RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I think this is a very private matter. I believe the choice is between a woman and her doctor. However, I believe abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. More education in our schools, and at home are a must. Providing education about pregnancy and disease starts at home. Teaching morality starts at home. Right now, in our country, women of color are dying during childbirth at third world rates. Womens health issues should be one of our top priorities.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
We need greater incentives to stimulate our work force to create jobs, such as payroll tax cuts. Also, cut tax rate for small businesses.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Comprehensive targeted cuts of Democratic "pork" programs.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am a candidate for State Representative in the new 3rd District. To a campaign focused on discussing the issues that matter most to the voters of the 3rd district. During my campaign, I will continue to present the facts clearly and honestly. My plan begins with safety at home-which means safe neighborhoods and schools, reducing crime throughout Dearborn, Melvindale, Detroit and protecting our police and first Responders. There can never be prosperity without law and order. The recent attacks on our police and first responders threaten our very way of life. My mission is to go to work for the Citizens of the 3rd District. It is time to make government work for the people. I will help secure dollars to ensure that the 3rd District gets its share of our states BILLIONS of DOLLARS in surplus funds. I will ensure these dollars go directly back into our community. My priorities are focused on correcting the critical needs in the 3rd District; a district that includes some of the most polluted zip codes in the nation, which affects the drinking water our children consume and impacts the quality of all our lives. That is why in order to transform my priorities into reality, I will work to ensure millions are allocated to replace existing lead pipes, to monitor contaminates in our drinking water, stormwater and wastewater and to help our disadvantaged parts of the district to increase drinking water infrastructure projects. My other priorities include delivering dollars from Lansing for public transportation projects and to expand affordable housing for people impacted by COVID-19. Tax reform is a pivotal part of this equation as well. While I acknowledge that my priorities are not alluring, they address some of the most critical needs and fundamental issues affecting the citizens of every corner of the 3rd District, from Dearborn to Melvindale to Detroit. I have no tolerance for government incompetence, no patience for injustice and no sympathy for prior leaders who have failed their citizens of our district. I will work to deliver dollars from Lansing directly back into our communities. This includes rebuilding our infrastructure by rebuilding the roads, highways, bridges, and railways of tomorrow. In turn, this will help create more jobs in the district. I will also work to rescue kids from failing schools by helping their parents send them to safe schools of their choice. To every parent who dreams for their child and every child who dreams for their future. I make this promise to you: I will fight for you. I will fight to lower property taxes. Increase funding for our schools. Increase funding for our police and fire departments and all first responders. I will fight to increase funding for our veterans and seniors. God Bless the voters of the 3rd district and all districts. and God Bless the United States of America! VOTE GINGER L. SHEARER FOR 3RD DISTRICT STATE REPRESENTATIVE
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Mental Health and Community programs should be funded by its own divisions of government and funds should not be redirected out of the Police Department for these purposes.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Law enforcement, at the local level, needs additional funding to remove illegal weapons from criminals and individuals that are not eligible to possess guns. Thorough background checks should be done. Appropriate training, education, technology, and other resources need to be available to keep illegal weapons and guns out of our neighborhoods and out of the hands of those who should not have access to them.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
Guns DO NOT shoot people. Lawless people shoot people.
