RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I do not support government funding of such programs, funding can be acquired through philanthropic endeavors.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

This should absolutely be your right to choose.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I consider myself classically 'safe, legal, and rare' pro choice. I emotionally do not like abortion, but I don't know everyone's life and circumstance, and I do not believe in governance based on emotion. In my opinion, as far as the federal government is concerned, I would draw the line at up to the point of autonomy where if the fetus were removed it could realistically survive on its own. Outside of that it should not be a federal matter.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

I believe in the free market, and to the right of contract. We see the wealth gap grow most when the government tries to involve itself. Many places that use government to try to lessen this gap are the places with the most, and ever increasing, inequity. Emotionally, I understand why people think this way, but the Federal government WILL make it worse. Example, look at COVID lockdowns, the government chose which business could open, sent people checks, and we had a massive transfer in wealth.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Every time a new omnibus spending bill is passes, they claim that this will be the one that turns it around. Clearly it isn't working. We are going through record inflation and national debt. It is like using a high interest credit card to pay off gambling debt. We desperately need to wrestle government spending under control before we no longer have the choice.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Taxation is extortion. We all see the wanton waste and corruption in Federal spending, and more spending isn't going to fix it. I do not like the system of taxation, but if it must exist, we need to shrink tax code wherever possible and simplify it to the point where tax experts are not needed. It used to be this way; it is absolutely an achievable goal. I would also support changing to a flat tax so that everyone literally pays their fair share. I strongly resist current IRS goals such as creating an unrealized gains tax, or the $10,000 reporting rule.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

I support the rights of all people to practice their faith as they wish. I also believe religious text should never be a justification for the existence of a law. I fully believe in separation of church and state, but that America should be a place for everyone to live as they see fit. Government should neither promote nor suppress faith.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

I support the free exchange of goods and contract. I also support peoples right to believe whatever they want to, and I support the rights of others to agree or disagree with that.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

Total separation. Faith may guide peoples moral framework, but religious beliefs and text of any variety should not be a justification for law.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Only if you voluntarily and contractually signed up for it, such as being in the military. I am not 'anti-vax' but I believe in bodily autonomy and that medical decisions should be your choice.

Only if you voluntarily and contractually signed up for it, such as being in the military. I am not 'anti-vax' but I believe in bodily autonomy and that medical decisions should be your choice.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

D. I absolutely want everyone to have access to healthcare, but I truly believe that the free market has better solutions. If we fully socialized healthcare, then now the government gets to dictate what services you do or do not get (there's a reason that Canadians that can afford to come to the US for treatment). In our current hybrid system, the deficits of government funded healthcare transfer additional cost to others that utilize the same services. You could still absolutely have free medical service for those in need through volunteerism and philanthropy. If we get the government out of the way, then competition will greatly dive down prices.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C. Like many Americans, I am tired of vague regime change wars that are started based on lies. We should not function as world police. Our military should exist as a homeland defensive force. The only foreign involvement we should consider should that agreed upon by defensive treaty.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

I support both countries rights to exist. I also believe both have committed war crimes, and have done many things in bad faith. I would sympathize more with Palestinian forces if they focused more on on investing in their economic development instead of unguided missiles for targeting civilians. I do also personally believe that Arabs deserve the same citizen rights as any other Israeli. The unfortunate truth is that if there was an easy resolution to the conflict, it would have been done.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

My assumption is that the Chinese military is still in the state of being a major paper tiger, and I do not think this is their biggest threat. The biggest threat is their theft of intellectual property. The US has exported much of our production to China, and switched our focus to creating intellectual properties. If China steals these properties without consequence, what are we left with? What is the incentive to American creators to make new things if its going to be stolen?

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Western intervention has basically created modern Islamic terrorism over the last century. I do not argue that there isn't current threats, but I believe the best course of action is to transition out of our foreign involvement, and stop giving new generations of people reasons to hate us.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

I support the movement of people, but I believe people need to come through proper ports of entry. I am far from a closed border person, but you would have to be blind to think that our current situation is anything but a mess.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Neutral

I do not support the current cycle of federal taxation and funding. Regardless of sanctuary status, budgets should be balanced at the state and local level. They should not the at the whims of the federal government to prop up or tear down as they will.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe in peoples right to seek a better life. I think they need to do so the right way, and in the right place. I support immigration reform to make this process more timely, simple and streamlined. I do not support government welfare for people who immigrate. They are choosing to take the risk to seek a better life, and any support they get should come from private organizations.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

I support peoples right to live whichever life they so desire in peace. I would have to see the particular law in order to say how I would vote, as I support everyone's right to identify as they will but I do not think that should be a reason to give them an advantage either. I believe in meritocracy.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

