RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

What is the world missing in the sciences, culture, and arts from the 60+ million babies that never got their chance? Legal exceptions for rape and incest should never be seen as a primary solution for trauma and violence. Emergency care and immediate reporting of sex crimes must be the emphasized solution, not abortion. This would give law enforcement the support they need to make sure the same violence is not perpetrated on other women. In a just society, it is the perpetrator who should suffer for the crime, not an innocent baby. I have personally known incredible people who were products of rape and incest. I can’t imagine the world without these wonderful people in his life. Medical doctors differentiate between “abortion” and a medically necessary treatment known as “preterm parturition” to save the life of the pregnant mother and the life of the baby, if at all possible. It is not necessary to have an “abortion” exception to protect the life of the mother.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

While reducing the size of state government, I will utilize state budget surpluses and cash and investments (PERSI pension funds NOT included) to permanently abolish Idaho Income Tax with no disruption to essential services. For the average Idahoan making $50,000 a year, abolishing Idaho income tax will return an estimated $3000 into the family budget. Eliminating income taxes will start an upward economic spiral and add more capital into our economy. This will allow us to divorce ourselves from our heavy dependence upon federal grant dollars. Property taxes, while necessary to fund local governments, are weighing heavily on Idaho landowners. My plan will cap property tax increases, make property taxes predictable over the lifetime of property ownership, and eliminate unconstitutional supplemental levies. No one should lose their property from skyrocketing property taxes. One of the best ways for Idahoans to fight socialist growth is to limit the number of tax dollars that are being used to grow the size of government. We need a way to help politicians keep their promises, therefore, I propose that we enact a Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) in the Idaho State Constitution that guarantees that state taxes cannot increase without the approval of the voters. It requires voters to approve tax increases on the ballot and established when those questions can be put to the ballot.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We must do better with the services that are essential and necessary and eliminate the programs that are not essential and necessary. Untold millions of our tax dollars are being funneled into agencies and private non-profit organizations that seem reasonable and necessary but promote Anti-American ideas that violate our state constitution. We need to defund these activists. Everyone supports more funding for public education, but education dollars fund the Idaho Education Association (IEA), a subsidiary of the NEA which announced they are putting tens of millions into a legal fund to take down anyone who opposes critical race theory. Education dollars also fund liberal textbook companies that promote special-interest science and socialism as “an economic system that makes up for the shortcomings of capitalism." It is hard to argue against funding preschool to help youngsters to get a jump start on learning, but who wants tax dollars funneled to a subsidiary of the NAEYC which promotes “anti-bias education” and claims that white children need education to prevent “internalized oppression.” We have long supported PBS favorites like Sesame Street, but do we want to fund an agenda that says even babies have “white privilege?” What about NPR that uses your money to fund “anti-racism workshops for NPR and Member stations.” We currently fund "woke" art and abortion referrals to Planned Parenthood. We fund a Transgender Resources guide and critical race theory courses at Boise State. We have now paid over $1 million in salary to the Leftist President of Boise State University. State agencies and taxpayer-funded non-profits do an incredible job at organizing efforts to ensure their chosen candidates and causes are successful during elections. If we continue to ignore that you are paying activists to harass our communities, then we are helping to ruin Idaho and destroy the American Dream. On Day 1, I would start reviewing the budgets of every agency. It’s my commitment to leverage the line-item veto against waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. I will cut the budget of any state agency that funds unconstitutional, anti-American, or wasteful programs.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Obviously, the state of emergency and the COVID restrictions have been a disgrace. During the recent pandemic, the Idaho Governor closed churches but allowed bars to remain open. There is no rational reason for that decision.


HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C is the answer that most reflects my view. Medicare and Medicaid should remain available. However, we currently have about 125,000 people on Medicaid in Idaho and our Governor's 2023 budget includes a 6.6% increase in Medicaid spending. Over the last 10 years, our labor force participation has dropped by 10 percent which indicates that workers are being incentivized to remain on welfare and not work. At a time when the Biden administration is pushing for universal basic income, and a time when we have a severe labor shortage, Idaho needs policies that get people back to work.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Through the pandemic, we have learned that science is for sale and that our trusted healthcare institutions have become politicized for profits. The danger of government bureaucrats and corporations making medical decisions for the rest of us cannot be understated! The Governor and state leaders who support him have refused to act to protect basic medical freedoms. Their excuse is that “government should not interfere in the relationship between private business and their employees.” Ironically, it is those same businesses, with their lobbyists, that keep them in power. The healthcare systems are heavily subsidized by taxpayers at the federal, state, and local levels. Add in a slush fund of millions of federal COVID dollars that reward the implementation of federal policies and mandates, and you have a perfect storm of corruption where our tax dollars are funding the destruction of our freedoms. As Governor, I would use my authority under Idaho Code 67-802, and require the State Attorney General and the county prosecutors to open an investigation to determine if internal hospital practices have been manipulated to maximize their receipt of taxpayer-funded grants. I will ban vaccine and mask mandates in workplaces and schools.


NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

1. Stop the flow of illegal immigration at the southern border. 2. Idaho is the third-highest state in per capita refugee resettlement. The Governor must craft a refugee resettlement policy that does not harm Idaho. We must stop refugee resettlement through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) which discriminates against Christians. Many countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the largest voting bloc in the UN, have outlawed Christianity and do not support the Judeo Christian ethic upon which our nation was founded. To compassionately aid the plight of refugees, we must support private organizations and aftercare that are not funded by our tax dollars, and that operate within the best interests of our state and country.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Build the wall and empower our border security to do their job. We must stop allowing cartels, terrorists, and traffickers to invade our country and destroy the lives of innocent people.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Since I am seeking the office of Governor, my power to influence immigration issues would be very limited. However, I believe my own family experience provides a model for our immigration goals. I am a first-generation American whose mother and brother fled communism in Eastern Europe. My family came with a belief that to prosper, you must work hard and play by the rules. Through God, hard work, and education, I have lived the American Dream and now fight for the freedom that my family cherished so deeply.


EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Nothing will have a more positive impact on promoting the free exchange of ideas and wage growth for teachers than school choice. With school choice, tax dollars will follow the student and families will choose how their children are educated. More choices mean more innovation where parents can choose from a robust network of charter schools, private schools, homeschool, and public school. School Choice is a "hill I am ready to die on."

I introduced a bill in the 2021 legislative session to ban critical race theory in public schools. I partnered with influential Idaho legislators to defeat HB226, a $6 million supplemental appropriation bill that would fund Idaho preschools through a non-profit organization that promoted CRT. I will defend Idaho against state tax-dollars, federal grants, and non-profit monies that promote critical race theory.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I grew up living on the "wrong side of the tracks." About eight years ago, I found God and was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Finding God and knowing that he died for my sins has profoundly changed my life. My wife and I are raising our children to love their Heavenly Father, to know their personal Savior, and to live by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. I strongly oppose any effort to destroy family values and believe that families are the most important unit in our society.


ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

After the November 3, 2020, election, I organized the formation of the Citizens Committee for Election Integrity which crafted 14 Minimum Standards for Fair and Honest Elections. These standards have been adopted by the Idaho State GOP and became the model for the National GOP. They were read into the US Congressional Record on January 6, 2021. 1. No minimum distance in observing the vote 2. Secure chain of custody at all times 3. Equal voting standards across the state 4. Voter ID and signature verification required 5. Use of physical paper ballots only 6. Auditable tracking system for all ballots 7. Total number of printed ballots must equal the sum of cast ballots, spoiled ballots, and unvoted ballots 8. Ballot tabulation conducted by two independent, unrelated systems 9. Tabulation machines to tabulate only with no modification of ballots or internet connection 10. Ballot counts must be reconciled with voter records before election can be certified 11. Voter rolls purged 180 days before an election 12. Election laws and regulations can’t be changed for 180 days prior to election 13. Election records preserved for 22 months 14. Voter ID for provisional ballots must be verified prior to that ballot being counted 15. No automatic voter registration when driver’s license issued (“motor voter”) Additionally, in my published Election Integrity Policy at www.edforidaho.com, I have proposed 11 additional safeguards: 1. Fix chain of custody vulnerabilities 2. Ban “ballot harvesting” 3. Establish waiver of fees for Photo ID for individuals with severe financial hardship 4. Make sure the legislature maintains legal standing over elections 5. Prohibit early vote counting 6. Strengthen citizenship verification procedures 7. Restrict private drop boxes 8. Establish more stringent procedures to verify the accuracy of voter registration lists. 9. Ensure voting tabulators have no “back door” connections to the internet 10. Investigate clear evidence of election fraud in the 2020 election 11. Establish post-election audit requirements for future elections.


EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is morally wrong and unlawful and should not be tolerated. However, the real threat to our domestic security is socialists/communists that have exploited and amplified divisions between the races in order to subvert our Constitution. The concept of "equity" where one group has more rights than another group, is contrary to our Constitution's guarantee of equal protection under the law. Groups deemed oppressed by those with "white privilege" are races who are not "white," those who have a different "gender identity" than male or female, or those who identify as LGBTQ+. I advocate for true "diversity" where people are not judged on the color of their skin and where we honor and are enriched by a "diversity" of ideas.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Voters need to be aware of how reparations will be implemented if the economic takeover of our country, "The Great Reset," is successful. You and your business will be assigned an ESG credit score. ESG stands for Economic, Social Justice, and Governance. This score determines how much you will pay for credit, insurance, and access to the supply chain. If you do not have the required number of "oppressed" minorities, or if you have not supported liberal causes then you will pay more.


ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. I believe that we can reasonably preserve the environment and eliminate costly regulations. The biggest threat to our economy and our freedoms is multi-national corporations and government leaders who are pushing the climate change agenda. The "special interest science" that has supported the global hysteria over climate change should have been debunked long ago. Our foremost priority must be to stop ESG credit scores promoted by World Economic Forum (WEF) and the UN Agenda 2030. I also support nuclear energy, which was pioneered in Idaho. Nuclear energy provides 20 percent of the nation’s energy and 55 percent of the nation’s “clean energy.” Nuclear energy has proven to be one of the safest forms of power generation, despite the claims of fear-mongering activists. The United States and Idaho must lead in global energy rather than cede their influence on nuclear security to China and Russia. Currently, US taxpayers are on the hook for about $2.5 million a day in liabilities to power companies while clean, carbon-free, sustainable energy is being wasted.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

As a younger man, I worked as a roughneck on an oil rig and learned first-hand about the oil industry. We need to explore every viable option for extracting oil and recognize when "special interest science" is being used to perpetuate the claims of radical environmentalists whose goal is to shut down energy independence for our country.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The Preamble to the Constitution says it best: “To establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, to ordain and establish the Constitution of the United States of America.” To understand and protect these concepts as the Founders intended, we must have a thorough understanding of American History, which is why I support the recommendations of Trump’s 1776 Commission on patriotic education. I strongly advocate for state sovereignty where the federal government acts within the limits of the Constitution and allows decisions to be made at the level of government closest to the people. I completely reject the “central planning model” where society’s problems are solved by “experts” who make decisions for the “collective good.” To curb federal overreach, we must begin the process of divorcing Idaho from federal grant money, require government agencies to operate within the limits of the State and US Constitution, and support citizen leaders rather than career politicians through term limits.

