QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Lew's deeply held Christian faith teaches him that all human life is sacred. Everyone has the right to life; a protection that can not and must not be violated. Lew Burdette stands firm that life begins at conception and will fully support pro-life positions. He will not waiver from protecting the unborn. As your Governor, he will passionately fight for those who have no voice.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
The Government should never force churches or any other places of worship to close.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Did not answer
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Alabama currently ranks #45 in Healthcare among state rankings. Health insurance and healthcare costs continue to rise each and every day. As your Governor, I will work to repeal and replace Obamacare and make sure that it is replaced with a comprehensive plan that will safeguard pre-existing conditions and patient rights. Since 2010, 17 privately run hospitals have closed in Alabama since Obamacare was implemented. Alabama currently ranks #10 in states with the most rural hospital closures since 2005. I grew up in a small town in east Alabama, and I'm passionate about rural healthcare. We must close the rural health care gap that exists in our State. I will strive to develop realistic, conservative healthcare reform that will increase access to healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and encourage competition between all healthcare providers in our State.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
100% against any Covid-19 vaccination mandates
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The Rebuilding Alabama Gas Tax should be paused and then repealed. The taxes on groceries should be repealed as well as the retiree tax and the business privilege tax.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
As governor, my first order of business would be to examine the education budget to find out why the state is not seeing any results for the money we are allocating to our schools.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The Federal Government should finish the border wall and protect our border from the massive influx of illegal immigrants. Federal & State Governments should also be able to enforce immigration laws and prevent any special benefits so that legal immigrants are rewarded for doing it right and that the magnet that attracts illegal immigration is stopped.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anybody should be allowed to immigrate assuming they are not a safety or security risk to the citizens of the United States and are willing to legally go through the immigration process.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
A child's zip code shouldn't determine their future. School choice must be enacted and I support it. However, I don't believe it is a blanket solution to all problems and the unintended consequences must be factored in. For example, school choice wouldn't immediately benefit children in rural communities where distance is obstacle to changing schools.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am a victim of gun violence however I am a strong supporter of gun rights and the Second Amendment. I believe Alabamians have the right to be safe, the right to be free from fear, and the right to protect their love ones!
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
As a victim of gun violence, I do not agree with frivolous lawsuits such as suing firearms dealers or manufacturers.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To protect and defend the people. It is for the people and by the people. Our leaders shouldn't be lifetime politicians but public servants who serve a limited time. Government should be limited in it's powers.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am running for Governor because our state is hungry for fresh, strong, proven and common sense leadership, to change how things are done in Montgomery. Alabama is hungry for a leader who has a career and experience in the real world: not just another lifetime politician. I have limited my campaign contributions to $10,000 or less to prove that I will not owe anyone any favors when I'm elected. My priority as Governor will be to finally lift our education system out of the gutter and bring common sense, business leadership the Governor's office in order to reform our state government.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
While I believe in the separation of church and state, our country was founded on the Judeo-Christian principles. Our liberties were endowed by our creator.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I have a deeply held Christian faith that teaches me that guides me in my life. My life experience has taught me that God is a miracle worker and that with him, all things are possible.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
We must maintain the integrity of all elections. Only legal US Citizens should be able to vote.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
We want to have fairness and transparency in our election process.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Did not answer
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
We want to be good stewards of the Earth but we don't need environmental laws that lack common sense and hurt our economy.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
