QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only in medical circumstances when it will save the mother's life.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The goal of tax policy should be to fund only the amount of money needed for legitimate functions of government and equal treatment of tax payers. The tax code is still too complicated. I would support a flat tax. Lower or eliminate estate tax.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Government spending should revolve around legitimate functions of government. Frivolous spending on instituting mandates, the subsequent court battles, typical "big government" overreach needs to be curtailed to stop wasteful spending.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Short of churches being used for illegal activity, or maintaining building codes/safety, the Constitution vehemently protects the freedom of religion and the church.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Vaccines are not a "One size fits all" for the populace. They are an individual choice based upon medical, religious or personal beliefs. I do not support mandates.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Properly define the threat, maintain intelligence efforts to detect, deter, and defend the U.S. and its interests. Find ways to defund terrorist activities on a global scale. Act decisively when a threat to US lives is located.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone looking to live in the greatest country in the world. However, they must follow the legal procedures for entering and applying for visas/citizenship.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised Baptist. I believe Christ died for our sins and that none of us are deserving of His sacrifice. We are all sinners that God chooses to love despite our constant failures. One day, believers will rejoice with Him in Heaven! Christ's example of loving your neighbor, standing up for others, having accountability, and not denying the Father are core principles from my upbringing.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Must present proper identification to vote, stop mailing of absentee ballots prior to application being made, allow for proper oversight of counting ballots.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a threat, period. It has no place in today's society and must not be tolerated by any of us. Anything that fans the flames of racism has the potential to cause domestic security issues. Tensions are high in some areas of the country and if we don't come together to treat each other as God intended, we will struggle to reduce domestic security issues.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I do not have intimate knowledge of this subject and look forward to a more in-depth study prior to taking a position.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Being a family man, local business owner, former executive on multiple non-profit boards, community volunteer, and 25 years of a diverse law enforcement career will allow me to bring leadership, compassion, experience, and a deep understanding of our community to Lansing. Local economy and small businesses need our help. Instead of large corporate bailouts, let’s focus on supporting our neighboring businesses. Local economy strengthens our state economy. We need more lawmakers that will hold the Governor’s office accountable for devastating our local economy, causing businesses to close their doors and people to lose their jobs, homes and financial stability. I support our governor battling COVID but not at the expense of our liberties and destruction of small business. The Constitution is not just a piece of paper…it’s the foundation of the greatest country in the world. God given freedoms and the freedoms enumerated within need to be protected. Individual rights in the U.S. are paramount and I have upheld an oath to protect them for the last 26 years as a police officer. Government overreach has run rampant. Every time we turn on the news, it’s another mandate or regulation or restriction from big government. We need people that will stand up and say ENOUGH! I do not support vaccine or mask mandates. Let’s get our kids back to consistent in-person learning, athletics and other extra-curricular activities. Our kids are being made pawns in a political game. Transparency in government and schools is a must. Getting CRT/DEI out of our curriculum is also a must. Anything that fans the flames of racism does not belong in our society. I will focus on creating and maintaining safe communities and safe schools. As a former police officer and school officer, I know what it takes to support our 1st responders and take a hard stance on crime.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
Qualified immunity exists until there is a constitutional violation. As a 26 year law enforcement veteran, I understand the importance of qualified immunity. But it has purposeful limitations already. There is no need to abolish this
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Nothing more than already exists! Firearms laws are already extensive and overreaching. I have been teaching firearms techniques and understanding of laws for 24 years.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
