RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In cases of rape, incest or if the life of the mother is at stake.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
My response is in regards to funding for abortions. Planned Parenthood does provide other services which may be justifiable for receiving funds from federal, state, or local governments.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Property taxes should be reduced (per the Texas Republican party platform) until they are finally eliminated. Commercial property tax increases should not be unlimited. We should eliminate taxes used to build stadiums for professional sports teams. Tax revenue derived from gasoline taxes and all other taxes/fees on our vehicles (including vehicle sales tax) should only be used for road construction and maintenance, and should not be diverted to any other use, including mass transit, rail, restrictive lanes, and bicycle paths. We should eliminate estate tax (commonly known as the Death Tax), inventory taxes, business franchise taxes, taxes on phone and internet services and Affordable Care Act Home Sales Tax. I support a flat tax or the replacement of the income tax with a consumption tax that reduces the overall tax burden.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
There is so much unnecessary government spending that needs to be reduced that it makes this question easy to answer. Just take your pick, as the greed and corruption and the amount of taxpayer monies wasted that's associated with this greed and corruption is bountiful. Check out this report: "https://www.paul.senate.gov/news/dr-rand-paul-releases-2020-festivus-report-government-waste" for specific details. I would begin with reducing or eliminating almost every program listed in the 2020 Festivus Report which is detailed in the above referenced website. Over 54 billion taxpayer dollars wasted. The federal government has approved several Covid relief stimulus funds, totaling 6 trillion dollars. The Biden Administration just passed the 760 billion dollar Inflation Reduction Act (which will not reduce inflation). The Biden Administration is also continuing to send money to Ukraine. Currently the dollar amount is estimated to be over 54 billion (did we, the taxpayer have any input on this money?). Also, the Biden Administration approved the 1.2 trillion dollar Infrastructure Bill. The Biden Administrations oversight of the distribution of these monies is pathetic. Hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars are wasted every year. The US Government Accountability Office has acknowledged that Federal agencies made about $281 billion in improper payments in FY 2021—an increase of $75 billion from the prior fiscal year and about double the amount reported in FY 2017. Per the Secret Service, 100 billion has been lost in taxpayer dollars to pandemic fraud. The national debt is now at 30 trillion dollars. It's estimated the "true national debt" would be around 60 trillion of taxpayer dollars if the unfunded entitlements were included. That's roughly three times the size of the entire US economy. The Biden administration also left approximately 7 billion of taxpayer funded military equipment in Afghanistan after their failed evacuation. Decisions like this and the others mentioned above to waste taxpayers monies must be stopped.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
As with the wasteful government spending noted in question #2 above, I see public funding of college as just another avenue for fraud and abuse of taxpayer monies. We need to control the fraud and abuse that we currently have before we open more doors for more of the same. If a program was established in Houston, TX to provide taxpayer funded public education guaranteed through college, it would not take the current Democrat leadership long to waste the funds, and enrich their political friends.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Some individuals may request a business to provide a service that would violate the business owners moral or religious beliefs. The business owner has a right to refuse to be required to do something that violate their standards. The customer has a choice to do business somewhere else.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
There may be some catastrophic reason that the government should close a church, such as a gas leak, structural damage, etc. But, other than something like that, I do not think the government should have the right to close churches. The original intent of separation of church and state was to keep the government out of the church's business. The government has no right to close churches as it did with the Covid pandemic. Church leaders can make educated, informed decisions on how they intend to proceed or not during a pandemic. And their congregations can also make educated, informed decisions on how they choose to worship or not during a pandemic.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Item "C" of the choices provided would come the closest to matching my views. As previously discussed in regards to government spending, we have too many wasteful programs that are already destroying the budget. Please see my response to question #2 on the "Economy" for clear examples of government fraud and waste. Options "A" & "B" would just open the door for more fraud and waste of taxpayer's dollars. Maybe if we, as a government could correct the fraud that I've detailed in question #2 on the "Economy" and the taxpayer could believe that the corruption, waste, and greed (and making political friends millionaires) would stop, then maybe taxpayer funded healthcare for all, or college for all would be feasible. But until that day comes I could not agree to items "A" & "B" above.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