I have read many of the core books that define our current views of CRT and anti-racism. Simply put, many of the people who promote this at the highest level are in my view, Marxist grifters and clout chasers. The US has absolutely done terrible things in the past. I believe that the best option for us is to seek a world of pure meritocracy and opportunity. Instead of focusing on the adjectives that describe us, the goal should be to get to the point where we just think of each other as humans.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Spiritually, I would consider myself a seeker. I have always enjoyed learning and experiencing the cultural and religious beliefs of others. I have spent significant time in over a dozen countries. Universally I have found that no matter our differences of faith, culture, history or language, people all just want the same things. We want to have happy healthy families, and to be able to just freely live our lives in peace. People are simply just people, and for the most part were all just doing the best we can in this shared experience. My values are based in my common respect for all people, even the ones I disagree with. I do not consider myself a paragon like some candidates; I am a fairly typical person, I have my great traits and my flaws. I believe in honesty, integrity and respect. I believe in the American values of hard work, self reliance and in pulling yourself up by the bootstraps.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

We need a way to validate votes. Currently the simplest way is a photo ID but if its not that it needs to be something. We need to be able to confirm that votes are legitimate.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I believe both sides of the traditional political aisle love to admire the problems in voting, and support systems that benefit their party exclusively. I would support bipartisan voting reform that ensures that our elections are secure, safe, and accessible. The American people deserve elections that they can participate in and that have such good integrity that it cannot be questioned, and currently we do not have that.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Neutral

If reparations are to happen, that needs to be a private exchange not government enforced. No American alive today took part personally in the atrocities that would be answered by forced reparations. I do not believe that the answer to past racism is future racism; I believe it is to find a way to move past discrimination.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Not significantly. Certainly bad groups do exist, but they are not popular. I also think the way the word 'racism' is thrown around in the last few years is an insult to true racism. I believe that shutting those voices down, like blocking them from social media, is the wrong answer. They should be allowed to communicate openly, that is their right, and then those who disagree can chastise and critique them properly.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

The cost/benefits need to be determined by the local people who live with the consequences.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Neither. I consider myself very pro environment, and to me that means doing resource extraction in America. We have self immolated our resource economy in the name of progress, while simultaneously exporting those jobs to foreign countries where they do it dirtier than we ever did; to some places where they still use slave labor, or where you can kill someone for being gay. Where's the outrage over that? I want resource extraction done here, where we care what the impact is, where we make good jobs and where we can do so sustainably with the lowest possible impact. If people do not support US based resource extraction, they are the worse kind of hypocrite and have no right to use those resources.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

I am a pragmatist. I believe in doing what works. I believe in personal rights and freedoms, even if I disagree with them personally. I have been accused of being both far left and far right, therefore I must be doing something correctly.

No

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I want people to be able to live how they want to in peace. My top goal would be to decentralize power as much as possible, and to ensure decisions are made at the state and local level where you actually have the option to hold people accountable. Half of America doesn't want to live the way you want them to. Accept that, decide it in your state, and accept that others will do the same. I also believe in all peoples rights to live how they want and that people should not be using the federal government to dictate their morality over others. The hard truth of our current political state is that it took both republicans and democrats to get us 20 years of war, and 30 trillion in debt. We are culturally about as divided as we ever have been. The stakes could not be higher, and if we collectively cannot make a major change in how we conduct politics soon, then I am pessimistic for what the future holds for us.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

I fully understand that its easy to be armchair quarterback, and that law enforcement personnel cannot be martial arts experts, lawyers, medics, and sharpshooters all at the same time. It's a tough job. We have also seen far too well in the last few years that qualified immunity can result in some very bad outcomes. If LE makes a call, there needs to be a good justification, or they need to have accountability for what they are doing, same as anyone else.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Neutral

I support communities making those decisions for themselves. A community organizer is likely not going to be equipped to deal with many of the things that law enforcement has to deal with. I think the money would be best spent in better training opportunities for LE so that they are qualified to do all the things we expect them to. I would also like to throw in at this point that I fully believe in ending the war on drugs, clearly its not working.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I do not support restrictions on gun ownership, and would actively fight back on many that currently exist such as the NFA. We don't have a gun issue, we have a mental health issue. I firmly believe in the original intent of the 2A, that we have the right to defend ourselves as we see fit, and that we are all 'the militia' the bill of rights refers to.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

This is a blatantly absurd point of view. You should not be able to sue a manufacturer for misuse of a tool. If the gun malfunctioned, then sure they are liable. But as for shootings absolutely not, that's a person that did that horrible act. Can you sue a liquor manufacturer for getting too drunk and injuring yourself in a fall? Can you sue a car manufacturer for drunk driving? This argument is purely an attempt to make firearm ownership prohibitively hard and expensive.
