QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

No taxpayer dollars should be used for abortion.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

In extreme cases where the life of the mother is in danger.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

I believe that churches should be free to discuss current political issues without fear of losing their tax-exempt status. The government should not promote or hinder any religion.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

I would just add that the Chinese government poses a significant threat to our country through the realm of social influence. Many young people have been convinced that socialism is an acceptable alternative to the American way. This is a result of undue influence from China and other bad actors on the world stage who are trying to destroy the United States from within.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We need to tighten our own borders, and better monitor the student visa process. The United States needs to quit giving weapons and money to our Islamic terrorist enemies. The ramifications of the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan will be felt for years to come. We need to crack down on the Iranian nuclear program. These are just a few examples of how the United States has mismanaged foreign policy and ultimately strengthened Islamic Terrorists.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

none

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. Steps should be taken to reduce the dependency on Medicare and Medicaid, eventually shifting this to entirely run by a state, if it so chooses. This should not be the duty of the Federal Government.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

We need the free market and individuals to decide how much money a person has. This is not the business of the government to determine economic winners and losers.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I would favor eliminating the immoral personal income tax. Until that day, I will fighter to lower taxes of all sorts on individuals and businesses.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The best and the brightest who can fit into the needs of our country. For instance, if we have a worker shortage in one sector that can not be filled by current citizens (example Engineers) then we need to open up our immigration process to them. Others, who simply want a better life must be allowed to immigrate as well. But this should be done in an orderly fashion with extreme vetting.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

This should be the case where department policy does not conflict with the constitution. For instance a police officer shouldn't be sued personally for writing a speeding ticket. However, if a police officer violates someone's constitutional rights while on duty, even if it it's allowed by department policy, they should face legal consequences. Thankfully, an instance where department policy would violate the constitution is rare.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

These are separate issues.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

Dan has a proven record of standing up for what’s right, even at great personal cost. Dan was honored to earn the trust of North Texas as the evening anchor for a local FOX and CBS station, giving facts without bias. He lost that job due to the vaccine mandate, despite his doctor telling him not to take the shot. Dan personally knows the cost and chaos brought by the woke Washington elite. He wants to stop the Federal Government from infringing on the sovereignty of Texas. He believes in America, the Constitution and reining in the Federal Government. Dan Thomas will stand up for our values and put America First. Dan is a committed husband and father, who has been married to his wife Sadie for 19 years. They have 2 children Lila and Logan. They are members of First Baptist Church, Sherman.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. My family and I are members at Frist Baptist Church, Sherman.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I believe we need to limit voting to in person except in extreme circumstances, example: military members serving overseas, someone with an extreme medical condition. A paper ballot should always be used to allow for a proper audit of the election results.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a horrible thing. We see the ideology of Critical Race Theory being taught at our schools and institutions, encouraging people to judge each other based on race. This is part of an internal decay that is plaguing the United States. The long-term goal of this ideology is to destroy our country.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
