QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Although I do not like abortion and I do think it's brutal, I also don't think I'm entitled to tell someone else what they can do with their body. How do I draw a line for when it's OK or not OK? Some want a 100% ban and I can respect that, but for me to be judge and jury over someone else's life, one that I'm not involved in or know their story, isn't a position I'm comfortable with. I'm open to discuss this and perhaps have a timeframe where a woman needs to decide, but I also want them to be safe, as well as, the doctors should be entitled to say yes or no to performing the procedure. I know this is a sensitive, hot topic, and not a popular answer from someone running on the Republican ticket, but I'm being honest with my view.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would need a full understanding of how money is being designated now. I fully believe in supporting the Police, Fire, DPW, Public schools and the services they provide. I don't approve of non-government spending without taxpayer input. I also don't approve of free college or the excessive unemployment payments we have now. I've served on the finance committee since I was first elected in 2008, we did eliminate all non-government related spending, so it can be done.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
In short, its the separation of religion from political power where the government cannot establish a national religion or forced religion. This is a private, non-government, act. Public schools (state) are an arm of the government which should also never have a forced religion. Freedom from religious discrimination, everyone has the right and the choice to worship or not.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Neutral
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
If the government wants to be involved, then truly help make it affordable and accessible to all. Nothing is free as someone is picking up the cost, which is not being distributed fairly amongst all the users. Those of us that pay for insurance are forced to have coverage we don't need. Monthly payments have quadrupled, deductibles are outrageous, pharmaceutical prices are inflated, making your insurance actually unusable - for those with high monthly rates and high deductibles. The ACA just shifted who can get coverage and who can't. I certainly don't have the solution but we clearly have a problem. Investigation into this issue should be addressed free from political interference and self-serving interests. If government really wants to help people, and I agree that pre-existing conditions have been an issue, people shouldn't be denied coverage, but we also shouldn't be forced to pay for a policy that you can't even use.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I fully believe in legal immigration and appose illegal sanctuary cities and the endless, disturbing, border crossings we have going on now. This is a never ending political battle that needs to be resolved. I absolutely approve of a path to citizenship and helping others in need, but in a humane way vs. the crisis we have again on the border. This constant cycle of illegal activity must get resolved and removed from the political battlefield. We are dealing with peoples lives, but have made this more about politics, power, and control.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My beliefs and values are simple. Treat people with dignity, and be an honest, law abiding, contributing member of society. Your spiritual believes are your personal business and choice.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a moderate Republican who believes in limited government, personal choice and responsibility, and the free market (vs. government control and manipulation). The government's role is to service the needs of the citizens, not control them, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and quality education. Fire, Police, and the military serve the public in very key and important roles, for both personal and property safety, as well as, maintaining public order and enforcing the law.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a small business owner of 20 years, working part time locally in purchasing and accounts payable. I have 27 years of professional experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain and Operations Management. I received my Bachelor degree in Business Administration and Operations Management in 2010. I am currently the Mayor of Waterloo since 2019 with over 13 years of experience serving my community on the school board (8yrs) and city council (11 yrs).
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am tough-minded and passionate about Wisconsin and America, and I'm genuinely concerned about the state of affairs today and what kind of life my grandchildren are going to have. I am a moderate Republican who believes in limited government, maintaining public order, and enforcing the law - equally to everyone. I am not a politician, rather an average person who wants to help improve the lives of people in our communities. We are past due for a change in how government is run as we've allowed too much power to be in the hands of a few. I'm hoping to be a sensible, reasonable, voice in Madison who will work with everyone. We need more collaboration and less emphasis on party lines.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I fully support the 2nd Amendment and the right of the people to 'keep and bear Arms'. People with ill intensions will always find a way to cause harm, with a variety of weapon choices. People have every right to protect themselves. Taking these rights away from legal abiding gun owners is not only wrong its inhumane. I personally don't believe we have a 'gun' problem, we have a 'human' problem. Lets address the disorder that's causing this chaos and harm against innocent people.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
I'm equally concerned about several things, along with many people I've already spoke to in my district. Their priorities will help drive the focus. However, opening our state is a high priority. We need our businesses open, people back to work, and off of unemployment. We need to have the students ready for the new school year - free from the curriculum indoctrination madness happening now. Election reform, term limits, and state aids to the municipalities are also important. We need to take care of our roads, water, sewer, and support and fund our police and fire departments. There's also a lot of concern about health care costs as mentioned prior.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racially and ethnically motivated violence is definitely a threat today, which I believe the government plays a huge role in this. I'm appalled at the violence going on in communities and leaders who allow this destruction and chaos to continue and fester, and the media shares a role in this chaos as well. The word racism, along with all the other 'ism's is severely over used and is a bully tactic that isn't helping or solving anything. We need people to talk and work together in a rational manner, not be the louder voice in the room looking stirring the pot.