I am a Constitutional Conservative. My policies are a collection of deeply held beliefs that have come through the lens of history. I try to pattern myself after Ronald Reagan because of his unmatched legacy of fighting global communism and his conservative economic policies.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I currently serve as a GOP Precinct Committeeman, and Region IV Chairman where I serve on the Idaho Republican Party Executive Committee. I was also the Idaho State Director for US Term Limits to promote term limits on Congress and understand the legislative process. I was deeply disturbed to discover that there is a ruling class of career politicians in Idaho. In just three years, our state spending has grown by 32 percent, with 20 departments and more than 180 agencies. That is unacceptable to me! We have to change course and promote free-market principles and the American dream again. I am a financial advisor with a Masters in Finance and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Analysis. As a financial advisor, I managed A $40 million book of business, the savings and retirement funds of families who put their trust in me to protect their earnings. Having a finance guy at the helm will be incredibly powerful because if you want truth in politics then you must “follow the money.” Untold millions of our tax dollars are being funneled into agencies and private non-profit organizations that seem reasonable and necessary but promote Anti-American ideas that violate our state constitution. We need to defund these activists. We need to investigate the corruption between corporatists and state leaders. THEN the state government will be accountable to the people. I was urged to run for Governor by everyday Idahoans who worked with me on several citizen-led political efforts that were very successful. Time and time again, I’ve found that by engaging citizens on the issues most important to the people, we can make meaningful changes. As a private citizen, I was able to lead out on efforts like the Committee for Election Integrity and tackling critical race theory (CRT) by introducing the bill banning CRT in public schools in the Idaho House Education Committee. But most importantly, I walked away from financial planning to run for Governor because I’m deeply concerned that Idaho is making the exact same mistakes that so many other states have made. As a first-generation American whose mother and brother fled communism from the former Yugoslavia, I have a deep, personal understanding of how freedoms are lost. My family is putting everything on the line right now because we wholeheartedly believe it’s NOW or never to make a serious course correction. I have three main priorities: I. Restore Government for the People Our Founding Fathers understood that when our God-Given Rights are protected, as outlined in the Constitution, people do better. I emphatically reject the “central planning model” where society’s problems are solved by “experts” who make decisions for the “collective good.” Programs and policies based upon the collective good may sound compassionate, but make no mistake, the aim of the collective good is collective control. To protect Idaho Sovereignty, I will: A) Begin the process of divorcing Idaho from federal grant money. B) Fight federal overreach into Constitutional freedoms. C) Require government agencies and administrative rules to be within the confines of the US and Idaho Constitution. D) Support citizen lawmakers rather than career politicians through term limits for Governor and for U.S. Congress. II. Abolish Idaho Income Tax At the end of 2021, Idaho state income tax was higher than 39 other states, sales tax was higher than 33 other states, and fuel tax was higher than 31 other states. Utilizing state budget surpluses and cash and investments (PERSI pension funds NOT included), I will permanently phase out income tax with no disruption to essential services. I propose a true tax decrease, NOT a shell game where taxes are raised elsewhere. On average, taxpayers would have $3,000 more per year in their pockets. To protect your money I will: A) Use a line-item veto to cut waste and fraud in the state budget. B) Shield taxpayers from future tax hikes with a Taxpayer Bill of Rights. C) Ban all state agencies from hiring lobbyists to secure funding and avoid oversight. D) Cap property taxes. III. School Choice for Families (130 words) In the Founder’s blueprint, problems are solved by returning power to the people. Families, not lobbyists and the IEA, should decide how their children are educated. School Choice is “a hill I am ready to die on.” My education plan will: A) Allow the money to follow the students so parents can choose from a robust network of public schools, charter schools, private schools, or homeschool. B) Require each member of the State Board of Education to sign a pledge affirming the recommendations of President Trump’s 1776 Commission for patriotic education or be asked to resign. C) To facilitate the creation of new schools, I advocate a loan program for innovative teachers to buy buildings to start their own micro-schools. Teachers would make more money under school choice.


CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Officers deserve due process just like everyone else. Justice should be blind. Let justice take its course without politicians dumping gasoline on the fire. We should NEVER release body-cam footage or dash-cam footage until an investigation is completed.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Our officers are severely underpaid. Many of them must purchase equipment that they need in the line of duty. Proposals to defund the police are funded by socialists who want to tear down our society. All we need to do is to look at Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco, to see how well defunding the police is working.


2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am extremely cautious of any effort to deprive a citizen of their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. We must restrict the abuse of power by activist, anti-2nd Amendment prosecutors. "Red flag laws" should only be applied in only the most extreme of circumstances after there has been due process in a court of law.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
