RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
We need more emphasis on effective birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancy. I believe that abortion should be rare - mostly utilized in medical harm, life of the mother, rape, incest, and child pregnancy issues .Colorado law is far from this ideal. In HD 17 constituents are split on this issue.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
In a more ideal setting, abortion would be dealt with tailoring the law in Colorado to balance medical, life of the mother, rape, incest, and child pregnancy issues. The issues of convenience for so many women can be addressed with better birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancy. As a state we must explore who receives funds for birth control and make sure that there is not a monopoly. My constituents in HD17 seem to be split on this issue.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
My constituents in HD 17 do not appear to support assisted suicide or euthanasia. As one who represents them. I support "do not resuscitate" orders on file from patients - but can not support assisted suicide or euthanasia.

ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Regarding the Colorado economy - HB 1311 makes the Colorado child tax credit available to income tax filers. I would like to see more such law-making that helps struggling Colorado families.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Colorado spends the most on education, health, unemployment and social service programs We can reduce spending on the social service programs by getting Coloradans back to work for good wages. We must plug more into business funding and workforce programs.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
Where will the money for free college come from? We need to increase revenue sources to the general fund to pay for such idea before implementing them.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
The sixties are over. Public accommodation were a direct response to rampant racial discrimination that rendered traveling and shopping difficult because of the Jim Crow laws. In 2022, All "protected classes" have enough resources available to receive services and goods from many places and recourse if discriminated against.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None. The freedom to assemble is a part of the Constitution.

HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options for those who want that. Americans deserve freedom of choice.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Schools should continue trusted precedents. Since 1922, kids have been vaccinated to attend school in order to protect public health. This practice has reduced the spread of disease. But this has not been true of adult workers at government agencies or employers in general, The handling of COVID has shown us that restrictive government rules around vaccination shrinks workforces and adversely affects economies.

NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Secure our borders, educate our communities and work at unifying our own people in our nation. Terrorism in the West declined substantially, with attacks falling by 68%. The US recorded its lowest score since 2012. Hopefully this trend continues.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
This movement in various forms since 1945 does not appear to be gaining worldwide traction. Recently, a U.S. federal court upheld anti-BDS law and this appears to be the new trend. We need to handle our business in American communities and let Israel and their enemies handle their conflict themselves.

IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Physically securing our border is common sense. Unfortunately our US Congress lacks this kind of sense and has not solved this issue.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We have plenty of laws and procedures for this subject. I am sure that those laws are fair. Let's just use them.

EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Agree
Those who desire charters, homeschooling or private school should have those choices available to them.

VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
Having read our Constitution, I tend to feel that our societal contract may have been inspired by Judeo Christian values but that we established our system of limited government on a broader understanding of morals and law that includes non-Christians. I am a Christian, but try hard to work within the Constitutional framework and secular traditions of the rule of law.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
We have enough protected classes.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
Cultural view and political views rarely align. There will continue to be debate around the issue.

Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Our country began in a way that was tyrannical to those of African descent, but our Constitutional framework has allowed us to address those issues and grow as a nation into the fairness that the framers intended. I do not support CRT.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christ follower and have been for many years. I do my best to live the golden rule - to treat my neighbor in the way that I wish to be treated. I am a New Testament believer but I seek to integrate Isaiah 58 into my life. I want to break the bonds of spiritual oppression, spread God's justice when I can, be fair to my workers, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take in the homeless while paying enough attention to my own family. All of these are about my personal lifestyle and choices. I hope to inspire others to do the same. Running for office is about bringing a powerful amplification to what the CONSTITUENTS say about what they want and need in HD17. I have never prayed so much in my life. Pray for me please. Serving people the way that they deserve is not easy.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
It is common sense to have ID to vote unless voting by mail ballot.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
None. In Colorado we need to use the present laws and increase community involvement in poll watching and election judging. I am interested in researching and hearing the clear data on what else may need to be changed. I always choose bills to run based upon constituent input and data.

EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism in 1960 was a true threat to domestic security in the United States. It was baked into every law on the municipal, county and state level in Jim Crow and some northern laws. But in 2022, racism is a mindset of a few citizens that mostly shows up as an annoyance in personal interactions. As a black woman I look at the political/media outlets carrying this messaging about racism and recognize that this is the most harmful gaslighting of our generation. This needs to stop!
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations are given on the basis of rights being violated not race. This principle works on proven violation in a court of law. Examples of a group that received reparations are participants in the infamous Tuskegee experiments. The U.S. government paid $51.8 million in 2019 and agreed to provide free medical treatment to surviving participants and surviving family members infected as a consequence of the experiments.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Thomas Sowell said once "There are no solutions just trade-offs" Neither of these come the closest to my view. We need to balance citizen safety by having environmental laws and regulations but we also need to make sure that those laws and regulations are reasonable and not of prohibitive cost.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
I support fracking. From 2018 - 2020 our nation has been the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas. We were energy independent. I also support fracking being in more remote areas(when possible) as it is the safest for citizens. There is no need to kill this industry to launch green energy initiatives. Coloradans want a range of energy choices.

ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Government’s purpose is to be the representative - the servant, of the people. Government's purpose is to put into motion the general will of the people in policy and action. Government is not meant to be the master of our citizens, dictating it's own will over the voice and stated will of our citizens. .
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
I am a lifestyle conservative. But I feel that I have some range of thoughts on issues .This is mostly because I have a very diverse constituency.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
The law in Colorado does not support my view but constituents in my house district do. I am interested to see how or if that changes as law enforcement agencies continue to have recruiting issues due to Colorado removing qualified immunity.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
In Colorado Springs the mental health and community response teams are part of the police department, so there is no need to redirect funds. I support finding non-profit and other funding sources to establish programs in addition to these to address mental health and community concerns.

2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We have laws in Colorado that are adequate in addressing gun owners. The three requirements to purchase a handgun in Colorado include: Being a Colorado resident. Being at least 21 years old. Passing a CBI background check. We also have a law that asks gun owners to lock up guns when they are not in use. Those are fair restrictions/requirements.
