RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe all lives are important. As a Christian, I do not believe in terminating a pregnancy.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Abolish property taxes, because you never own your property as long as the government continues to charge taxes on it. Reduce or eliminate income tax on retirement income, and find ways to lower state taxes for all Hoosiers.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Reduce the size of bureaucratic institutions and view spending proposals from non government institutions with a more discerning, conservative eye. Those who are elected to public office need to start treating taxer payer dollars with the respect that taxpayers deserve. Looking for and eliminating the unnecessary spending will be one of my top goals as I will look for ways to reduce the size of government.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
I support school choice and encourage parents to research Christian, Catholic, private, charter schools and home school pods as options. Home school children often score highly in academic testing. I also encourage high school age students to research and pursue professional trades such as construction, plumbing and electrical in lieu of college.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
To be a free person, you must be allowed to live by your moral principles and religious beliefs.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I don't believe that the government should be allowed to close churches. Churches are essential parts of the community.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
My answer is C. I believe that healthcare should be offered in the open market where competition can thrive and citizens can have more choices at more affordable prices. Many citizens have been living their lives with the understanding that Medicare and Medicaid will be available. They should not be pulled out from under citizens who are approaching retirement age and are relying on Medicare and Medicaid to be there. If there were sensible options for the next generation then there is a possibility of slowly shifting all future healthcare to the open market which would allow the next generation to plan differently.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Never. If a people cannot choose what goes into their own bodies, they are not free people. If the government, schools or employers can force a medical procedure on you, they own you. You do not own yourself.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The government should do background checks of people from Islamic countries or people previously from Islamic countries who have immigrated to another country, who intend to visit our county and require an application that is thoroughly verified. That person should be thoroughly vetted Also, the Visa needs to be kept up with of students or citizens from Islamic countries who will be staying in the US for an extended period of time. Currently, the biggest threat for our country for terrorism is our open border and all of the undocumented people who are coming across our southern border everyday and are being distributed around our country. For national security, we must close our border, locate these people and send them back to where they came from. There is a legal immigration system and people need to follow it.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
Israel is about the size of New Jersey and the war between Israel and Palestine is religious. This is a movement to starve Israel economically and isolate it. While I support the creation of a Palestinian state, I do not support the BDS movement. Israel gained control of the west bank after being attacked by Jordon in 1967. There were previous unsucessful negotiations to return the land. Israel, one of the freest nations in the middle east, claims the separation barrier is to prevent terrorism.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The border wall built under the Trump administration protected our safety as a nation and enforced the legal process for immigration. Open borders opens us up to threats of terrorism as well as weakens our economy and nationality. Open borders assists in the flow of illegal drugs into our country and the proliferation of human trafficking.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
While we should not allow immigration from high risk countries, the USA is a melting pot of people from around the world. Our legal and official immigration laws and policies should be followed in the process laid out.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
With what we have seen going on in Indiana, as well as around the country, the public school system has veered away from academics and has become centers of social and political ideology to influence the students' world views to a certain narrative which contradicts many American's values and beliefs. I encourage every parent to pursue a path away from the government school system. Children should be taught reasoning skills, not to blindly adopt the opinion pushed in the classroom.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Christian principals are evident throughout the documents of our founding fathers.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Gender is easy, male or female. Men do not belong on women's sport teams nor in women's locker rooms.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
i am not opposed to laws for others who have property and investments together and to give end of life rights to allow them into the hospital room or to settle the estate.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Critical theory is the works of communist, Antonio Gramsci that he referred to as the long march through the institutions. If you influence people to change their way of thinking, you can nudge them along in the way that you want to take their society.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Catholic who believes that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins. I believe in the human soul and life after death. I believe that living biblically is the key to a peaceful and happy life. The other path leads to grief, chaos and drama. Parents should invest the time to enjoy their children, bond with them, be a positive role model and invest in their children's future. Quality time and instilling the importance of good character is the most important thing that a parent can give a child. These things being said, we are all sinners in a broken world. Everyday is a new day with the opportunity to make better decisions and become closer to God. My parents tried to raise us to be honest and to want to do well in life. They raised me and my siblings to believe that the opportunities were there for those who show up and work hard. Focus on continual learning and development. Jesus told the parable of the master who left town and entrusted 3 of his servants with talons. Two of the servants invested their talons and multiplied them. The third buried his talon in the yard so he wouldn't lose it. The master was angry at the third servant for wasting his talon. I have told several people that is why I am running for office. I see what our state and country has been facing over the last 2 years and I can sit around and worry about it or I can get in the fight. When I stand before God at the end of my life, I do not want to have anything left. I want to have used everything he gave me.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
