QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Morally, only in a life versus life situation, but federally, I would not force a woman to carry to term in the event of rape or incest, however, in those cases, action needs to be taken before the heartbeat of the child.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Simplify the current tax code (too many exemptions, deductions, rules, and regulations) and lower taxes.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
Separation of church and state is meant to prevent the state from promoting one church while persecuting another, and to prevent the state from infringing on the rights and freedoms of a church. This does not mean that religious men and woman cannot serve in government. In fact, such a notion is contrary to our religious liberties. We need religious men and women to serve in government, for they ensure government is operated with a moral compass that promotes and upholds the founding values of our country: faith, freedom, opportunity, and respect for the Constitution.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None. If vaccinated, you were exposed to a disease and built immunity, so there is no need to fear the unvaccinated. If unvaccinated, once naturally exposed to a disease, you will build immunity, after which you will no longer be a threat to the unvaccinated. I oppose vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, mandatory testing, and mask mandates. I believe in medical freedom.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I support option C since abolishing Medicaid and Medicare would result in too many people losing health coverage. We do need to open health care across state lines to increase competition, we need to lower the cost of COBRA coverage, and we create artificial group health plans based on employment or geographic data to provide more affordable coverage to those who are self-employed, change jobs often, or are not offered coverage through their employer.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
My views align mostly with option C, but I believe we need to keep our options open on a case-by-case basis to protect democracy and freedom in the world. I support an America First agenda, but one that has the power to maintain our global interests.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
We need to closely monitor any potential threats to ensure the United States and our allies are safe. While I hope that we are never drawn into another war on terror, we cannot say so for certain, as doing so would embolden our enemies.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I only support legal immigration. Along our border, we need to build the wall to prevent illegal entry, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. We also need to add centers along the wall where individuals can receive assistance in navigating through the legal immigration process while waiting on the other side.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
We already should not discriminate against any man or woman, so I am not sure why this is needed, but I can respect it so long as it does not infringe on the religious beliefs of others in operation of a faith-based business, school, or church.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am an imperfect Christian who loves Jesus Christ and believes in treating people with love and respect no matter their imperfections, while also standing true to my values and not compromising those values when it comes to public policy.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
If we need photo ID to open a bank account and fly on a plane, then requiring photo ID to vote is even more essential, for we must validate the identity of the individual to ensure all votes are counted once and only once.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
We need to require photo ID, prohibit ballot harvesting, secure drop boxes, eliminate electronic voting machines, and ensure every state audits their voter rolls to ensure all voters have a valid, accurate, and up-to-date address, phone number, and email on file with their state.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No, but we do need to ensure that children receive a better education based on their individual needs, along with career training and finance classes, to ensure that all Americans have equal opportunity. We need stronger families and better neighborhoods.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
I support all types of energy in our free market in order to keep energy costs low for American families.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I believe in a mixed approach that retains jobs and keeps our economy strong, while respecting our air, land, and water. Some regulations are good to prevent corporate abuse, while others are excessive and hurt American families.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I view myself as a Constitutional Conservative who is compassionate and respectful to all people but will not compromise my values and beliefs.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Please visit my website at votechuba.com or contact one of the local Republican clubs in Duval, Nassau, or Clay.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No. Neither.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I write benefit contracts for a health insurance company, which I believe will make me a good legislator, and I am a deacon and youth leader at my church, which I believe will make me a good servant to the people. I will always place the people above lobbyists and the political elite.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
Police Officers and Correctional Officers need to make quick decisions to protect their life and the lives of those around them. So long as they act with integrity in accord with their departmental policies, I believe they deserve our full support.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Focusing on education, community programs, and attending to the spiritual and mental health of our youth are important in creating a culture that respects life, property, and differences of opinion, but I will not do so at the expense of police departments, for doing so only increases crime and violence in neighborhoods.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. The Constitution says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. We should protect our schools with armed security and restore the values of prayer and family in society.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
We would not sue a car manufacturer or beer manufacturer for a DUI. Likewise, we should be able to sue a gun manufacturer for gun violence, for it is not the object that kills another, but the person who chooses to commit an act of pure evil in their own free will.
