RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am currently waiting to see what the rulings from the United State Supreme Court are concerning Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the challenge to Texas Senate Bill 8.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
If Roe v. Wade is overturned, then I believe North Carolina should introduce constitutional amendments to allow our citizens to be heard and to make that choice.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
No Answer
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
We should close the tax loopholes and ensure that everyone pays their fair share. Provide tax credits for the working families.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
All churches should be protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The government should be limited to interfering with churches mainly due to violations of the law, especially criminal law.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
Congress shall make no law respecting an established religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof… US Constitution First Amendment. This I support.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. Since North Carolina’s federal tax dollars are going to fund the Medicaid expansion in 39 other states and the District of Columbia, then North Carolina should look at bringing our federal tax money home and expanding this coverage for our citizens that currently do not have health care coverage.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
At the point when protecting the population as a whole out weight the rights of the individual. Military and the government employee might be subjected to some special vaccination requirements before the public. This is due to mission requirements and maintaining an available workforce.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Agree
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
All situations.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
If violating the law.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
America has come a long way in addressing racial injustices of the past. We need to recognize what achievements have been made and look for opportunities to continue to improve. Remembering history has its place, but we cannot let it prevent us from moving forward. I do not believe institutions of the United States are fundamentally raciest, there may still be some issue we need to overcome.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I do not see asking people to show an identification in order to vote as a major problem. The state has made it much easier for all citizens to be able to obtain some type of identification.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, we see racism in all parts of our society today. America has always been the great “Melting Pot” of the world. Our citizens are decedents of all the countries of the world. We are not Europeans, Asian, African, or Indigenous, we are “AMERICAN.” We were born in this country on this continent. Race was a construct of the past which was developed to divide us. We need to stop dividing ourselves by race, nationality, or country of origin. What purpose does it serve in our society today? United we stand, divided we fall!
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I believe that we need to protect our planet! Look at what is in the best interest of the public.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Our government was created to unify our citizens, provide justice, defend us, promote the general welfare, and ensure citizens have the right to pursue life, liberty and happiness. I support the Tenth Amendment!
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
None at this time.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
We need to support our first responders. Government has dumped many mandates on this group over the years without providing the financial resource to support these new responsibilities. We need to provide support to our police, emergency medical services and firefighters, when dealing with problems like mental health, substance abuse, social issues such as homelessness and child neglect/abuse. More local resource needs to be developed to provide twenty-four-hour, seven day a week, support to our first responders and communities. Due to recent events, we are seeing a mass exodus of our first responders. Many law enforcement agencies are operating with critical manpower shortages. Recruitment levels are at an all-time low. We need to support our agencies and find solutions to help address these issues.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Prevent convicted felons from possessing or owning guns.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
