QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Abortion is not birth control and should not be used as such. I believe current NC law addresses the issue appropriately.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Never.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Should religious schools which accept state funds be allowed to only admit families and students who agree to adhere to their statement of faith?

No

Public monies and religious institutions should be kept separate as to not blur the lines and create a system where churches feel subservient to the government.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Absolutely. The US must support the beacon of democracy in the middle east.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I believe current NC law is appropriate regarding this matter. Very limited circumstances.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The minimum wage and a living wage are different concepts. I believe that all labor is sacred and that those working 40+ hours a week in any field should be able to afford to live.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

The government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers in our economy.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

Dollars should follow the students. Tax credits, scholarships, and educational savings accounts can be used to support parents who choose private school options. Lessening the bureaucratic and administrative overhead and red-tape that our public schools must deal with would also give them a chance to truly compete without giving up on them. Accountability for all school models receiving public funds is essential.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Through my positions I've worked hard to support quality law enforcement officers in a variety of ways including through budgeting, the PBA, and advocacy. I'm endorsed by many in law enforcement and have a proven history of supporting officers doing the important work that supports safe and prosperous communities. Budgets represent the prioritization of values and public safety should always be among the top of the priority list.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The 2nd Amendment is of paramount importance to me. I do not believe this country has a gun problem- Certain communities have a crime problem. I'm a Life Member of the NRA and a fierce advocate for the protection of gun rights for law-abiding citizens. Prosecutors need to enforce the laws on the books and police need to be empowered to arrest criminals without fear of political retribution. The case for stricter gun laws has been debunked by data from the cities and states that have enacted them

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Generally, I believe the purpose of government should be quite limited. More government will not solve all the complex problems our society has and will have. Instead, government should focus on its core functions (and do them well). Some examples of core functions of government include infrastructure, the common defense, law and order/security, protecting property rights and individual liberties, and providing a functional public education system that creates an educated future electorate.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

VALUES

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent unless an emergency situation arises risking immediate death.

Strongly Agree

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am first and foremost a Christian. This means I believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, died for my salvation. I believe that we are all sinners and it is only through God's undeserved grace that we are saved. I believe man should seek to behave in the manner that Jesus lived but acknowledge that we will fall short for as long as we live. Baptized and raised in the Roman Catholic Church and continue to be a parishioner and receive pastoral guidance regularly.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

Voting absentee by mail ballot should be limited to those meeting at least one of the following criteria: 1) 65 years of age or older on Election Day, 2) sick or disabled, 3) expecting to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day, or 4) confirmed to be absent from the county of registration during voting.

Agree

I believe that election day should be a national holiday.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

True racism is a threat to the values and ideals of our nation and our security. Any force that seeks to divide us unnecessarily and cause infighting amongst citizens poses a risk to our very nation. I believe we are as susceptible, if not more, as a country from our own citizens rather than foreign actors.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

The term "racist" has been weaponized and misapplied so much in today's society that it overshadows the horrible reality that some bigots do exist. The rule of law is the best protection against bigotry and real racism.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
