OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
Federal funds should not be used to provide abortion access to private organizations.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion is personal and private healthcare decision.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Agree
There need to be proper social safety nets in place to protect working class Americans and overall working conditions and living wages need to be raised to meet modern day economic need for Americans.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
We need to work to make the tax code work for working class families. Corporations and the ultra-wealthy need to pay their fair share of taxes in order to alleviate the needs of middle class Americans. Closing loopholes in tax avoidances and offshoring of American Manufacturing should be a priority to ensure the American economy can continue to maintain a robust global superpower.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Religious diversity is a strength and has been since the founding.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The church and state should be separate entities in this country. The founders saw the error in the upholding state religion or prohibiting religious freedoms. Religious institutions should not have weight on Americans that do not practice the same creed as themselves. This is part of being a large, diverse nation that America has always been.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
When a clear and present public health emergency exists, such as measles, mumps, rubella, etc.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States should do everything to eradicate terrorism in all forms.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Agree
Physical security is not limited to a "wall", neither is it the only way in which we can provide security in a broad sense at the southern border. Issues like root causes and immigration need to be primary focuses of this debate.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Neutral
There is a discrepancy in how states and federal government agencies operate, federal law needs to be followed. States have muddied the water in federal immigration enforcement where there is a large issue in how the Federal government is acting in superseding of State laws.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone should be able to apply and immigrate to the United States. If you pass a vetting process and willing and able to contribute to the common good, them that should be the litmus test.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT is a college theory that was developed in academia. I do not believe that the institutional foundations of this country are fundamentally racist. However, I do believe that the individual biases of those representing those institutions have at times impacted the outcomes in a discriminatory manner.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Spiritual beliefs are personal. I value people.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I support the passing of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Neutral
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, it is a threat to domestic security. Any threat to life or liberty in this country is a threat to us all. The values of this country should be to eliminate hate, discrimination, and intolerance in public and private life.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
Provided that the risk to environment is minimized and corporations are liable for environmental damage done.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. Environment protection or a robust economy is a false binary choice. We can have both without sacrificing the other.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Liberal
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am a defender of democracy who is looking to unite people regardless of their creed or leanings, and do so in a transparent manner. Above all else, we must protect the ballot box and ensure free and fair elections.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
We should not defund police departments and public safety in order to fund other social service programs. We must increase funding for mental health and community programs. Both are important facets in protecting our communities.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Eliminate bump stocks, ghost guns, high capacity mags, gun show loopholes, increase wait times for purchasing of firearms, institute red flag laws, end the boyfriend loophole, and increased universal background checks at the state and federal level.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Neutral
Depends on the facts and circumstance of the individual case.
