RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
There is no circumstance that justifies taking an unborn child's life. There may be circumstances where a mothers health (as determined by a physician) is in jeopardy and may need to be considered.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Those funds should be redirected to assist with the adoption process, the care of a child and facilities that assist in caring for children.
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
I believe life begins at conception. Therefore abortion at any stage is not an option other than as it pertains to the mothers health.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
Yes
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Disagree
Everyone should be given the opportunity to excel and prosper. When the government gets involved in equity issues it usually results in taking from one to give to another or lowering standards. When that happens, one becomes less motivated and innovative, resulting in a less productive a society.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Some taxes to support the core function of government is a necessity. Beyond that the dollars should be left in the hands of individuals care for the family and to stay in the economy. Doing so will create a more healthy economy that provides job opportunities and economic development.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
A student should make a calculated decision about investing in their future. That decision should include the cost associated with the education along with the ability to earn the level of income in their chosen field to cover the cost of higher level education. There will be many life decisions like this an individual will face in the future.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
It is Freedom of Religion not freedom from religion. It is clear that government has no purpose in the church
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) but not necessarily in its current form. It is the closest option to what I think because some people need a safety net but the system is in need of an overhaul.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
none
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Agree
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
never
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Parents should always have a voice when it comes to the children's education.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Man is sinful and redeemed only because of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is received as a gift from God when accepted at His calling.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
It should be required as with many policies and procedures involved with daily life. However, there should be a means to get photo ID to everyone that wants to vote.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
With absentee voting we need to reduce the number of days to vote and clean up the process.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Race itself is not a threat because we were all created equal and in the image of God. The problems we have are the wicked hearts of men disguised in many forms. The threat we have is allowing division among us which causes destruction in society.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Protect the security and rights of it's citizens. It should be a government with the purpose of working for the good of all people.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I have served 3 terms as an elected official and publicly taken a stand on many of these issues in that role.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
no
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
1- water, sewer, and high speed internet infrastructure 2- economic development 3- modify tier ranking system as it relates to support and funding for our district. 4- improving academics 5- support personal rights and freedoms
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
There is or may be a need for programs to assist people with the challenges of life but that needs to be separate source of funding not taken from the police departments.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
No restrictions are needed. Gun ownership is a right. The problem with public safety is not legal gun owners. The problem is wicked people who will find a way to harm others regardless of laws.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