There are no circumstances in which a government, school, or employer should be allowed to require vaccinations. Our government is currently in violation of the Nuremburg Law. As a result of the atrocities committed by the German Nazi in WWII with medical experimentation on unwilling subjects (among other war crimes) the Nuremburg trials concluded with a promise to humanity that we would never endorse uninformed non-voluntary medical decision making, even for the patients own good, or even for the sake of the public good. Our government has (with the buy in from the media) persuaded, coerced, and required that the so called vaccine be taken by all military personnel and government personnel. Monetary goods have been offered in some case for people to agree to take this so called vaccine, which is in direct violation of Nuremburg Law. This is not a vaccine. It does not stop someone from getting the virus nor does it stop the spread of the virus. The potency of the virus has waned over time and our government wants you to believe that it's the vaccine causing this reduction in bad symptoms when they do not know if it's just a natural occurrence in the evolution of the virus or not. The entire citizenry of the US population is being subject to a mass experiment as several thousand people are becoming wealthy. Many millionaires are being created through this experiment. Fraud has occurred on every level of this experiment. We know that some information has been altered in reference to the research done and information provided by the drug manufactures to the CDC and the NIH. The mandates to take the vaccine must be stopped. Humans are not guinea pigs. Medical professionals are not being allowed to practice medicine when it comes to the Covid virus. Many are going along with the requirements of the institution in which they work because they don't want to lose their job. Health and Human services controlled 20% of our GDP 15 years ago. Today, after 6 trillion (and more on the way) being poured into these institutions, think of how much control and power we have given these institutions. The pharmaceutical companies are making billions in profits each year. This reckless pouring of money into this experiment has created many individual millionaires within the medical industry. Why is taxpayer money being provided to the major drug companies when there is evidence of other treatments with drugs that are very inexpensive and have been around for decades. The alternative drugs are being suppressed for that very reason...they're cheap. Why is our government recommending that we vaccinate 5 year olds (or even younger now) when Covid poses less risk to them than the potential reaction to the vaccine and while there is no effective monitoring system for the vaccine? Why are we focused on the narrow vaccine immunity when the real world test show that the natural immunity is more protective, more potent, and more enduring? Why do we shame the vaccine hesitant and not the vaccine adamant? Why do the protected need to be protected from the unprotected by forcing the unprotected to use the protection that didn't protect the protected in the first place? And finally, why are these questions not the headlines of major news media? It's all about greed, money, power and control. It changed the way we vote. It weakened our voting laws. It's made our society more vulnerable to corruption.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
An Islamic terrorist believes in their heart "Death to America", and "Death to Israel". Obviously this should be a concern to every citizen of the United States. Our borders and all ports of entry must be controlled. Christopher Wray, the head of our FBI acknowledged under oath when being questioned (on many issues) by members of Congress in August of 2022 that Al Qaeda and the Taliban have a desire to harm the USA. Iran is well known for it's leaders to chant "Death to America". We must insure that these people are not allowed to obtain nuclear capability. Unfortunately, the Biden administration is not capable of providing safety to the American people. The border is open for terrorist to enter. Power was returned to Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan by the Biden administration. The Biden State Department has continued using Russia as its conduit to pursue another Obama-style nuclear "deal" with Iran. Imagine, still using Russian diplomats -- 'business as usual,' under the current circumstances -- as your negotiators with another anti-American regime, with which the Russian military (and China's) has allied itself. Iran won’t make any concessions on its ballistic missile activity, its terrorist activity and support for proxy groups, or taking further hostages from the United States and other countries. But it will get money anyway – lots and lots of money. The Biden administration is risking the lives of Americans. On August 10th the Justice Department unsealed charges against a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in what court documents describe as a brazen murder-for-hire plot to assassinate the former national security adviser to avenge the death of Iran top military general Qassem Soleimani. This is a war crime and the Biden administration is doing nothing in retaliation because that would not help the corrupt Biden administration with their futile nuclear talks with Iran. This comes after the Biden administration and Iranian officials recently concluded talks in Vienna to potentially revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear deal. Iran cannot be trusted. The Democrat party with incompetent leaders like Joe Biden cannot stop the threat of Islamic terrorism.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The Democrat "Open Border" policy is all about future votes for the Democratic party. Our existing laws must be enforced. Under Democrat leadership we are at "Crisis Mode" at the southern border. It's common knowledge that at least one million "got aways" have occurred at the southern border. People on the terrorist watch list (Afghanistan) have been apprehended. These people want to do grave harm to this nation. Illegal drugs are flooding across the border. Democrat policy has totally failed.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
U.S. immigration law is based on the following principles: the reunification of families, admitting immigrants with skills that are valuable to the U.S. economy, protecting refugees, and promoting diversity. So anyone who falls in these categories is eligible to immigrate to the U.S. The problem that we have today is that the "vetting" process is not being properly followed. Our system for processing the refugees from Afghanistan was extremely flawed due to the overwhelming numbers and total incompetency by the Biden administration. FBI director Chris Wray admitted under Congressional questioning in August of 2022 that the process was not done correctly. He would not answer Senator Hawley’s questions about why the federal government reportedly did not vet hundreds of Afghan evacuees who were on various terrorist watch lists. Wray did concede that the “border presents significant security issues” that feed the violence that he claims his agency is struggling to combat. In response to Senator Cornyn, Wray admitted “There’s a wide array of criminal threats that we encounter down at the border. You mentioned a little bit in some of your questions, the transnational criminal organizations that use diverse and complex methods to traffick drugs, that then cascades over into prison and street gangs who distribute it.” The "border presents significant security issues” as admitted by the director of the FBI. Proper vetting is not happening at our southern border. The Biden administration is fully responsible for this chaos.