RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In the event of rape or a serious threat to the mother's life or health. I do not consider "incest" because it is a consensual act; if it is not, then it constitutes rape.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Planned Parenthood is a private organization no different in nature from other IRS Section 501 organizations. Like many it runs a serious PAC, having donated $746,595 to political candidates that included $0 (ZERO) to Republican/Conservative candidates. They should never receive any government funds any more than a church receives government funds.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
In those cases where there is no hope of survival and where palliative care is unable to stop the pain and suffering to any significant degree, the patient should be allowed to ask for and receive relief. No human being should suffer torture, even if through natural causes.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Governments at all levels (in the State of Texas) should be restricted to growing taxation at no more than the rate of inflation plus population growth. Excepting emergency situations or with voter approval. Municipalities should not be allowed to expend taxpayer dollars by use of a Certificate of Obligation (CO). CO's should be restricted to emergency use only. I favor a fair tax plan for all taxpayers, be they rich, poor, or middle-class. I believe that "residential" taxation should be abolished as a method of government funding. A buyer should own his home, not rent it annually from the government. The use of tax abatement, tax "giveaways" to corporations to entice them to move to a municipality or region is an unnecessary evil and should be abolished. I would forbid the use of tax dollars by any municipality to hire lobbyists. Far too often these lobbyists are hired to represent the interests of the city/county and not the interests of their citizens.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Texas is a balanced budget state, by law with restrictions on budget growth. That said I believe significant savings in the budget can be had by reducing the tax incentives given to corporations that relocate. Use those funds to improve the state and the corporations will come here for the favorable tax climate, political atmosphere, and "livability." Further to the point, Texas invariably posts a significant budget surplus. I would mandate the majority of such surplus be used to pay down the M&O debts of the school systems of Texas and to fully fund rural school systems. Reducing the M&O debt of a school system (an "ISD") would necessarily reduce the tax burden on citizens, as an ISD tax is the largest portion of tax paid by citizens by far.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
This isn't the 50's or 60's when our country needed to encourage college education. It has now become ubiquitous, with millions if not billions wasted on degrees that have no practical application. We have far too many baristas with college educations now. The funds would be better spent encouraging our youth to engage in practical, technical education such a plumbing, welding, electrical engineering and other much need skills.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None. Well, perhaps if the buildings were structurally unsound but the government should never interfere with or curtail the free exercise of religion.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
The closest answer is C with many caveats. Both programs should be returned to their original intent and the ludicrous expansions done away with. Taxpayers should not be paying for those who don't work, for the indigent but able bodied. Government healthcare in the form of medicare should be restricted to those means tested persons, who are in need of help not a blanket grant to all. As it exists now, it is a bloated and poorly funded program that eats taxpayer dollars. Under no circumstances should there be any medicaid payments made from Texas taxpayers for illegal aliens; if they cannot fend for themselves they should not be here.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I do not believe that a business should be allowed to mandate any vaccination as a condition of employment or continued employment. As for the government, there are certain occupations where national security risks outweigh personal choice BUT if a vaccine is mandated it MUST be thoroughly tested, proven to be effective ,and the threat to security, life, and limb must be immediate and deadly. I find that the unproven, untested, and practically useless COVID vaccines should never have been mandated nor paid for by the taxpayer. The current threat level for the military is low and should not have been cause for a mandate of an experimental drug. In most other occupations there should not ever be a need for mandatory vaccination.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Provide training and support to those entities that are actively fighting the Islamists, including kinetic assets. Actively support Israel in every way possible. Use our resources to identify, track, and remove or assist in the removal of individuals identified to have targeted Americans and our assets.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Build the wall. Use whatever is required, such as Arizona's use of 4 ton shipping containers. In every case where illegal immigration is thwarted, the economic refugees tend to go home and the drug smugglers are curtailed to a degree. By the way, stop being lenient on drug abusers and drug sellers. Kill the market, not the people!
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those, who are healthy, able to support themselves, are actually vetted by our law enforcement and intelligence communities. Those that have an actual, documented threat and who have been refused protection in their own countries and in intermediate countries. Just as we cannot be the "World's Policeman" we cannot be the world's homeless shelter. The federal government needs to fix the immigration law and enforce it. Secure our borders!
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in the Christian tradition and believe that that forms the foundation of a strong, healthy society. I also understand that there are other belief systems in the world and, so long as they remain peaceful and honorable, I accept their right to exist. I value morality, honesty, and a Christian work ethic. I am somewhat old fashioned in the belief that charity is a last resort only to be a temporary aid until one can get back on their feet and support themselves, their families, and their community.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Texas has an excellent system of voting in place. I support the 10 days of early voting; photo ID to vote; NO vote harvesting; no unattended voting boxes anywhere. I support absentee balloting for those unable to reach a polling place due to physical infirmity and those out of the area on official business, such as military personnel.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
In the manner in which the left is pushing racism, yes it is. Rewriting history, calling everything and everyone a racist is sparking great ire in the people. Destroying traditional values and calling them "white supremacy," alleging that math, English, in fact anything that requires effort and thought as "racist" is tearing our country apart. The left's demands for the erasure of history, destruction of monuments, their insistence that people living 2-300 years ago should have adhered to today's fractured mores is fomenting an incredible tension in society that may reach a breaking point.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Not. Ever.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. That is a proven fact where (B) is a fantasy akin to Gaia worship.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
First, the purpose of government is NOT to dictate to its citizens what they are to believe nor how they are speak or pray. It is rather to protect the people from depredation; to ensure that we are safe and secure within our borders and our communities; to keep the peace; and to ensure a fair and honest system of government. Governments must protect the country and populace from threats. In this role they must ensure our common defense against foreign and domestic players that would overthrow our country. Local governments provide this service through a well trained, disciplined, and equipped police force. The federal government does this through superior armed forces. Governments must establish and enforce laws that ensure fair and equal treatment for all, allowing no party or group to take unfair advantage over another. They must enact rules that clearly and precisely define the conduct of our legal system and our system of elections.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
There are none, to my knowledge.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Absolutely not.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My goal is to address the economy and government spending; we need to ensure that all citizens can put food on the table, clothes on their children, and fuel in their vehicles. No citizen should have to choose between supper and medicine, between healthcare and rent; things I have seen first hand while campaigning. I want to curtail excessive government spending on corporate tax handouts. I would stop the practice of governments spending taxpayer dollars on paid lobbyists, who often work against the best interests of our citizens. We must ensure that parents are in control of their children's education. They should have a choice in where their child is educated, giving them the best possible education no matter what type of school is chosen and they should be supported by an Education Savings Account. My belief is that education would be best funded as if it were a business, where parents vote on the effectiveness of the school by moving their children and the state funding to the best schools. Teach the ABC's and 123's, emphasize STEM not DEI or CRT or other ridiculous distortions that put American behind the rest of the world in everything but "woke." I believe that we should be energy independent and provide all possible energy resources to better American lives and anything left over can go to the rest of the world. Nothing should be off the table; fossil fuel, nuclear, even wind and solar. We should not be artificially distorting the market by giving huge grants to emplace questionable, unproven, or inefficient energy generation. We must get back to a "law and order" society. Hire, properly vet and train sufficient policemen and women to ensure our safety. Enforce the laws, prosecute the criminals, and remove proven threats to society. If a policeman misbehaves, punish THAT policeman not the entire department. If a police department is not "doing it right," improve their training, don't remove the department. Crime is skyrocketing because of foolish "defund" or "substitute" policies.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. Not one.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
