QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am Pro-Life; I believe babies are a gift from God and entitled to live. Adoption is an alternative for mothers who cannot keep their children. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

The government needs to focus on protecting its citizens from the forces of evil and infrastructure. Leaving local issues to the states.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

We will all die when the Lord is ready. Man should not interfere by assisting in suicide. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Federal Tax Code is an issue for the US Congress and I'm running for State office. However, anywhere we can save tax dollars to avoid waste would be an improvement. We should eliminate wasteful spending on unnecessary programs.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We should eliminate wasteful spending on unnecessary programs. Many programs are funded that should be left to the private sector. "For-profit" businesses should succeed or fail without government interference.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Not everyone is a candidate for a college education. Many people pursue careers that don't require a traditional education. Students who want to go to a traditional college have options like scholarships and grants.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Businesses providing services should be allowed to choose what services they will provide.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

NONE, Churches should not be forced to close under any circumstances. Churches are here to serve the Lord and heal the sick. Churches can operate with health precautions in place. 2 Thessalonians 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

We have all been given vaccinations since birth. Vaccinations have eliminated many terrible diseases. However, we should not be required to take untested, unproven vaccinations.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We should first pray 2 Chronicles 7:14 and my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. Then we should secure our borders to prevent terrorists, drug smugglers, and human traffickers from entering the country illegally.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

I believe that Israel has the right to be a sovereign country with borders, just as we do. I believe that all people have the right to live peacefully and citizens of Israel have that right regardless of their religion as long as they afford the same rights to each other.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

I support legal immigration by those who go through the established methods for those who are seeking to immigrate to our country. However, a nation without borders is no nation at all. By refusing to properly defend our nation’s borders, the administration has created a crisis within the state of Texas. It is now up to us as a state to protect the integrity of our borders. We cannot wait any longer. We must stop the flow of illegal drugs and human trafficking coming across the border.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe that anyone who goes through the established methods for those who are seeking to immigrate to our country should be allowed.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I believe that our country was founded by men of faith and that we should stand by our Constitution.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that God created Men and Women. He did not create us with the option of changing back and forth. That being said, I think that all people have the right to fair treatment.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that people can be racist, not institutions. I believe that there are racist people in every race. I believe that God created us all and that we should learn to work together and live together in peace.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am Pro-Faith; I am a Christian, but I support everyone’s freedom to worship according to their own beliefs. I’m opposed to groups who would try to prevent an American’s right to worship as they like and suppress religious expression. 2 Chronicles 7:14 and my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. I am Pro-Life; I believe babies are a gift from God and entitled to live. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Elections in Texas must be safe and secure. Part of that is making voter fraud a felony again. I believe that every qualified voter is entitled to vote, once per election. Photo IDs are available to everyone. The state even offers a special ID for the purpose of voting at no cost. You must have an ID to do most things and it would be difficult to go through life without an ID. I believe that the suggestion that minorities cannot obtain an ID is in fact racism.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I’m in favor of an Election Integrity bill to provide uniform voting hours, increase penalties for ballot harvesting, require Voter ID for mail-in ballots and applications, and verify citizenship. I’m for a periodic forensic audit of elections in Texas, to clean up voter rolls to remove the duplicate, deceased, and relocated voters.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a worldwide problem and exists in every race. For the most part, it is limited in the US. I think the threat comes from the radicals that seek to destroy our American way of life and use racism as a way to frighten people into behavior that makes people believe that we have a more serious problem.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Free money is not going to solve the problem. It will just magnify the problem. If anyone deserves reparations, it is the indigenous people who were here first and had their land and way of life overturned.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

When it is done in a safe manner.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Security and infrastructure.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://www.facebook.com/JoeForTexasHouse

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Absolutely NOT!

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I support the adoption of the Legislative Priorities of The Republican Party of Texas and urge the Texas Senate and House Republican Caucuses to adopt these legislative priorities as their own.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

Police officers on duty acting within department policy should be immune from prosecution. Police officers acting outside of department policy should be disciplined in accordance with the law.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Mental health and community programs need to be available and funded, but not at the expense of the police and other law enforcement agencys.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The 2nd Amendment gives us the full right to gun ownership. I think that guns do not need to be in the hands of convicted criminals or those who have been diagnosed as mentally incompetent to own a gun.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

Dealers and manufacturers don't have any way of knowing what people will do with their guns.
