QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe there is a living, developing human being in the womb. As such, abortion is a procedure that kills a human being, and should only be permitted under extreme and rare cases when the life of the mother is at risk.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Planned Parenthood should get zero dollars.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
As a fiscal conservative. I oppose increases in spending and taxation at all levels of Government, and I will work to reduce wasteful and unneeded spending programs to keep that in line. Limiting spending can be done if we keep spending focused on core state functions such as law enforcement, courts, infrastructure, public education, etc. I have a plan to reduce our property taxes, which we can do if we are fiscally responsible. It comes down to three words: Prioritize. Limit. Dedicate. - Prioritize state spending to core functions ONLY. - Limit new state spending to account for population and inflation growth ONLY. - Dedicate all additional tax dollars to buy down local school Maintenance & Operation property taxes — nearly half of the property tax bill.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Federal spending is completely out of control. I am running for a state-level position and the state of Texas requires a balanced budget.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
I support religious liberty, I don't believe you lose your religious liberty rights when you open a business or work for others.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never. It's not Government's business to dictate to churches, and that violates religious liberty rights. I voted for the Texas constitutional amendment banning state or local authorities from prohibiting or limiting religious services.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. Govt should support healthcare and/or insurance costs for the truly needy, but Govt interference and spending has driven healthcare costs higher. The problem in healthcare of high-cost will not be solved with yet more spending, but by making the healthcare system more consumer friendly and encouraging more choice and competition, it will put a dent in cost of medical care.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I support informed consent and personal medical liberty. I oppose 100% the covid-19 vaccine mandates Biden is imposing via OSHA and on Federal contractors; nobody should be fired for choosing not to vaccinate.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Secure our border. Ensure we are only let in people to our country who are adequately vetted against having such ties. Work with regional allies and partners in mideast to identify and destroy Islamic terrorist cells and groups.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Yes! Our federal government has completely failed to secure our southern border! Texans have had to pay the price. Enough is enough. We Texans will need to step up and not ask permission from Joe Biden to do the job he is refusing to do, especially when the Biden administration is actively enabling the current disaster on our border.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We should eliminate illegal immigration by securing our border and enforcing immigration law. We should have limited merit-based legal immigration to the US. Bring in the 'best and brightest' to our nation.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
John Adams put it well: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." Liberty cannot be long maintained without a culture of individual responsibility and Judeo-Christian moral values.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Leftist ideological influence in our institutions of learning is now undermining our nation’s culture and identity with CRT and related leftist notions. Dangerous ideological “curriculum” based on Critical Race Theory is being brought into K-12, dividing students by race, imposing guilt upon guiltless children, and pitting students against one another. I believe that America is an exceptional and good nation, I reject identity politics, and I believe in equal opportunity for all.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. I am a Christian and a member of the Catholic Church; our family attends St Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown. As a Catholic, I am a member of a church with believers in practically every nation. We all are part of the same human race; our lives are sacred gifts from God. Those values inform me that I will need to have concern for every person in my district and in Texas as I make decisions, in particular protecting the vulnerable including the unborn; that I should work to keep families strong; and that I should work to keep Texas a place where faith is strong and God is honored, so that God continues to bless our state and nation (II Chronicles 7:14).
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voter ID has worked in Texas to help ensure people are who they say they are when they vote. I strongly support keeping Voter ID in Texas.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I support the Election Integrity bill that Texas passed in 2021, but it needs to be fixed and strengthened to restore serious penalties for voter fraud. I fully support voter ID requirements, protections against mail-in ballot fraud, strengthened penalties against illegal voting, and more. Furthermore, I will defend the right and duty of Texas to run its own elections under our laws and rules against any scheme by the Democrats in Congress.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is not a threat to our domestic security, but the harping on it and the use of this as a cudgel by groups like Antifa has led to violence and vandalism, as happened in last year's riots. That is a threat. Indoctrinating children to hate America by using racism or other perceived injustice to castigate America and its heritage is a toxic lie that will end up dividing us. that could be dangerous. We instead need to teach our children patriotic civics, a civics that teaches individualism, not collectivism, is the basis of equality and liberty; that children are neither oppressors nor victims but are privileged to live in this land of opportunity; and that America has, can and must always aspire to liberty and justice for all.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A - The main effort of environmental movement today is to use "Climate Change" as an excuse to undermine fossil fuel production and use. However, the cost of the regulations they propose far far outweigh even their stated benefit, nevermind that they greatly overstate the risks and harms of elevated carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The 'Green New Deal' is a Green Raw Deal.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Government's primary job is to protect our rights of life and liberty. It does so by keeping us safe in our communities, so the people can freely pursue making a living and achieving prosperity.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I am a Constitutional conservative. I believe in limited Government, individual rights and responsibilities, and the rule of law. I stand for pro-life, pro-liberty and pro-family conservative values.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
N/A.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My agenda: Secure Our Border End Vaccine Mandates Secure Elections Education – Empower Parents & Fight Leftist Indoctrination Prosperity – Reduce Property Taxes & Limit Spending Life – Protect The Rights Of The Pre-Born And Our Most Vulnerable Liberty – Support The 2nd Amendment Taxpayer Fairness – Ban Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying Prosperity – Energy Supremacy
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
The key word is 'qualified'. On Dec 22, 2021, a police officer in Minnesota who made a fatal mistake and mistook her firearm for a taser was criminally convicted of manslaughter. Police officers risk their lives if they don't react, and also risk criminal charges if they over-react or make mistakes. Removing immunity for cases where they did things 'by the book' puts too much burden on these officers.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
"Defund the police" has already been proven a dangerous failure that has led to crime increases where it is tried.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The only restriction on gun ownership that are needed for public safety involve limiting the gun rights of those who broke the law - felons - or those who pose a danger to themselves or others as proven in a court proceeding. I will fight against any legislation that would diminish a law-abiding citizen’s right to carry a firearm and protect themselves and their property, including opposing red flag laws that take away rights without due process. Texas has seen our Second Amendment rights championed in recent years with the passage of open and constitutional carry. I fully support these laws and Second Amendment rights as a part of our inherent right of self-defense, and I will not allow any government—local, state, or federal—to infringe upon them. I oppose magazine limits, AR bans, and any other limitation on your Second Amendment. Our founders got it right: Our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
