QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Disagree

It seems like a very bad idea to take money from people, then use it to bully the legislature into taking more money from people or to push programs against their will.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I have a bit of a unique perspective, as i went to government funded kindergarten, but was then home-schooled for 11 years, before going to a small Christian School for my senior year, so only one year of my education was government funded. I think it is a good thing to have government-funded education, but I do not believe it should be government-controlled education. Education begins at home, and the most important things children will ever learn will be learned there. Things like respect, self-control, patriotism, compassion, moral compass, social cues, as well as the basic education tenets that society has come to rely on the schools for. The alphabet, addition/subtraction, critical thinking skills... With those thoughts in mind, it is important for the parents of children to have say in their children's education, and most times, government funding comes with strings. College is a different animal, and if government funding is used, I feel it can become more of an indoctrination center than a critical thinking center, and we could use more people with strong critical thinking skills.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

We have a first amendment to the Constitution to guarantee this right.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

I've heard it said that as long as there are tests, there WILL be prayer in school. I would take it a step further and say as long as there are tests and trials (as the Bible promises), we NEED students to be praying in school. A moral foundation is needed, both in our schools and our country, and this foundation can only come from GOD.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

Direction. The school board is like the rudder of a big ship. They don't provide the energy that powers the ship, or the cargo aboard the ship, but provide a way for them to get to the objective. They provide the direction for the staff to do what is best for the students.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

I think parents should be able to set the curriculum, but the school board has the responsibility to carry this out. Therefore, parents should actively engage the candidates and make sure that the representative they choose has their values and best interest in mind. The board member should keep lines of communication with parents open. They should use the resources at their disposal to carry out the wishes of the children's parents.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Restricted above PG-13, unless quoting source material. Otherwise, they should be able to speak their minds on whatever subject is pressing to them that has bearing on the school system.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Language Arts Mathematics American History Science Personal Finances Physical Fitness Vocational Learning Information Technology Foreign Language These are written in age order, not necessarily prioritized, because they all have importance. If I were able to add some, they would be: Critical Thinking Skills & Logic Studies of religion and how it shapes different cultures (with real world examples, not Marxist ideals) Civic Responsibility

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Especially how our founding fathers studied various type of governments for YEARS before coming to the conclusion that a Constitutional Democratic Republic was the best shot we had at maintaining liberty and equality. Understanding the legislative process is a key to responsible voting that should be taught as well.

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

As mentioned before, parents are the primary educators of their children, especially when it comes to sensitive subjects with so much nuance.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

The 1619 project was thoroughly blasted by historians across the board as having made up facts, and I am not familiar with the other names, but any type of teaching that tries to paint the emergence of our country as being race-based is ridiculous and ignores common sense and all of the writings of the day. It promulgates a race war in my own family, where 2 of my children are told they are oppressors and the other 2 that they are victims based on the color of their skin, and I reject that.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

Even though I am running for school board and want the best educational experience possible for BA Schools, parents have the right, and even the responsibility to follow their convictions for what is best for their child. As you may recall from the beginning, I've experienced 3 of those options in my own educational experience.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of the Living God, and endeavor to live in such a way that pleases Him. This is not separate from my everyday life. This is the core of me. I believe God created the universe and all life that exists herein, that He sent his only Son in the most compassionate move humanity has seen, in order to rescue us from our screw-ups. My values are to live as close to Jesus as possible. He was the strongest, most compassionate, merciful, unwavering, powerful, humble Man to have walked this earth, and as I emulate Him, with the help of my friend, the Holy Spirit, I will exhibit His fruits: Love, Joy, Peace, Self-control, etc.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

I refuse to throw real, practical science out the window in favor of mental science. We have centuries of research about our humanity, and how we are similar, but also the things that make us different. There are very real, scientific differences between male and female, from brain chemistry, to muscle mass, to peripheral vision, to chromosomes, etc., and to ignore those tangible differences to cater to a feeling or decision is impractical at best.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

A parent is the primary source, and should take the lead on this as they feel their child is ready, or to counteract bad info they are receiving from their peers. I have no issue with a school teaching the basic mechanics of the sexual organs in middle school, as they should learn about this for the basic biology of animals, protozoa, fish, etc., but to graphically define human sexual activity and the like in school is leading them down a thought path that a school should not be heading down.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

I am not a proponent of Sex Ed in school. However, as some parents do abdicate their responsibility to the school, I would permit ONLY the following: Human Anatomy / reproductive system Stages of pregnancy and fetal development Abstinence In case of ignoring abstinence, the physical and emotional health outcomes

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Our country's chartering documents were based on the understanding that Judeo-Christian values are an integral part of the process. Many of the candidacy forms of the time required you to be a Christian. The "separation of church and state" is a misunderstood concept from Thomas Jefferson when he allaying the fears of government intrusion. https://earstohear.net/Separation/letter.html

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Parents have the sole responsibility for their children. Period.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

What is stated on the birth certificate? Because, science.

Therapy to help children turn from unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria should be banned.

Strongly Disagree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

When a person is elected to office, you receive the whole person, their beliefs, their actions, and future actions. Their moral values determine what their future actions will be.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

No media

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

My wife and I have been married for 22 years. We have been active members of our church for 23 years. We had our first son shortly before our 10th anniversary, and were blessed with a daughter 362 days later. They are now 12/11 We adopted a 17yr old from DHS custody, and he is now 23. We adopted a 2yr old who will be 5 by the date of this election. I have entered the school board race because I feel God is leading me in this direction, and I have a personal stake in this school, as 3 of my children are currently Broken Arrow Public School students.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Agree

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

I cannot think of a condition that would allow them to take such a stance.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

At this point, the data is as clear as mud, but highly politicized. I recommend readers to watch videos on Rumble by Stephen Petty PE, CIH, CSP https://rumble.com/c/PettyPodcasts He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and walks through the various recommendations by the CDC and shows whether or not they followed scientific standards in their recommendations. He has a 4 part series about children and masks.
