QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

In very limited cases for example when the life of the mother is in danger.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

I would be willing to sponsor or co-sponsor legislation that prohibit abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected,

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

Yes

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Never

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

The Church and state should be separate.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.

iVoterGuide Notes:

After reading the question again, the candidate meant to answer "C".

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I believe there is a proven precedence for vaccine requirement for school attendance. However, I believe that there should be opportunities for individual exceptions. I don't believe employers should be allowed to require vaccinations, nor do I believe the government should require vaccinations other than as stated for school attendance.

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Agree

Move money from college college prep programs to career and technical education programs. Use Pell Grants to be used for non-college certificate programs and other reforms that would close the gap between college and other career-training programs. Allow schools to partner with specific employers to provide concrete education that leads to jobs with a sponsoring employer. Expand government and industry apprenticeship programs that recruit and train people for jobs in skilled fields.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

At the state level the General Assembly should continue to lessen the tax burden on individuals.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

Parents always have a right to know what their child is being taught in school.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never. I do understand the need for time limitations per speaker.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

I believe in mental health and community programs alongside fully funded police departments.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?

Yes

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The role of the government should be limited to protecting its citizens' lives, liberty and property.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Never held office.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My legislative priorities for NC Senate District 22 are investing in education, criminal justice reform, housing opportunities, responsible budgeting, advocating for veterans and their families.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

The Bible is God’s Word and ultimate authority for faith and practice. There is only one true God, infinite in perfection and love. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are co-eternal and co-equal in power and glory. Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became human without ceasing to be fully God and lived a sinless life and died on the cross for our sins. He overcame death and ascended into heaven. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. It is only through salvation that we can be purified. There is one universal church founded upon the Lord Jesus Christ and brought into being by the Holy Spirit. God calls the church to worship, evangelize, care for God’s people, and be light and salt in the world.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

North Carolina should enforce photo ID requirements to vote.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe that any type of extremism can be considered a threat to domestic security.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

I believe that arbitrary laws that promote a green energy requirement without the appropriately developed technology can cost jobs and hurt the economy.
