QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The current tax code is obsolete and does not serve Montanans. It needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from the bottom up to better serve Montanans - especially full time residents and those who live on a fixed or limited income. One thing is certain - we need to strengthen our residency laws so out-of-state residents cannot avoid paying taxes on their vacation home in Montana. Additionally, we need to ensure counties and cities are prioritizing certain projects such as infrastructure through their own levies so they do not have to rely on state and federal funds in certain cases whenever possible.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

There is too much bloat and duplicate work being done among our state agencies. In addition to downsizing agencies and increasing efficiencies, we need to put an end to annual pay increases for state employees - especially given the number of positions which far exceed the average salary for the private sector. That is the low hanging fruit. In our public education system, we can eliminate funding for things such as a university course in "Ecological Responses to Climate Change" and public funding for a project like Romney Hall when the school has a 9-figure endowment. Finally, we can eliminate Medicaid Expansion. It was one of the worst bills in state history with the largest fiscal note in history. Medicaid expansion is an incentive for able-bodied people not to work.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Under no circumstance should the government ever close a church. It is unconstitutional.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. At this time we cannot fulfill basic and necessary services for our seniors, so any cuts would not be appropriate. Much of this is a federal issue, but in the states we can make some changes in healthcare to take care of our seniors and veterans. Three things that must happen at the federal level are allowing competition for insurance across state lines, holding big pharma and insurance companies accountable, and depoliticizing the FDA.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Under no circumstance should any vaccine be mandatory.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Finish President Trump's wall at the Southern Border, end catch and release, end our refugee program and so they are resettled in countries in their region that share their values, and eliminate foreign aid to countries where terrorists are harbored.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

I fully support Israel.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

The fastest way to do this is to elect a conservative president in 2024. We need to empower our forces at the border and provide them with the latest technology and other resources they need.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We need to have a merit-based system and thorough vetting of anyone seeking to immigrate. Anyone caught violating immigration laws needs to be deported to their home country at the expense of that country's government and banned from entering our country again. There is no question that we are a country of immigrants. In past generations, immigrants have continued to celebrate the traditions of their homeland, but those people also assimilated to our nation's values and culture. We need to return to being a melting pot society - not a cultural mosaic.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Laws such as those are a form of discrimination and encourage victim-hood. As our first Charter of Freedom - the Declaration of Independence - states: all men are created equal.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

Government should not be in "the marriage business."

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Any institution which teaches or condones CRT needs to have their accreditation revoked and be stripped of all funding. Any public teacher who teaches CRT ought to be terminated and have their license revoked.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

We are all God's children, created perfect in His image.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

You should have to show valid government photo ID and be a legal resident of the United States and the precinct in which you are casting a ballot.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Among other things, we need tougher photo ID requirements, end all forms of ballot harvesting, and a require a 24/7 livestream of anyplace ballots are being counted.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. For years, all Americans have lived side-by-side in relative peace. The radical left, groups like Antifa and BLM, and the liberal media incite violence and blame conservative Republicans as a means of raising money and winning votes. It is one of the most un-American acts in history. Those who engage in an organized attempt to incite violence which is race-based are largely the problem. Often times people are paid to incite violence and impersonate others to entice them to break our laws.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. Man made climate change is a hoax. The majority of the laws put in place do nothing to improve this nation. Furthermore, many of the people who campaign against energy sources such as coal and hydro live in large cities where they help form the cloud of smog surrounding their community. It is hypocrisy at it's finest. Jobs related to coal, natural gas, hydro, and other baseload sources create great-paying family wage union jobs. If we relied strictly on wind and solar, no one would have power the majority of the time. We have seen the harm done when we are mandated to use energy from hobby projects like wind and solar. This is exactly what led to rolling blackouts in February 2019 and caused the death of 111 people in Texas. However, one regulation that needs to be put in place is a limit the percentage a foreign entity can own in any energy facility or resource. We have seen China take control of coal and other strategic energy sources across the globe and it is a threat to our nation's safety and health of our economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

We must always have an all of the above energy strategy.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The Constitution states explicitly what the role of government is. It ought to provide for public safety, mint our currency, and raise the military.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

View my supporting statement on returning $1.8 billion of your money to you: https://hungryhorsenews.com/news/2022/aug/10/mitchell-wants-special-session/

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My constituents can reach me anytime. I am grateful for you reaching out to me for assistance and to give your opinion each and every day. Even if the legislature is not in session, I still work for you. This upcoming session I plan to focus on a wide range of issues from tax reform to election reform.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment is clear: "...shall not be infringed." Everyone should own at least one gun and gun safety should be taught in public schools. If everyone had a gun, nearly all physical crimes - such as murder, burglary, and sexual assault - would be eliminated. Especially in our schools and banks, employees should be able to carry a loaded firearm for the safety of themselves and those around them. There is not a single restriction I support when it comes to firearms. You should have whatever you want and the government has no need to know what you have. Restrictions on gun ownership and gun-free zone signs are two of the greatest threats to public safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
