QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None. Life is a valuable gift from God and begins at conception and runs til natural death. There are viable alternatives to abortion.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The office of Lt. Governor of Texas does not affect the US Tax code. Also, the state of Texas does not have state income tax for individuals. For the state of Texas, I am a proponent of phasing out Property Tax Revenues as currently designed and replacing me that revenue with a consumption tax. and reduced spending.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

The Lt. Governor in Texas is a member of the Legislative Budget Board which sets the mission for the state's budget and the parameters by which the agencies file their Legislative Appropriations Requests. Since the Legislative Budget Board sets the standards for the agencies, one could weed out wasteful and redundant agencies. The Texas legislature may not allocate funds to spend that exceed the biennial revenue estimate which leads to spending cuts. Some examples of those spending cuts would be subsidies to renewable energy sources and Texas Enterprise Fund, both which have had a terrible return on investment for tax-payers.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Requiring businesses to provide services that violate their moral or religious beliefs flies in the face of liberty and freedom of conscience.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Medicare and Medicaid are complex and engrained into government-provided healthcare for certain individuals such as our senior citizens, children, and low-income families. With the growing population of Texas and projections of growth over the next 20 years, we need to reduce the % of budgeted revenues assigned to Medicaid and Medicare. Frankly, we need to reduce our dependency on federal government payments to Texas with strings attached and enable insurance companies to provide attractive medical programs to all Texas citizens. With less insurance regulations and a more competitive landscape, citizens can purchase affordable healthcare programs. Healthcare is not a right but rather a choice of investment by citizens. By enabling the marketplace to provide custom policies and citizens to be more active in managing their out-of -pocket cost, their insurance coverage, the cost of healthcare will go down.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Zero

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

On the federal level un-redacting the training manuals for the FBI would be a start. As it pertains to the state level on this issue, Texas' immediate concern would be preventing those terrorists who are using the opportunity to cross our open border with Mexico. If we do not protect our border we are allowing the movement of not only cartels who Traffick drugs, weapons and humans but also terrorists as well. Understanding the threat for our state will help us be more prepared. Training of local and state law enforcement is paramount to understanding how organizations within the larger terrorist networks operate. The need to understand the funding mechanisms that provide material support for groups such as Hamas are also critical for our state agencies to recognize.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

Serving as the president of a state wide organization I actively supported anti-bds legislation in the 85th Texas Legislature which did pass.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

As a border state this particular issue is of paramount importance and we have a federal government that is derelict in its duty to protect our border. Taking actions allowed in both the US Constitution and our own state constitution, we need to take back the land we ceded along the border and instead of receiving those crossing illegally they should be should be arrested, remove non-governmental organizations (NGO) tax-exempted status, finish the real wall and declare cartels as terrorist org.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone that can come through the legal process and meet the requirements.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a christian who believes that I am saved by the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. My walk as a christian is to be one that models Jesus, to love mercy, act justly and walk humbly. When it comes to my values, they are aligned with biblical values and love, faith, goodness, kindness, gentleness and much more, make up how I will view and respond to the world. Love and kindness, forgiveness and charity does not mean one must accept what ever culture tells you is the way to "think" or to "behave", I can disagree with someone vehemently without being harsh, attack someones character or be hateful. I believe the truth found in Jesus Christ is the most relevant aspect of living.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Return voter fraud crimes back to a felony in the state of Texas. Voter Registration database with restricted input/output access and precinct only voting Paper Ballots, sequentially numbered, hand marked, watermarked and paper poll books for voters to sign No wireless, no cellular and no computers Vote results submitted to Central Count on paper 3rd Party Verification and Audit Poll Watchers protection; standing to sue, no oath requirement Chain of Custody from start to finish

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No, to be clear, acts of racism do still occur, but the aspect of this issue that is a threat to the domestic security of this country is "identity politics" and it is heartbreaking and sickening. Dividing us into groups in efforts to prove one race is better than another is the absolute definition of racism - which is what those that are using identity politics are participating and propagating, to makes matters worse they want to teach our children to judge each other by their skin color. Racism must be called out whenever and wherever it occurs but so must identity politics, those using identity politics have actually harmed those that truly do suffer.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy that does not mean however that we cannot be good stewards of this planet without going "green new deal."

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Government is a framework, it is not the total of what we do or who we are. Whether national, state or local, government is to never be substitute for the people or overtake the people. It should serve as as a way to keep up infrastructure, safeguard our liberties, mobilize resources in a national disaster and provide for our common defense.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I have had the opportunity by leading both state and local organizations to work on public policy over the last 14 years. I understand our Texas legislative process and I will continue to work on issues that matter to the conservative voters. Some of those issues are securing the Texas border, securing our grid( something I have worked on over the last decade) prohibiting gender modification to children (actually had model legislation for Texas in 2019) fighting human trafficking, increased election integrity, ending taxpayer funded lobbyists, no medical mandates, property taxes are just a few. One thing I must include, children need to be protected, when children are in school they are there to be taught fundamentals such as math, reading, writing, history and science. This is not a time to ask them what gender they would like to be or see how many ways we can divide them among race, sex, etc. Teach children critical thinking skills, teach them to read and love of learning and they will search out answers and be life long learners, that is the job of education. We should not be burdening teachers with new social constructs and mental health analysis as part of their classroom responsibilities.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Can we legislate public safety? It seems we could do better if we did more to understand the rights we do have with the second amendment and what that looks like for us as citizens than trying to find ways to make gun ownership more onerous for law-abiding citizen while criminals will simply ignore the restrictions.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
