QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Abortion is healthcare and just as other healthcare services receive funding and support from the govenrment, so should abortion services.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

Having worked in eldercare, I saw firsthand the suffering with no hope for improvement of various health conditions, and I believe we should have the freedom to make our own healthcare decisions including the decision to no longer suffer.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

There should be no medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Agree

I support redistribution by way of tax adjustments and incentives, and implementation of minimum wage increases that support the rights of workers.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Agree

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Closure of the carried interest loophole. Implementation of a carbon tax similar to the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, with an emphasis on curbing consumer reliance on fossil fuels to reduce consumption by reserving part of tax revenue for investment in technology innovation to reduce future carbon emissions.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Within the First Amendment is the guarantee of religious liberty. This means that laws and governmental practices should neither promote religion nor interfere with its free exercise, regardless of the religion or lack of religion being exercised. This is a fundamental pillar of American society.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

There should be a clear separation of church and state. While an individual serving in a governmental capacity may be religious, the governmental entity itself must not promote their purely religious beliefs or penalize others for having different or no religious beliefs.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Ideally every American should be able to make educated decisions about any substance we put into our bodies, while I acknowledge the necessity of government, school, or employers to provide for the health and safety of the collective in the face of infectious disease and debilitating illness. I support vaccine requirements in these circumstances, while Americans who choose not to vaccinate are free to make alternative schooling or employment decisions.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The United States should move to eradicate terroristic threats without consideration of religious affiliation.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Disagree

Focusing on "physically" securing the border is a fool's errand and only serves as a publicity stunt. We should work more with the communities on the border to address their concerns while also pushing for immigration reform that establishes a more fair and equitable immigration system.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I support much of the People First Immigration policy proposed by Secretary Julian Castro, as follows: Establish an inclusive roadmap to citizenship for undocumented individuals and families who do not have a current pathway to legal status, but who live, work, and raise families in communities throughout the United States. Provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and those under Temporary Protected Status and Deferred Enforced Departure, through the Dream and Promise Act of 2019, and defend and expand DACA, TPS, and DED protections, and re-institute the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans program during the legislative process. Revamp the visa system and strengthen family reunification through the Reuniting Families Act, reducing the number of people who are waiting to reunite with their families but are stuck in the bureaucratic backlog. Eliminate the backlog of 4.4 million people waiting for visas to reunite with their families. Recaptures immigrant visas lost to bureaucratic delay since 1992 and rolls over future unused visas to the following year. Allow spouses and minor children of permanent residents to immediately reunite with their families in the United States. Eliminate per-country limits for all visas, ending the decades-long wait time for citizens of certain countries to immigrate to the United States. Provide relief to orphans and widows, allowing them to continue to wait in line after the death of a sponsoring relative. Allow for equal treatment of all stepchildren under the visa system. Reduce wait-times for certain children of veterans from the Philippines that fought in World War II. Eliminate discrimination for LGBT families in bi-national same-sex relationships under the visa system. Terminate the three and ten year bars, which require undocumented individuals—who otherwise qualify for legal status—to leave the United States and their families behind for years before becoming citizens. Rescind Trump’s discriminatory Muslim and Refugee Ban, other harmful immigration-related executive orders, racial profiling of minority communities, and expanded use of denaturalization as a frequently used course of action through the USCIS Denaturalization Task Force. Increase refugee admissions, reversing cuts under Trump, and restoring our nation to its historic position as a moral leader providing a safe haven for those fleeing persecution, violence, disaster, and despair. Adapt these programs to account for new global challenges like climate change. End agreements under Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and other such agreements between federal immigration enforcement agencies and state and local entities that erode trust between communities and local police and end ICE detainers. Allow all deported veterans who honorably served in the armed forces of the United States to return to the United States and end the practice of deporting such veterans. Strengthen labor protections for guest workers and end exploitative practices which hurt residents and guest workers, provide work authorization to spouses of participating individuals, and ensure guest workers have a fair opportunity to become residents and citizens through the Agricultural Worker Program Act. Protect victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, ensuring these individuals are not subject to detention, deportation, or legal reprisal following their reporting these incidents.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Sexual orientation and gender identity are innate characteristics and individuals should not be discriminated against because of who they are.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I grew up learning about and appreciating world religions, and support my friends and family of all faiths or belief systems as long as they are not weaponized. Spiritual beliefs are personal, and ever evolving. I believe in equality and respect, and that differences are not inherently positive or negative. We are strengthened by our differences, and the best decisions are made when we're able to share our varied perspectives and ideas and democratically decide what is best for the whole.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

Unless access to approved photo identification is made available to every eligible voter without charge and without discrimination, a photo identification presents an unwarranted barrier and equates to a poll tax. Voters are required to register and the registration systems in place have long served as a safeguard against voter fraud, with minimal exception.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Voting access should be increased by removing burdensome requirements such as the currently cumbersome and unnecessary procedures surrounding voter registration and mail-in ballot access, as well as removing restrictions placed on voting times and measures that were enacted to increase the number of people who vote.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a threat to domestic security. We are experiencing a rise in white supremacist domestic terrorism and violent rhetoric and threats are becoming more normalized in everyday politics and our society. We need to face this threat head-on and ensure that individuals can live freely in our country, regardless of their perceived race.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

I support hydraulic fracking, as natural gas production and LNG exports are instrumental in combating the global challenge of climate change, as we move to replace global reliance on coal. Affordable energy is important, and we must simultaneously incentivize the transition to renewable energy sources as we reduce reliance on fossil fuels across the globe. Drastic, unrealistic change to domestic energy policy without consideration of the global impact is irresponsible.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. We can invest in pragmatic energy policies that bring jobs and investment resources into Texas.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Liberal

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

http://sheslegend.com/robin-fulford/, https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/06/21/texas-activists-held-their-breath-outside-supreme-court-bracing-for-decision-on-abortion/

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My priorities are focused on education, energy, healthcare--to include eldercare, equality, and fulfilling promises to our veterans.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Disagree

While I understand the necessity of police officers having the protection to make split second decisions in stressful circumstances, our system is not built to address inherent bias. The current system is inconsistent and skews in favor of the institution and away from the public. We must address systemic racism and bias built into our systems, while protecting good police officers doing their jobs to the best of their ability.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Agree

Police are not equipped to answer all calls for help, and we need to allocate funding appropriately. It is a waste of taxpayer money to send armed police officers to respond in situations best addressed by mental health professionals. As our understanding of mental health evolves, so must our systems.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We need to institute stricter background checks, a repeal of laws that allow open carry without a permit, and red flag laws.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Agree

When firearms dealers and manufacturers are negligent, encourage illegal behavior, or actively engage in risky practices such as irresponsible marketing, they should be held accountable. Civil liability is an important part of injury prevention.
