OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only in the circumstance to save the life of the mother.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
A number of changes are needed to the tax code. First, the overall tax burden should be reduced. Higher taxes results in reduced freedom for individuals and businesses. Second, the tax code should not allow for tax credits to be given in excess of taxes paid in by any individual; otherwise, the tax code is simply being used as a mechanism to redistribute wealth (which should not occur). Third, the death tax and estate tax should be eliminated in their entirety and permanently. Families who work hard to build wealth and who pay taxes throughout their lifetime should not be taxed at death when that wealth passes to their heirs. Fourth, the graduated nature of the tax brackets should become more like a flat tax. Currently, the upper bracket tax rates quell small business growth.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The phrase "separation of church and state" is not contained in our founding documents. The First Amendment to the Constitution clearly states the relationship between the church and state--that is to say that citizens are guaranteed the free exercise of religion, while the government may not establish a religion. The United States was founded on a Judeo-Christian ethic, and its laws and morality derive directly from the natural laws of God contained in The Bible. Churches should operate freely without fear of reprisal from the government. And, although the government may not establish a religion, that does not mean that government must be amoral or agnostic in its endeavors. It simply may not function as a conduit for religious governance as you would see in many Muslim countries today.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I am weary of government mandates in general. When it comes to vaccine mandates by the government, there must be a very thorough examination of when they might be needed, and a legitimate way for people to opt out. At a minimum, (1) the vaccine has been fully vetted, thoroughly tested, and the risks are fully known (2) the benefit of taking the vaccine substantially outweighs any risk to individuals who take the vaccine (3) the condition sought to be eradicated by the vaccine is one that has serious health effects on individuals and poses a substantial threat to the health and safety of society generally (4) there are no other known and vetted avenues for combatting the medical condition sought to be treated with the vaccine and (5) religious and health exemptions are permitted to allow individuals to opt out.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
B. The United State should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States should build and strengthen strategic alliances with moderate Islamic nations to isolate radical Islamic nations. It should also continue strong economic sanctions against any country or organization that aides terrorism and groups associated with Islamic terrorists, and it should continue to use tactical military operations to strike at the heart of Islamic terrorist operations across the globe. Finally, the U.S. should freely seek out and kill leaders of terrorism around the globe.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Limited legal immigration should be permissible when it benefits the United States by ensuring that we have sufficient numbers of individuals with skills, training, and education needed for maintaining and improving our workforce, education institutions, and national needs. It should also be available for a limited number of those seeking asylum from around the globe who share our views on freedom and liberty and who would otherwise face severe punishment if returned to their homeland. Our immigration system should utilize a pace that allows for our "melting pot" to work and provide sufficient time for immigrants to assimilate into our American culture.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am an evangelical Christian who believes that The Bible contains the natural law of God and sets forth moral truths that are absolute, irrefutable, and are the basis for our American founding documents and laws. I believe that the Bible is the inherent Word of God, and my personal and professional life is guided by a Christian worldview that emanates from The Bible and the truths contained therein.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
At present, the greatest threat to voting integrity is the mail-in ballot system, and the failure of states to enforce existing voting laws already in place. I believe mail-in ballots should be much more limited than they presently are. In many states, voting without proper identification is still permissible. This should change, as well. If individuals can show an identification to get tickets to a sporting event or board an airplane, they should have no problem showing proper identification to vote. States should strictly enforce their current voting laws, prosecute those who violate them, and changes in voting laws state-to-state should only occur through the normal legislative process (rather than through executive orders that bypass the concept of separation of powers and the normal legislative process).
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. But, racism is wrong in all forms. Whether from the right or from the left, treating individuals differently because of the color of their skin is abhorrent and contrary to the truth that all people are created in the image of God. Every individual has equal and eternal value in the eyes of God--regardless of their race or skin color. And, we should treat each person with equal and eternal value. Leftist movements such as the social justice movement and Critical Race Theory movement run contrary to the Biblical view of race relations and actually cause a deeper divide and mistrust between races in America.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I have a proven record of conservative involvement, dating back to the fourth grade in elementary school when I cast a mock ballot for President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Since then, I have decades of volunteer involvement for the Republican Party. Additionally, as a law student, I was privileged to be in the inaugural class of the Blackstone Fellowship through the Alliance Defending Freedom, where I also clerked for First Liberty Institute in Plano, Texas--organizations committed to preserving religious freedom in America. I did pro bono work as a licensed attorney on behalf of clients whose religious liberties were being assaulted. I have been married for 22 years and my wife and I have 4 kids (ages 16 to 4). We attend South Spring Baptist Church, where we have taught elementary Sunday School for the past few years. My legislative priorities include: (1) securing our borders (2) fighting against cultural marxism, critical race theory, and laws that promote moral relativism (3) preserving the life of the unborn (4) supporting law enforcement (5) fighting against government overreach and (6) reducing the tax burden on individuals and businesses.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
In general, there should be as few restrictions as possible on American citizens exercising their 2nd Amendment right. For public safety purposes, I do believe there is wisdom in preventing those with a severe mental illness and/or felony criminal convictions from possessing or owning firearms, but only once those individuals have gone through the full due process of law.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
