I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
I believe Israel is a nation and they should decide their borders without their enemies having influence on what they do.

HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. Our healthcare cost should be reviewed and do what is possible to keep the cost affordable. The thought that we can give healthcare to those who don't want to participate in the burdensome cost of the healthcare system is a terrible idea. I believe the cost of health insurance is becoming prohibitive for most hard-working folks and the healthcare industry needs to offer solutions to keep general healthcare affordable.

ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Our tax system is overly complicated and needs to be simplified and streamlined. Government spending needs to be brought in line better with our abilities and priorities, making it easier for elected officials to cut taxes in both broad and targeted initiatives, focusing on usage to fund infrastructure and other public goods. One tax that Alabama needs to eliminate yesterday is the Grocery Tax – if we focus on that as a goal, finding the revenues to make it up, or cutting programs/moving fungible receipts to fund *necessary* spending that relies on the revenue from grocery taxes will be an easier lift.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
We need to assess what our long-term goals and needs as a state and as a country rather than fight piecemeal over outdating spending. I would focus on anything that burdens businesses – either in the amount taxed or the onerous requirements on businesses – and anything that disincentivizes investment. One idea is to move to Zero Based Budgeting – every year we do a wholesale review of where our money went, why it went there and if it needs to continue going there!

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
I believe the State should prepare children (K-12) for the next stage of life and allow them to decide what their future is. Providing taxpayer funded education (post-secondary) has the potential to encourage abuse and without any pay back consequences, the taxpayer will be taken advantage of. Those that choose to go directly into the workforce or technical college would not be given the same financial benefit as the student attending a 4 year university.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

I believe mental health is a unique issue that places more burden on our law enforcement in Alabama. We do need to allocate funding and resources to address the problem and treat the mentally ill rather than dumping them onto law enforcement which is adverse for both groups.

2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Those convicted of violent crimes and domestic abuse.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Those convicted of violent crimes and domestic abuse.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
That would be like suing and automobile manufacturer because a drunk driver killed someone while operating a vehicle. I am saddened for those that have lost loved ones due to gun violence, but truth is that it wasn't the gun, but the individual.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I’m running for office for my kids, eventual grandkids, and your future kids/grandkids. If we don’t get our priorities straight about what are doing and where we are heading, I am worried for their futures, and our way of life as a Christian and capitalist nation.

EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Attempts to divide Americans against each other by race can lead to extremism. I believe currently the issue of racism is not preventing anyone from pursuing the American Dream. I do believe that racism exist in small groups, but the general population has made efforts to be more inclusive and not allow racism to divide.
