for free.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I.D required, eliminate drop-off ballot boxes and expand number and hours of early voting places.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No, because it is actually a very small number of persons who engage in that activity, in relation to our population. There are those who push terrorism, violence, extremism and victimization in order to achieve their goals. But there is very little racism.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. BIDEN'S and COOPER's restrictions have hurt North Carolina.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
All governments have the purposes of establishing laws, providing order and security, protecting people from external threats and providing for general welfare. I believe in the original purpose of government and not what it has transformed into in the 21st century.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I have not given any interviews. I have attended various Republican events where I told people that I was a Republican conservative.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I believe in TERM LIMITS, No mandates, No, CRT, No WOKE and No RINO's. I believe in transparency in government, but I do not see it from incumbent politicians. I believe in an accounting and auditing of expenses. I act as a statesman, where I take responsibility for my actions, a politician blames others. I believe teachers should teach our TRUE history. I believe parents should be allowed to make their own decisions for their kids. I believe in the safety of ALL kids in schools. I believe that the State representative needs to take responsibility for his actions and keep the needs and considerations of his constituents in Johnston County in the forefront of every decision i.e. How will my decision and vote impact the citizens who put me in office. Also, I will be far more responsible as to who donates to my campaign whether before or after a vote. Anything that I do has to have the citizens within my district in thought. I will not vote on anything without reading it and understanding it. What I don't know, I will research and/or seek advice from experts in order to make an informed decision. I am a veteran, a retired career police officer, detective, supervisor, retired PA, BEI, Dept. of State and Federal Investigator and still hold an SSBI, cleared for Top Secret Clearance. I am a father and grandfather. I do not seek wealth, power or titles. I'd prefer to be called: Jim.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I am a career police officer, honorably retired from 2 police departments. Police rules/policy is there for a reason and we needed to abide by it. I've seen officers recently being indicted in areas run by Democrats easily motivated by people who attack the police and look for ways to defund them. Good shootings on the street that I know we would've been cleared by are now being prosecuted by liberal D.A.'s. A person was unjustly killed in the U.S. Capitol by a Dem. protected officer.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
Only in certain instances! Funds for working with people in crisis and the mentally ill are needed, but should be their own category. Funds are needed and departments should ensure their personnel are trained to deal with these persons. But trying to send social workers into dangerous situations is foolish and absurd! Additional funds are needed.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We have more than enough laws in place.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
No, I have never seen on any weapon I've purchased that my weapon was to be used for killing someone. If a seller takes due diligence in lawfully selling a firearm, after the firearm is manufactured and tested then it's up to the gun owner to safely secure it and how they use it. If firearms manufacturers have their weapons inside a warehouse for 1,000 years they will never fire themselves or hurt anyone without having been first picked up loaded, and used by a person with evil intent.