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Judeo-Christian values not only established a framework of morality, but are the bedrock of the original intent in the founding of this country. From the Magna Carta to the Declaration of Independence these values were included. Most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were strong Christian leaders and some were even preachers. This history of "the laws of nature and nature's God" is in our founding documents and references to God are throughout our most historic buildings.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Gender identity is a distraction with the intent of undermining established norms. It's another part of the social reform that is being pushed upon the American people. Most people disagree with this insanity. For the media it gets "clicks" and "air time" so they will continue to push the false narrative.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Critical race theory is part of the socialist movement that's spreading across this nation. It establishes one group of classmates as the oppressed and one group as the oppressor. The intention is to undermine the foundations of this country, focus on hate, and not focus on the great accomplishments that have been made.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'll use a few verses from the book of John to try to describe my spiritual beliefs and values. As a Christian, I believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. In response to the apostle Thomas, Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 NIV). Jesus Christ did walk on this earth. The Christian Bible gives us an accounting of his time on this earth. His example of how we should live our lives and love one another show us values that we should all be implementing in our daily lives. (John 14:15) “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." 25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The "Spirit of Truth", the "Helper" Jesus refers to is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides Christian believers in the absence of Jesus. This is how Christian believers are guided spiritually through life. If something seems wrong, or evil, the truth will be revealed. There are things going on in this country right now that are wrong...and evil.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Election integrity is being challenged by the Democrat party right now. They do not want photo identification. Photo Identification is needed to prevent fraud in elections. Why is it that everything the Democrats want weaken election integrity? They want "mass" unsolicited mail in voting with no ID, ballot harvesting, 24 hr voting, same day voting/registration, drive through voting, & have the Federal govt. run elections instead of the states. They want to steal elections.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would propose the following: Repealing all motor voter laws. Requiring voters to re-register, if they have not voted in a five-year period. Requiring photo ID of all registrants. Requiring proof of residency and citizenship along with the voter registration application. Retaining the 30-day registration deadline. Requiring that a list of certified deaths be provided to the Secretary of State in order for the names of deceased voters be removed from the list of registered voters, with periodic checks on the voter rolls to ensure all currently registered voters are eligible. Giving the Secretary of State enforcement authority to ensure county registrar compliance with Secretary of State directives. Allowing, by Open Records Request, a bit-by-bit forensic imaging of all electronic devices, including servers, at Central Counting immediately before and after each election. Vigorous enforcement of all our election laws as written and oppose any laws, lawsuits, and judicial decisions that make voter fraud very difficult to deter, detect, or prosecute. Prohibition of internet voting for public office and any ballot measure. That mail-in ballots must be requested and only granted to those that cannot physically appear in-person. Increased scrutiny and security in balloting by mail, including removal of Section 87.014 (d1) of the Texas Election Code to require once again full signature verification with the need to rebut, regardless of whether paper identification numbers are on the application and ballot carrier envelope. Felony status for willful violations of the election code and increasing penalty for voter fraud from a misdemeanor back to a felony. The constitutional authority of state legislatures to regulate voting, including disenfranchisement of convicted felons. Sequentially numbered and signed ballots to deter counterfeiting. Expanding the Attorney General’s staff for investigating election crimes and restoring the ability of the Attorney General to prosecute any election crimes. The ability for civil lawsuits to be filed for election fraud or failure of officials to follow the Texas Election Code. Allowing trained poll watchers from anywhere in Texas with local party or candidate approval. Creating processes that will allow rapid adjudication of election law violation disputes as they occur and before violations can be successfully perpetrated.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I don't see racism as a threat to domestic security in the United States. I do believe that the U.S. has a serious problem with racism. There are different groups of people that truly despise other people because of the color of their skin. It is very sad that this exists in the year 2022. There are organizations who make money by keeping the racist thoughts and actions at the forefront. "Race baiting" and "playing the race card" are old tricks used over and over again to keep the hate in motion. As with CRT, these racist people continue to spread their division, hate, and anger. And unfortunately for the majority of the country, their tactics work. They do raise money, get donations and media time, which allows them to continue with their spread of hatred. But the truth is that most Americans get along, regardless of race, creed or culture. Most Americans follow the thought of "love thy neighbor" and would try to help a fellow citizen if in need. The race baiters are always looking for ways to take advantage of the uneducated, and the media gets "clicks" and "air time" by showing their hate. So all we can do is stand together, stand strong, and stop hate.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
To agree with reparations, I would have to know who we are talking about and on what basis would someone be awarded reparations. I cannot agree with giving anyone reparations based on a blanket statement of "on the basis of race".
