RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

If a woman becomes pregnant at a time in her life that she is unable for whatever reason (religious disapproval, financial, age, tying her to a partner she doesn’t want to be tied to, rape, incest) she should be able to make that decision knowing she can have a medically safe termination of that pregnancy. If any woman finds herself in this difficult choice, it is something that will stay with her forever and I don’t believe that anyone takes it lightly. It is an extremely difficult and emotional decision. Being forced to have a child when you are not prepared has kept more women in poverty throughout the world. Terminating a pregnancy should be allowed up to 15 weeks.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Neutral

PP should receive some funds because they supply medical help to those who can’t afford it.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

I do support “aid in dying” laws for those at end of life with terminal illnesses.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Californians pay the highest taxes if almost any state (as Newsom says “The California Way”) We need to do a complete audit of all taxes that we pay and have accountability for those funds and cut the massive over taxing.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I want to reduce most government spending. We have an abundance in the California budget this year because we are over taxing our citizens, not because we are so efficient with the funds.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

I would like to offer free 2 years of community college or trade school to kids who attend school regularly, participate in sports or part time work and maintain a “C” or above average. There needs to be involvement and encouragement by the students to attain this, things given for free without a vested interest is not as valued or appreciated. I believe education is THE key to ending systemic poverty.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

This would depend on the business and service.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Any legitimate church or house of worship should not be closed by the government. There is a separation of Church and State in the US. We have had quasi religious groups (like Jim Jones & the Branch Davidians) that would not be considered houses of worship.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B I don't think the government should take over health care but the government could supplement insurance payments. The government was very active in getting people vaccinated for Covid 19 but if they were that concerned about the health of the population they would be giving out insulin and heart medications.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I believe the bare minimum of vacations should be required. No EUA (emergency use authorization vaccines) should be required. We should teach kids how to be healthy with diet and exercise etc.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

I think we are doing what we can now.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Agree

As an immigrant from a war torn country, I believe all people should be equal and not oppressed.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

There have been almost a quarter of a MILLION (221,000) encounters with illegal migrants in March of this year alone! Every country needs a secure border. Every country requires anyone entering to show their identification and reason for wanting to enter. Ask any Ukrainian if they need and want a stronger border.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

As an immigrant myself, I am pro legal immigration. I believe no person is “illegal” but their status may be. This proposal covers 2 issues that are impacting California. Right now we have hundreds of thousands of people arriving at our southern border, at the same time we have thousands of businesses that are struggling to hire staff. With all the immigrants coming to the border and all the businesses in California needing staff, why not combine the two to alleviate both issues. Most of the positions that businesses need to fill are entry level, low skill positions that a lot of citizens don’t want to do. The United States and California have long depended on immigrant workers to fill these sorts of positions. I propose that we vet and match up immigrants with businesses that need employees. The immigrants would be given the opportunity to work for 2 years at a business in the program, pay taxes and start to learn English and if they can do this, and be checked on periodically through the 2 years. It would give them a pathway to residency. If they can not complete the 2 years they would be returned to their country of origin to apply through the legal process and those who do not want to participate or are incapable of participating they can wait at the border for their application for immigration to be processed.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

Knowledge is power and the more knowledge people have the more empowered they feel. I believe education is THE key to ending systemic poverty.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

The 10 Commandments still hold up today.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

I support all people. I think there should be 3 categories for many things especially sports. Male, Female and Non-Binary. I don't think that anyone who went though male puberty should be able to participate in female sporting events as a competitor. Women have had to fight for equality and Title 9 in sports, if some of these trends continue we will have only males who identify as female in the LPGA, WNBA, Olympics etc.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

Love is Love. I support all people.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

Lets teach the truth of our history and learn from all our country's past so we never repeat the negative history and grow together as a UNITED nation. We don't need to spread hate.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am an immigrant from a war torn country (Belfast, Northern Ireland) and organized religion ruined my country and was part of the reason we are living in the United States. I am more of a spiritual person who believes in persona responsibility and caring for our fellow humans and treating people how you want to be treated and respecting others opinions.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

We need ID's for almost everything. Some people say it is racist to ask for photo ID's to vote because people of color would not have the documentation. I find that hard to believe that people of color would not have documentation but if that is the case...LET'S FIX THAT. If it is cost or paperwork that people need assistance with, let's help with that.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I want to have the voting rolls cleaned up and verified. Mail in ballots must be requested every 2 years and not automatically sent out.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a threat because it disenfranchises people. We need to be strong as a United group not divided against each other.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

There have been many unjust things perpetrated on many groups of people. Most of these occurred 100-400 years ago. Native Americans, Africans, Chinese, Japanese, Mexicans, Irish, the list goes on. Most people living in the United States are blended so giving reparations would be virtually impossible to implement.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

We need to use our resources and not depend on other (questionable) governments.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is Maintain social order. Provide public services. Provide security and defense.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

I am Green Party. Non-violence. Personal responsibility. Gender and social equality.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

There have been some debates on the California Debate series and some voter questionnaires.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No I have not.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am fiscally prudent and want to stop the taxation abuse of the citizens of California. I have a great solution to the homeless crisis. I am on the victims side, not on the criminals. I want to have a day annually to honor our citizens who wear a badge (Police, sheriff, fire department, and CHP personel). The job they do is difficult and they deal with humanity at their most trying days. I believe education is THE key to ending systemic poverty. www.GovernorHeather.com

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Neutral

If it is department policy and they are following the code they should be immune. If they are not following policy then they would not be immune. If the policy is wrong then the policy should be changed.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Funds should be added, not redirected.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Guns should be licensed like cars with biannual renewal and insurance to cover any injury or damage caused by guns.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Neutral

If they did not follow laws then they should be able to sue.
