QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Disagree
I support a federal standard that guarantees access to abortion, as the current state-level regulatory landscape has devolved into a profound national health and human rights crisis. Relying on state-by-state regulation has not "settled" the issue; instead, it has created a dangerous patchwork of laws that strip millions of people of bodily autonomy based solely on their zip code
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
As someone who is pro-choice, I believe schools are not the appropriate setting to handle situations involving an unwanted pregnancy. These are deeply personal and medical matters that require professional healthcare guidance, privacy, and informed consent. Clinics staffed with qualified medical providers are better equipped to offer accurate information, counseling, and safe care options. Whenever possible, parental or guardian support should also be required, as family involvement can provide emotional stability and help ensure that students receive thoughtful, comprehensive support during a challenging time.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means no posting of 10 commandments, no required prayer period, and no allowing religious persons to be counselors simply based on having a religious background without required qualifications.
ECONOMY
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Agree
I agree that broad student loan forgiveness can unfairly shift the financial burden onto taxpayers who did not take on that debt. Taking out student loans is a personal decision, and with that choice should come personal accountability. Rather than blanket forgiveness, the focus should be on meaningful reform—such as offering low-interest, non-predatory loans, expanding loan forgiveness for those who serve in high-need communities, and increasing grants for priority fields like education.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Yes to funding Pre-K through AA degree and technical certification.
IMMIGRATION
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.
Disagree
As it currently exists instead of prioritizing public safety, ICE relies on aggressive arrest quotas that encourage unlawful behavior by agents. Furthermore, the administration displays a troubling bias by turning a blind eye to legitimate asylum claims while creating specialized preferences for groups like white South Africans—a clear violation of the principle of equal application of the law.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Disagree
While access to these resources are important, school is not the appropriate venue to provide them.
Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Agree
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Neutral
I agree that educators should provide students with a thorough understanding of America’s founding documents, including their historical context, principles, and lasting impact. A strong civic education helps students think critically and engage meaningfully in society. However, actively cultivating patriotism in the classroom can feel like promoting a particular viewpoint. Schools should aim to foster informed, independent thinkers rather than encourage a specific sense of nationalism. By prese
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Disagree
I respectfully disagree with eliminating the U.S. Department of Education. While states and local communities play a critical role in shaping education policy, a federal department helps ensure consistency, accountability, and equal access to education across the country. It provides important oversight for civil rights protections, supports students with disabilities, and distributes funding to underserved and low-income communities. Without a national framework, disparities between states coul
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
Sex Education should be done with parental agreement and the content should be appropriate for the age level. Topics may include abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
It is discriminatory for a school district to cause academically eligible students to forfeit participation in U.I.L. competition when the student opts for instruction outside of the public school system.
Neutral
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Art & Music, Civics, Personal Finances, Vocational Learning, Information Technology, Foreign Language, Physical Fitness, Social Emotional Learning
Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.
Agree
School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Agree
I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
