QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

A child with a beating heart shall never be aborted.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Governments should not undertake activities in which the private sector can perform the activity. Taxes collected for those activities ought to be abolished. No one should be exempt from paying at least 5% tax, and no one should have to pay more than 25% taxes. Local property taxes should be capped at 2% and sales tax should be capped at 4% for the state and 1% for local government.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Discretionary activities described above, plus state travel

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Absolutely through high school, but beyond that, individuals should be responsible for their own education.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

It cannot.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The government requiring a vaccination impinges on an individual’s right to bodily autonomy. An employer is not the government and has the right to condition employment on terms he or she wants, with only a few exceptions. If a 70 year old businessman only wants to hire vaccinated individuals, he has that right.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The U.S. should monitor threats and take military action only when no lesser means are available.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

I disagree with this, except I do believe that Palestinian citizens of Israel should full equality with their Jewish countrymen.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I think there should be two categories of immigration into our country. The first category or our nations proportionate share of refugees who are escaping through life or death scenarios, and are willing to submit themselves to the vetting process previously established in Republican administrations to ensure that they will assimilate into the United States without losing their cultural identity. The second group are those immigrants who apply for citizenship and have secured a sponsor who has a financial bond executed on behalf of the immigrant to ensure that the immigrant is a productive member of society and does not become a financial burden through being a ward of the state.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I agree that the Judeo Christian framework has created a moral backbone for this country, and I recognized that as children of Abraham, we have a lot more in common than we are different. With that being said, the first amendment necessarily protects our right to worship God in our own individual way, and if someone chooses to be Buddhist, Hindu, Shinto or some other religion (or not religious at all), it is inappropriate for the government to interfere with that choice

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Changing one’s gender is One of the myriad of rights that individuals have an a free society. However, we should never equate freedom of action with mandatory approval of such action by everyone else in society that either disagrees with the action for religious reasons, or just thinks it’s a bad idea.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Like so many political discussions in our time, we seem to be hopelessly separated Into two camps which themselves, are extreme positions. I categorically reject the assertion that the institutions of the United States, or the state of Texas for that matter, are fundamentally racist. By the same token, I recognize that the stain of slavery penetrated deeply into the fabric of society, and it would be naïve to think that there are not still to this day some improvements that can be made.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am Roman Catholic, and I believe the most important rule on this planet, which I and everyone else often fail to adhere to, is to love one another and to do unto each other as you would have done do you. In political debate, tempers flare and it is easy to forget this very important rule. My bailiff taught me long ago, God don’t like ugly.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

The Social Security death Index should be automatically tied to the Texas Secretary of State database so that when an individual passes away, a computer deactivated their voter registration, as well as their other state ID and drivers license.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

If a person loads his car with multiple weapons, and drives across the state to kill 23 Mexicans in El Paso, racism is a threat to domestic security. Likewise, when demonstrators feel entitled to destroy property and to commit acts of looting and other violence, racism is a threat to domestic security. Anyone who thinks that racism exists only on one side of the political spectrum or the other is living in an echo chamber.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Life is like a marathon; we all have to run a really long way and we all start more or less at the start line. If I were running for land commissioner in 1876, I would’ve answered this question differently. However, in 2022, someone who starts a little more behind the pack in the race of life is far more likely to have their parents to blame than the color of their skin.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. I am an anomaly. I am a right wing lithium producer. I am an anomaly because I believe that the desire to protect the environment must rise or fall within the context of a free market system. Mandating change by force of law is never as effective as by choice. Very few of us will go through a drive-through, eat a meal, and throw our trash out the window. We don’t litter because we are afraid of a fine; we recognize it as the wrong thing to do, and it doesn’t cost us money to refrain from littering. As always, there is a debate between the left and the right in which the left wants a result more quickly and at the expense of individual rights.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

We must do everything in our power to ensure that our state public lands, as well as as many privately held land as possible, are allowed to produce oil, natural gas and every other critical mineral or resource which may be harvested from the land. This is a matter of national security and solvency of the permanent school fund. As your next land commissioner, I will take every action possible within my office to ensure that our capacity to produce is not diminished nor stifled.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect its citizens from all enemies foreign and domestic, and to provide only those services and infrastructure which cannot be provided by the private sector in a laissez-faire economy.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Sometimes I feel that there is a slight tension between a social conservative and a person who cherishes individual liberty and freedom. My desire to not be required to pray to Allah in a government setting makes me likewise refrain from doing so to Jesus Christ in a government setting. However, there is a substantial difference between a government setting and a private setting, and the owner of a private setting can Set rules of worship as he or she chooses.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

As an entrepreneur with a proven track record of negotiating successfully with an oil and gas company in the realm of mineral extraction, I want to make sure the voters know that amongst all my opponents, I am the most qualified by experience to conduct these negotiations on behalf of the state of Texas and monetize critical minerals to increase the value of our permanent school fund. I also want the voters to know that I am going to put Texas Veterans first and create for them a mortgage benefit program that is far superior to a VA loan. when natural disaster strikes, not only will I be on the ground in the locale experiencing the devastation, but I will likewise keep all lines of communication open with the federal government and other state agencies to ensure that aid is delivered without delay and is never forfeited as has been done with $2 billion worth of hurricane Harvey relief funds, at least based on the status of them on January 15. I will ensure that the memory of the Alamo is preserved and the greater story of the failed colonization of Texas by Spain is part of that story, as it is the first time that Texans rejected central authority and asked only to be left alone. finally, I will ensure that the more than $4 billion currently set aside for Texas coast improvements and infrastructure projects remain viable and worth the return on investment to ensure that endemic flooding never again plagues Houston or any other coastal region.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I believe body cams assist in the rapid dismissal of frivolous cases brought against police officers, and for that reason, are a good idea.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I think convicted felons have forfeited their right to own a firearm.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
