QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only in extreme circumstances when the life of the mother is in jeopardy and all parties Doctor, family, spouse agree it is necessary as a last resort

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

There is no Constitutional justification for Government to regulate church attendance or activities.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Complete border security measurements. Restrict and/or limit all travel from known terrorist supporting nations. Stop funding these nations with US taxpayer dollars. Place economic sanctions on any nation known to be trading with terrorist countries. Stop the importation of oil from this region and reestablish energy independence.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I believe all health care decisions are a private matter between patient and physician. Government should never have the authority to regulate health care

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

This is a very complex issues that extends past just the tax code. It's also a matter of waste and spending. However I am for the elimination of taxes of groceries (Food items only. No beer, wine tobacco etc). I also support a lifetime exemption of income taxes at both the state and federal elections for any military deployed in a hostile zone. Also there are numerous occupational fees in Alabama as well as municipal which should be eliminated. This is very short list of what should be overhauled

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

This is both a national and state level issue. In the state of Alabama we should eliminate antiquated agencies like the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Also redundant agencies. The State Auditors office has been basically stripped of it purpose by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts. Offices such as these should be merged.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

People that have been fully vetted and have a legitimate reason for being in the US. Reasons might include the presence of family in the US. The desire to invest or establish a business on US soil. I also believe the naturalization process should be streamlined, more affordable and required for any one desiring permanent resident status. (Political asylum seekers should be judged on individual need prior to arriving in the US)

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. Unless a crime has been committee all eligible persons should be allowed to defend their homes and property without interference from government. And without the need to permit weapons

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

You cannot sue a automobile manufacturer after an accident. Unless a product is found to be defective in its intended purpose no company should be able to be sued when the product they manufacture is used improperly or with malice

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To provide for the good of the population it governs. To establish security, (On numerous levels) regulate interstate commerce and provide and maintain infrastructure.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://ballotpedia.org/Michael_Hart

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

na

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I'm a States rights candidate. I believe the founders foresaw a nation of independent nation/states with individual autonomy. I'm for greater accountability with regard to spending. Also greatly improved education, the protection of our civil liberties including the right to own and carry firearms. I'm for lowering taxes, healthcare freedom, school choice and protection of the unborn

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

The US Constitution was drafted to govern a moral, fair and just citizenry.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Racism, bigotry and prejudice - against any class of people - are conditions of heart as well as intelligence. It's a frailty of human nature. As such institutions cannot in and of themselves be racist. The CRT argument also reveals a severe lack of historical fact and context

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a Conservative Christian that believes in the sanctity of life and freedom of religious practice and expression without interference from any government body or institution.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Where applicable: Single day only voting, unless absentee. No mail-in ballots. Full transparency of vote counting and auditing.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism in and of itself is not. The exploitation of race divisions and relationships by a state or federal government certainly is. This is the biggest reason programs such as CRT should have no support from any government agency or school board

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

African American slavery was certainly a dark time in US history. However this was not the only exploited group in our past. This argument also does not take into account the large number of free Blacks. Who would be entitled, how much and for how long etc. It also important to remember egregious as the practice was, it was legal at the time. The precedent for retroactively compensating a person or group that was done wrong according to the moral standards of today is simply not workable

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree
