QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Nearly 40% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal in all or most cases. In the heart and mind of someone who is pro-life, abortion is a serious moral issue. Under no circumstances should the American people be forced to fund abortion through their federal, state, and local tax dollars.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

As human beings, we are not meant to be the arbiters of life and death. Doctors take an oath to "do no harm", and legal assisted suicide/euthanasia snuffs out a viable life. It is just as reprehensible as abortion.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am pro-life because I am pro-woman. As a Christian woman I feel uniquely called to defend the most defenseless among us. The unborn child cannot speak for themselves. We must steward the lives that God has granted us and work diligently to uphold its sanctity from conception until natural death. As a Representative, I will fight for the rights of the pre-born and the rights of the states to enact laws to protect these precious lives. In the event of an imminent danger to the life of the mother, abortion could be considered as a grievous and sad necessity.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely. Currently, our federal government spends an average of $7,000,000 a minute. Our national debt, ever growing, is near $20 trillion. Yet despite this, it is not treated as a priority. This needs to change.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

We must simplify our tax code. I am a supporter of either a consumption-based system or flat tax system with limited write offs to make the system clear, fair, and simple across the board.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Freedom of religion is a founding principle of our great nation. It deserves the highest level of protection under the law.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under no circumstances can the government compel citizens to violate their religious beliefs. This is why we have precedent in place for religious exemptions, conscientious objections, and protected expression of religious principles. In Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the Supreme Court noted that the Constitution protected the religious and philosophical objections to even viewpoints that would be termed as "discriminatory" by some.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

That “separation” of church from state that the founders wrote about was deliberately set up to keep government from determining how we can worship. It should not be used to keep religious values out of government. The first amendment forbids the assault on any legitimate religion by the US Government from the establishment of national church/ religion. However, the moral principles founded in our religious values influence the policy decision of our country. Likewise, voters’ values are determined by their religious beliefs and therefore how their vote on their representatives. The correct order of affairs, therefore, is to have religion influence policy and not policy influencing religion.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Schools and employers have legal precedent, but should respect medical and religious exceptions and should never treat any employee or student differently on the basis of vaccination status. Governments have no such legal precedent to compel their citizens to receive a vaccine or medical treatment.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. Medicare and Medicaid should remain available, but do not increase taxpayer-funded programs. Much like Ronald Reagan’s Grace doctrine for economic issues, we need a common sense solution for health care. If we had open markets for insurance companies across state lines, that would cure a lot of issues. Secondly, if we had a select group of doctors, parents who pay for medical bills, and insurance companies in the room, they would get far more done than federal bureaucrats that are influenced by lobby money. We need common sense people who run the day in and day out of industry leading this conversation.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

My beliefs best align with C. The US does well to respond with non-military actions to foriegn countries. For example, many countries get aid from the US. US aid ranges from NGOs providing in-person assistance to US funds going to humanitarian aid. The US additionally uses this aid to promote certain actions from the foriegn governments. For example, the United States’ Trafficking in Persons report (TIP) assigns a certain level of counter trafficking measures that a particular country carried out in a year and from that ranking the US can withhold or extend certain aid packages. Thus, the US sponsors counter-trafficking initiatives in foriegn countries without having a military presence in that country. There are many other examples of this tactic. On the other hand, the US can use sanctions against countries for actions we disagree with such as our sanctions against North Korea for their WMD program.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

