EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
School boards are charged with approving policy decisions that affect what students learn, how students are taught, how learning is measured, how teachers are supported with professional development, how funds are managed, and how effectively the community is engaged around student learning.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
This responsibility lays on the State, in a effort to try to standardize this I believe the authority to set curriculum and determine resources should remain with the state, but should be really inspected and regulated more.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Do you support mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school?
Yes, we have an obligation to be considerate and think about everyone.
ABOUT YOU
Why are you running for this office?
***TAKING CARE OF OUR OWN*** Our maintenance and nutrition staff are gravely underpaid. These individuals represent the backbone of our schools that keep our schools running especially during the pandemic. It is a grave injustice that we cannot do right by them by providing them decent wages. **Restructure SAC (in school & out of school suspension)** Currently students with disciplinary issues are kept here with meaningless work to do and being forgotten. **Making sure the school Bands obtain newer uniforms more often** Our band kids march and perform in their band uniforms in these hot temperatures. Naturally sweating is bound to occur. We make our kids wait 2-3 years for new uniforms, and in the meantime force them to continue using old uniforms. **Enhancing our communication with Americans with disabilities** Introducing American Sign Language as an available course in Aldine. Allowing our students the opportunity to communicate with people from all walks
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Strongly Disagree
