QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Disagree

Resources like Planned Parenthood could be a valuable resource in the reduction of teen pregnancies.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Disagree

Human life begins a little later, when there's a humanoid lifeform. Until it can be classified as human it's just another function of the mother. After birth that lifeform should be given the full protection of the legal system.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

These are fundamentals of our economic system. However, it should be up to the government to protect its citizens from corrupt corporate maneuvers. Safeguarding the wellbeing of its citizens over corporate greed.

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Neutral

It's an interesting idea with many pros and cons, but I haven't looked into the matter that closely.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

All routes of education should be open to the public no matter the cost. A community that uplifts and takes care of its youth is one that prospers for the better.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

If students want to discuss religion amongst themselves, they should be able to do so. In my experience those were some of the most enlightened conversations we had at the lunch table.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

People are entitled to their beliefs even if those beliefs aren't what you believe. If those beliefs go beyond a moral stance and are put into practice, that might need to be revisited. The school district might have to reconsider that relationship with that organization or small business.

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

Schools shouldn't stop letting students practice their religion because they the subject is taboo.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The function of a school board is administer the inner working of a school district and to make sure that the decisions they make are in line with what voter of that district want.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

Teachers should craft the curriculum with standards set by the state education board. Resources should be allocated based off of what teachers need. That decision would then need to go through the school board for approval.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Ideally never. I'd say unless a parent or speaker gets violent or they threaten someone or a member, then they should be allowed to speak whatever they feel is on their heart. As adults, we should all know how to take a second to stop and count before we get to those extreme circumstances.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, American History, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning. All of the "Neutral" or "Normal" things, for lack of a better word, should influence what a student grows up to believe or become. An educators job is to inform students with what they need to know to grow and thrive. After they learn that it's up to them to decide how they use the skills they were given.

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Yes. Those are the ideals we should strive for In government and in our personal lives. Even if we never achieve them at least we said that we tried.

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Disagree

It's important to learn these things. What better place to learn these things than in an environment that already teaches students complex ideas. Therefore I think it should be an opt-out program. If parents really care and don't want their kids to learn it in school then they will make the effort to opt-out.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Neutral

I'm not exactly sure what this question is asking.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Neutral

I haven't read enough about these initiatives to make a determination like that. I do know that slavery and racism are very much apart of what made this country the way it is. They were there before the founding, during the founding, and after the founding. Their affect is still felt to this very day, in a very real way. Teaching Black history like that is American History and should be taught respectfully.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

Agreed, parents have many options if they don't like what their child is being taught and if they can act, they should.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a christian. I believe that all the basic lessons in the bible like, loving one another, not committing murder, and being a champion of inclusion can apply to everyone. I think those are just some things we all, for the most part, agree on and that's what I believe.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Agree

I don't agree with excluding someone from believing who they are because a select few don't agree. Its's a complicated issue, but I know that for a fact.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents ultimately, I think it might be easier on them however if students first learned it from a professional who is trained to teach. Students get the benefit of learning and being heard from someone whose job it is to listen and be concerned. Like I said before, I think Sex Ed. classes should be opt-out.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex. Consent should definitely be taught. I'm not sure about the last one. I could be wrong about what I think it means.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Neutral

Yeah, there are a lot of ideas taken from Judeo-Christian values that are implemented in our government.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Choose not to answer

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Disagree

If a student wants to be called something specific I feel like that's the least officials could do.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

Fraud in elections is very rare, when there is a mistake it's usually an accident or misunderstanding. Making our election more secure means updating outdated machines, and rooting out fake or uncredible news sources.

I want to focus on Title 2, Subtitles B,C,D, and G

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Agree

People with the best intentions will run for office with the best intentions.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Liberal

I don't know of any other sources than what was provided.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I hope everything here has made you wanna vote or at least participate in elections.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Strongly Disagree

Absolutely not. We should be trying to get guns away from school, not solve a gun issue with more guns.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

Schools already require vaccinations, I've taken a few in the past few years.

I support mask mandates.

Agree

I support preventative measures to make sure the spread of COVID-19 is minimal.