Israel resides in a geopolitical area where the main goal of the nations surrounding it is the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish population. To forbid Israel from possessing land which it seized via the six-day war, a conflict Israel did not initiate, would be to deny any form of protection from a nation which lives every day in fear of its own neighbors' wrath. The West Bank, just like the Gaza Strip, is a barrier to ensure the continued existence of one of America’s closest allies.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The US has been engaged in war in the middle east for far too long. There is an entire generation that has grown up under the “war on terror” and where US troops have been in the middle east. Our current administration fumbled the withdrawal from Afghanistan and left our allies, US persons, and billions in equipment in Afghanistan all while leaving a political vacuum in our wake. The problem of Islamic terrorism is a cultural one. Our actions in the middle east have not helped to fix the root cause of Islamic terrorism in the US–that cause namely being the hatred of the US that has been instilled within islamic youth for generations. The way the US can work towards solving this root cause is in non-military or asymmetrical warfare i.e. engaging the hearts and minds of the populations both foreign and domestic. In recent years, the US has given up any sort of pro-US informational campaigns to engage foreign populations in support of the US while other countries do engage in both anti-american propaganda as well as promote their own country and country’s agenda worldwide.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Our border is acting as an open wound, allowing for weapons and drugs to infect our nation with little to no interference. Our representatives and law enforcement need to be empowered to prioritize the safety of the American people and enforce national law. This year, Fentanyl overdoses became the leading cause of death among US adults aged 18-45. Fentanyl seizures at our border have doubled since 2020.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

I value and supports legal immigration to this country, but Sanctuary cities, or cities that act as though they are exempt from immigration law, wreak havoc on our justice system and promotes an industry of organized crime funded by weapons, drugs, and human trafficking.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I value and supports legal immigration to this country. But because we are a great nation, we can afford to be specific about who contributes to the future of our country. My own father was an immigrant from Greece. As policy makers, we should look to Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, United Kingdom, who utilize a merit-based immigration system, in which the majority of those permitted to migrate are applicants who meet a strict criterion . Examples of this include: • Ability to speak, read and write the language of the receiving nation. • Level of education. • Professional or trade licenses/certifications. • Offer of employment in a certified shortage occupation. • Ability to support self and immediate family members. • Age (i.e., number of years an individual is likely to work before qualifying for government-funded retirement benefits.) • Record free of criminal convictions or national security concerns Organized cartels take advantage of and create opportunities for chaos at the border. They exploit gaps in border security to create an influx of terrorists, narcotics, and human traffickers into the country. Illegal immigration does not only concern peaceful asylum seekers who are looking for a better life. Human trafficking is $150 billion industry annually that provides illicit funding that fuels cartels and terrorists. This criminal enterprise directly affects the safety and Texas residents and businesses. I will work to uphold our border laws and enact steeper penalties for traffickers utilizing the border. Additionally, I support any measures to enact an official terrorism designation for cartels.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Neutral

If we make a list of every person who should not be discriminated against we will always be at risk of leaving someone out and them being at risk of discrimination. The bottom line here is we should not discriminate against others.

iVoterGuide Notes:

After the voter guide was published, candidate notified iVoterGuide that the intended answer to this question should have been 'Disagree'.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT has no place in our schools. CRT teaches our children that the US is systemically racist and that is factually untrue. Congress needs strong leaders who believe our children should be educated with facts that are not clouded by propaganda. I will stand against Critical Race Theory, both in our classrooms and in any government sector, and will empower parents in our community to do the same.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My worldview is informed by my Christian faith. When I came to Christ at 16, my values changed. I knew that with committing my life to Christ that I had to commit that life to seeking His will. With that transformation came the desire to cultivate the Christian values of love, forgiveness, mercy, and kindness while simultaneously requiring justice, honor, honesty, and an unwavering loyalty to doing what is right. I have found that the constitutional Conservative values of hard work, individual responsibility, limited government, and freedom of choice parallel perfectly with this faith.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

