QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I can not see any circumstance where murdering a baby is the solution to any problem.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

I can't imagine a realistic scenario where the government would have a good reason to close a church.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We have incentivized people who hate America to come and thrive instead of promoting traditional American values and unity. We need to take strong stances both at home and abroad on where we stand with terrorism execute accordingly. However we need to make sure that we aren't committing our own atrocities on other countries before we go and try to further police the world. I would argue that instead of invading and tampering with people in other countries (especially in the middle east) to the extent that we are, we need to focus more on our own domestic issues.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

This is a very involved question and I cannot simply give a short answer to such a complex issue that has been around for generations.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. I'm interested in providing the best solutions to the general public and will not advocate for "well intended" solutions only to destroy the lives of our citizens.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Never

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

My number one priority when it comes to tax is removing the Michigan Income tax.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would start by moving Michigan to a part-time legislation reducing the budget of paid politicians and working from there.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I am pro immigration and welcome those who wish to come here and make a life in the United States. However, I will not tolerate illegal immigration and will be very strict on the enforcement of legal immigration. That being said we need to take a look at the laws and make sure that they are good laws that allow good "American loving" people to come here and contribute to our society and make this their home.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

This is a very critical issue and if it isn't addressed immediately then we will continue to head towards a doomed future. Education prepares our youth for the future of our nation and world and right now the public school system is determined to teach hate for America, LGBT agenda and racial divisions.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Neutral

I need to look into this issue further to give an appropriate answer.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. I will be promoting every citizen to own and carry their own guns along with working to remove "gun free zones". I will also be pushing Michigan to be a constitutional carry state.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect the rights and freedoms of it citizens.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://phillipjoseph.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thephillipjoseph/

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

As a Christian I will not tolerate injustice. Whether that's violent inflation caused by the government, the grooming of our children in the school system, or any other of the micro aggressions from the government on a regular basis. I'm not a single issue candidate and will be legislating from a biblical platform using history as my guide.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Without a doubt this is the ground work for all the blessings and curses of our country.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian every day of the week and if I happen to represent my community in Lansing, I will do it as a Christian. I do not separate my faith in Jesus Christ from anything that I do and I will not forget that I am a Christian just because I work in Lansing. My life and my faith are already conflated and the same will hold true politically

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

The current laws are intentionally designed to promote election fraud. -No drop boxes -No same day registration -Photo ID required -Hand counts at every township

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

NO. This is a political narrative designed to distract and divide. In fact the Democrats are the most racist people in the history of the United States. They were the ones that enacted Jim Crow laws and they the same now as they were then. Look at their recent VP and Supreme court requirements.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy along with being ineffective and unproductive. Nothing more than a way to get more centralized control.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

I do not know enough about this specific issue to give an informed response.
