I am pro choice and believe in a woman's constitutional right to control her own body. I believe abortion should remain legal throughout the 2nd trimester. Abortion should also remain legal beyond the 2nd trimester in cases where the pregnancy jeopardizes a woman's health.

The constitution provides for the freedom of religion. Churches should only be closed in extreme circumstances, such when virtually all institutions were shut down to protect the population from spreading the coronavirus.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The separation of church and state means that people are entitled to practice their beliefs or non-beliefs as they choose, without government interference. It also means that the government cannot selectively favor one type of belief over another. This is a fundamental principle of the constitution.

I believe healthcare is a basic human right and should be offered to every California, regardless of their ability to pay. During my tough times, I was on Medi-cal, and I appreciate that the government was there to support me when I needed help. I would continue to support Obamacare and seek to have universal comprehensive care for all Californians.

I am a medical doctor and an attorney at law. I also hold masters degrees in business administration and public health. My undergraduate degree is in genetics. I have a firm grasp of medical science and the law and am uniquely qualified to guide California through the end of the pandemic and beyond.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Mine is a comeback story that I hope inspires people. After becoming a cosmetic surgeon, I had a wonderful life with a thriving medical practice and three kids. After a back injury, I took opiates and could not stop taking them. I unknowingly became addicted to drugs and lost everything. I entered a recovery program 7 years ago and turned everything around. I regained my medical license and my practice is thriving once again. I also became and attorney and run a charitable foundation that offers free cosmetic surgery to children who have suffered from traumatic head injuries and radiation hair loss from treatment for brain tumors.

Gun violence is a scourge on our nation. I believe in universal background checks and a ban on assault rifles. The founders of the constitution guaranteed a right to bear arms, but they did not foresee the magnitude of devastation today's weapons could cause.

Racism and divisiveness increased dramatically throughout the country during the Trump administration. This is unacceptable. This country is a melting pot that was created by immigrants. We are strongest when we are united and the country must get back to embracing all people as equal.