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I do believe environmental laws and regulations are important. However, I don't think the laws we currently have are being properly enforced. The EPA does not have the personnel to enforce the existing laws, so why would we create more stringent laws? The Biden administration is hiring 87,000 new IRS agents (armed and willing to use such weapons) to enforce tax laws (primarily on their enemies, ie. Lois Lerner) but is doing nothing to increase the number of EPA inspectors to enforce existing EPA laws. So the Biden administration is letting big industry continue to pollute (without increasing EPA inspections) and make billions so they can tax them (at the end of a gun) and make more money to keep the fraudulent (Biden) administration in control of the 20 trillion dollar economy. If they wanted to protect the environment they would put more personnel inspecting the facilities that are violating the current laws. Why not add 30,000 EPA inspectors (unarmed) and 57,000 IRS agents? The reason is that they think that we are too stupid to see what they are doing. The Biden Administration is corrupt. (PS - who's going to regulate China and Russia?)
iVoterGuide Notes:
"Why not add 30,000 EPA inspectors and provide enough additional IRS agents so that the IRS phone will be answered when called by taxpayers?"
Staff Note: This revised survey response was submitted by the candidate after the survey deadline was reached and was not considered during panel evaluations.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I'm ok with hydraulic fracking if it is done safely and ensures protection of the environment. As noted above, we do not have the personnel to inspect all the facilities and processes throughout the country. This should be corrected. But don't expect the the Biden administration or the democratic party to participate in the needed correction. They're focused on the money they can get from big industry, not the environment.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
I believe the original historic concept of government is not to grant rights, but to protect the inalienable, God-given rights of life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness of all, including the unborn. Government properly exists by the consent of the governed and must be restrained from intruding into the freedoms of its citizens.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I'm a "first time" candidate. I may be someone who's just like you, very frustrated with the direction of this country and the democrat leadership that's leading us into high inflation, out of control crime, and an open southern border. I've had no interviews or media reports at this point. Hopefully my answers to this questionnaire will validate that I have conservative views.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Please visit my website for more information on me. "www.MabryforTexas.com"
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Neutral
The answer to this question is dependent on the definition of "conduct consistent with the departmental policy". If the departmental policy is within what society would consider "acceptable" then I would agree with "qualified immunity". If the departmental policy falls away from what society would consider "acceptable" then I would disagree with "qualified immunity".
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
This is a socialist tactic to defund the police. We need to support our law enforcement. Protecting the people so they may have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is a necessary basic function of government. To undermine that protection is right out of the socialist playbook. And the reason mental health and community programs is suggested as an alternative for police funds is to try to force this through with referendum. Offer people money and get their vote. Typical Democrat maneuvers.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe that universal background checks for all gun sales, including private sales and at gun shows, raising the minimum age to buy an assault-style weapon to 21 and having "red flag" laws to remove guns from potentially dangerous people would help to protect public safety. But, the "red flag laws" must be used as intended and not used as an avenue to infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights. I would not trust the Biden administration to determine who is considered a "potentially dangerous person".
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
However, if someone was the victim of gun violence and the gun used was sold by a firearms dealer who was involved in illegal activity in the sale of the firearm then I think the victim should be able to sue the firearms dealer.