No, people should not be able to vote without photo identification. Our country has made obtaining identification necessary for many basic services, included driving and sometimes even library services.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Each voter has a right to express their opinion in voting for their elected representatives. A vote is a civic duty, a check on political power; and the voice of the people must be treated with the respect it deserves. To honor each voter’s right to participate in electing their governing officials every vote must be counted correctly and treated fairly. This cannot be done when ballots are cast by illegal aliens and deceased persons. I support the necessary measures to clean up our voter rolls and implement voter I.D. so that only eligible, permanent citizens can cast votes in our election. I also support the necessary audits to ensure the integrity of our elections. If we lose our electoral process, we lose what is unique about the United States of America. It is more than evident that something must be done about election integrity in our country. By tightening up our voter registration process and shifting power away from federal powers that would seek to meddle in state affairs, we would begin to earn back the trust lost in our electoral proceedings.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe racism is wrong in every context. America’s history of racism and slavery is real and despicable. We should never glorify or defend a practice that abused millions of people around the globe. However, America has made great strides since the days of slavery. The main factors hurting the african american communities in today’s society can be seen in liberal and democrat-run cities where minorities are facing poverty, a cycle of violence, drug abuse, and poor education. The solutions to these problems are educating young Americans about drug abuse, and advocating for a culture that uplifts keeping the fathers in the home and children in school.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

The American government must maintain energy independence. The United States does need to support domestic oil and gas production. Lack of energy independence is a national security issue.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

My view is closest to the one represented by position A. We owe our citizens a reliable, low-cost supply of energy. But in order to support our expanding population's needs, we need to do two things: to get gas reasonably priced and to get inflation in check. Collin County boasts bike-able sidewalks, walkable communities, and great infrastructure, but our most utilized form of transportation are our cars, and in order to support more members in our community, we need to make sure they can actually afford to get around town. Our gas prices have skyrocketed in the past year. President Biden claims that our rising gas prices are all the fault of Russia and OPEC. And it’s true – Russia and OPEC will always be stingy, which is why it is the job of the American government to maintain energy independence. The United States does need to support domestic oil and gas production. I am not comfortable with America becoming like Europe, dependent on Russia for gas during a season of low production in renewable energy. While all the environmentally contentious member states were present at the Glasgow COP26 climate summit, Russia and China were nowhere to be seen. There is no doubt that when the world is at its knees, begging for supply, those two will come to meet the demand. Lack of independence in our energy and gas sector is a national security issue. It is important that our nation prioritizes a healthy climate. We also owe it to our citizens to have breathable air, clean water, and clean food supply. We can support our own domestic oil and gas production in the most climate-sensitive way, all while recognizing that oil and gas insecurity in the West can surely lead to an emboldened China, who is the greatest worldwide polluter. There will be no clean and healthy environment when war breaks out over supply insecurity.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I am a conservative, through and through.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2021/10/18/as-collin-county-trends-purple-republicans-draw-us-house-boundaries-that-bolster-gop-power/ https://www.texastribune.org/2022/01/06/van-taylor-jan-6-insurrection/ https://americasvoice.news/video/JzBURwCE8bH2VNf/

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

With the missing leadership we currently have, our district needs a representative who has a strategic vision for Texas and understands contracts and negotiations. I am a Washington outsider, not an incumbent or career politician. Instead, I bring a unique perspective to the problems that plague our country. I am seeking office with a background in business as an executive who is used to building business, solving complex problems, and adding value to my company, clients, and the community. Texas needs a fighter who will stand up for religious liberties, election integrity, border security, who will counter human trafficking and put an end to all the runaway spending and unconstitutional mandates. I have a keen understanding of the challenges ahead, but I firmly believe our Constitution and this great Republic are worth saving. My goals in office are simple: it’s time to curb government spending and balance our budget, to get inflation under control, to bring back American values, and to kick out corrupt politicians. It’s time for an American patriot to prioritize our border, our economy, and the freedoms granted to us in the Constitution.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

Yes, they should be immune when following policy and training. They risk their lives daily for us. They should not be punished for implementing the training they have received.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

No, I do not support any fashion of “defund the police”, no matter how it is phrased or framed.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

For all law-abiding citizens, the government should not restrict the purchase and possession of firearms and putting a limit on our second amendment rights. American liberty is in part founded on the ability to defend oneself from individuals or tyrannical government and to that end our second amendment rights are crucial.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Disagree

Just as you cannot sue a motor vehicle manufacturer for an accident by the hand of the driver, victims should not be able to sue firearm dealers and manufacturers for the sins of the wielder.
