QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion is a state issue with Roe. V Wade recently being overturned in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. As Attorney General, I will support and defend the rule of law, not just when I agree with it. I will defend the Wisconsin law regulating abortion, including any future exceptions passed by the legislature. Currently, abortion is allowed to save the life of the mother and a mother may not be prosecuted.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None, the government should not close churches and hinder people from exercising their first amendment rights and I will defend religious liberties.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
A strong national defense along with well trained and equipped local law enforcement is key to eradicating and protecting against terrorism.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Changes to healthcare are not under the purview of the Wisconsin Attorney General.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The law is generally well settled regarding pre-COVID vaccine requirements in place for K-12 schools, public universities, employers, and the government. Exemptions are allowed. Those have mostly been widely accepted by the public, and have the benefit of long development and testing of the vaccines required. Employers, government, and schools should not be allowed to force someone to decide between their job or attending school if they don’t take COVID-19 vaccine shot.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Changes to the tax code are not under the purview of the Wisconsin Attorney General.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Balancing the state budget is not under the purview of the Wisconsin Attorney General.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support legal immigration to the United States, but illegal immigration must be stopped. Fighting illegal immigration helps deter drug trafficking, human trafficking and violence that accompanies illegal immigration and fosters compliance with our immigration laws. I am eager to work with border state governors and attorneys general and the U.S. Border Patrol in order to identify ways to help secure our nation’s border while ensuring legal immigration still occurs.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Parents are the primary stakeholders in their children's education.
Strongly Agree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
This is code for defunding the police and I oppose it. Law enforcement needs more resources and staffing to end the violence crime and drug epidemic we are experiencing with fentanyl killing kids at historic rates.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I will defend the Second Amendment and protect an individual’s right to possess a firearm, to use that for lawful purposes, including hunting and self-defense. We already have a CH 51 mental health commitment statute on the books that affords due process to restrict someone’s second amendment rights. This restriction requires the person to have a treatable major mental illness and to be a danger to themselves or others. If a jury makes this finding, with due process, it can restrict one’s right to possesses a firearm.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
We are seeing unprecedented gun violence in cities with record murder rates. Milwaukee is on pace this year to set a third straight murder record. We must enforce the rule of law and ensure dangerous criminals are not allowed to roam the streets committing this violence in our communities. I refuse to accept this crime epidemic as the new normal and I will work with local law enforcement to put an end to it.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The purpose of government is to protect the rights of the individual.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I will enforce the rule of law and make public safety my top priority as attorney general. I will fight to restore the law enforcement and prosecutor positions the current attorney general has defunded during historic violence and drugs. I will also fix the mess the attorney general created at our crime labs, having made them less efficient despite testing less items. I will fight to protect Wisconsinites against the overreach of federal and state government to ensure our constitutional rights are protected.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a practicing Christian.
Marriage between one man and one woman and the families they form are the foundation of civilization and are fundamental to the well-being and prosperity of Wisconsin.
Strongly Agree
Same sex marriage is the law of the land, and so long as it doesn’t infringe on religious institutions, I will defend it and enforce the rule of law.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I want to people to vote and to ensure that there is a level playing field across Wisconsin with all ballots counted and treated the same, regardless of where you live. Proposing and enacting election laws is the job of the legislature. As Attorney General, I will enforce and defend the rule of law. I support prosecuting those that commit election fraud but I oppose decertification as it unlawful.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
The Republican Party was founded with the goal to end slavery in America and successfully ended slavery with the passage of the 13th Amendment. America is imperfect, with a history of slavery and racism but America is the greatest county on earth, and I am proud of where we are as a country being a beacon of freedom to the world. I am also proud to be the District Attorney for the birthplace of the Republican Party and honoring the legacy of the founding of the party to ensure equal justice under the law for law.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. Solar, wind, and electric vehicles have an important role but the technology needs continued improvements to make those more reliable and to improve the ability for longer term energy storage.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