It is very easy to acquire a photo ID. There is no reasonable excuse for not getting or having one.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Use paper ballots, counted by bipartisan poll workers and voter ID required. A voter needs to request a mail in ballot. Voter rolls should be cleaned up every year to remove people who have passed away or have moved out of the area.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
There is very little racism in our country. This is a tactic used and promoted by the news media to cause division and chaos and to create a narrative. I have had conversations with people of other races who see through the propaganda and have told me this narrative is to turn the population against each other. United we stand. Divided we fall.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The United States is the land of opportunity. I grew up lower middle class. My parents instilled in their children, a desire to better themselves. You can find people of every race and gender who have worked hard and achieved more than their parents had. Outlook and attitude are key.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Definitely A. President Trump had us energy independent and the Democrats shut down the pipeline, killing jobs and hurting Americans. The windmills and solar panels that the environmental agencies have pushed us to, require the mining of precious minerals to even make them and it requires oil to turn a windmill.. The windmills kill lots of birds. The wind mills and solar panels only produce a small amount of our energy. We have seen the failures of these in both Texas and California. The windmills and solar panels take up a lot of land that could be used for agricultural purposes.Once these solar panels and windmills break, disposal usually is an environmental problem. Then there are the timber companies who were penalized by environmental regulations. By not allowing the timber companies to operate and clean up the forest floor, our country has suffered many forest fires. What is the situation with all of these "roundabouts" and unused bike lanes that have slowed traffic and changed traffic patterns? I have heard these were created by the environmental push. How much did all of this cost? The environmental push is hurting if not destroying the beef/cattle industry. This green push is bad for the environment and bad for America. I care about reducing pollution and taking care of the planet, but these environmental measures are about regulation and control.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I have read pros and cons of fracking. Pros include access to more oil, lower taxes, makes us more self dependent, creates jobs, and will provide better air quality. The cons suggests to use wind and solar, which as I discuss above, have their own multitude of problems. Fracking is said to pollute the water and cause droughts and there are unknown chemicals used in fracking. I need to study the topic more thoroughly.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The government was created by man to provide very limited functions to a city, county, state or nation. I believe that our government institutions should only perform the tasks outlined in the US and state constitutions and that the counties and cities should function in a way that best serves that community. I am for small government and not government over reach. Governments should protect the freedom and liberty of the citizens, not limit and infringe upon them.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am a constitutional Christian who wants a small government. I do not like government intrusion or overreach.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I did an interview with Dr. Shawn Benzinger of "Yes, You Count Indiana" that should be on that website. I have a YouTube channel " Jackie Bright Grubbs for Indiana State Representative" that there are speeches and videos on. I will be doing a short biography video on WNAS, which is New Albany High School's media station. It hasn't been scheduled yet. There have been two articles in the New Albany News and Tribune.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am the citizen's voice. I am running for Indiana State Representative because "We the People" are no longer being represented. All of my campaign contributions have been from citizens. Unfortunately, politicians these days receive their contributions from pharmaceutical companies, teachers unions and other corporations and institutions, which compromises their loyalty. We are continuously being stripped of our freedom and liberty, and have been for years. For the past 2 years, I have started paying close attention and I feel it is my patriotic duty to try to do whatever I can to stop it. Among my legislative priorities is to change who can donate to a campaign and how much. We have to get these special interests groups and big corporations from having the influence over the government, instead of the citizens. We need to close our primaries. We need to stop the CRT/SEL/DEI agenda. If we lose our children, we lose our country. We must protect our 2nd Amendment rights, save the lives of babies at conception, overhaul our election process and make it completely secure. We must protect our individual rights to make our own medical decisions, have the right to breath freely without masks, the right to open our businesses and go to work, the right to attend church, assemble and the right to free speech. We need to curtail government spending so Hoosiers can have lower taxes and keep more of their hard earned money.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
While most police officers are good, no one should be immune from prosecution. Police officers are put in various situations everyday that require judgement and discernment. Policemen should receive regular training on the best way to handle difficult situations so they can react appropriately. In the event of questionable conduct, hopefully, our judicial system will be fair in reaching a verdict.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Citizens depend on our police to protect our communities. Recalling the events of 9/11, it was the police and firefighters who rushed into the burning buildings. We need our law enforcement and they need the funds for regular training.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There shouldn't be restrictions for law abiding citizens. There should be more efforts to find out how felons, criminals and gangs illegally acquire firearms to keep communities safe.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
The gun didn't commit the crime, a person did. If someone runs over a pedestrian, the auto manufacturer doesn't get sued, nor should they.
