It promised religious freedom, not the opposite.

On both the federal and state levels, we should always be looking for ways to tax consumption as opposed to taxing production, income, or equity. In Alabama, I will work to end the automatic increase of our gasoline tax and also eliminate the tax on essential groceries.

I will also assemble a panel of volunteer business leaders to help evaluate each agency and budget line item and ask for their recommendations for delivering value for taxpayers.

My faith in Christ is what guides my worldview. I have been married to my wife Angela for 38 years. We have two daughters, one son, and three grandchildren. I made this decision to run for governor with the counsel of my entire family because I believe our nation is at a tipping point. We will either return to our Judeo-Christian heritage or go the way of Marxism. We are in a battle for the soul of the nation, and if you look at the way our own Republican leaders have behaved in Montgomery, it appears that our leaders have lost the stomach for the fight. It is time to fight back.
