QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

pregnancy due to rape, incest, or to save mother's life.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

I'm opposed to minimum wage standards, but believe it should be up to the states only.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Stop taxpayer-funded giveaways to special interests. Make programs justify their existence or expire. Cut the regulations taxpayers pay to enforce. Shrink the licensing bureaucracy. Rein in state-imposed development financing tools.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The phrase is not in the Constitution. Jefferson wrote it to assure the Danbury Baptists that government would never interfere with their church. The First Amendment forbids a state church and protects free exercise of religion. That wall protects the church from the state, not the state from the faith of its people. Our founders prayed, invoked providence, and built this nation on a firm belief in God. The phrase was never meant to push faith out of public life, and I will not use it that way.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C The best way to lower healthcare costs is to remove barriers that keep providers out of the market, which is the work I have done on physician workforce and licensing reform.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is the only free republic in the Middle East and America's most reliable ally in the region. We share the values that matter most: freedom, the rule of law, and the right of a free people to defend themselves. The partnership protects American lives through intelligence sharing and missile defense without putting our troops in harm's way. And it is about keeping our word. America must stand by its friends, especially when it is hard.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My faith in Jesus Christ guides how I strive to live, how I treat people, and how I serve. I believe families are the foundation of a strong society, and that faith, honesty, hard work, and service build good communities. I believe God gave every person agency, the freedom to choose, and that government should protect that freedom for everyone, not crowd it out. Religious liberty is a foundational right for people of every faith. My beliefs teach me to serve with integrity, keep my word, and treat everyone with respect, whether they share my faith or not. Those values guide me at home, in business, and in public service.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Disagree

I believe in responsible stewardship of Utah's land, water, and air. I do not believe alarmism or federal mandates are the answer, and Utah's approach proves you can protect both the environment and the economy.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I support an all-of-the-above energy strategy. Coal, gas, and oil remain essential to affordable, reliable power. Green energy can compete on its merits. Responsible stewardship and a strong energy economy are not in conflict. Utah proves it.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

no

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

no

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The first goal of the criminal justice system is to protect the public. That means holding offenders accountable, delivering justice for victims, and backing the law enforcement officers who stand between our families and those who would harm them. I have sponsored legislation strengthening penalties for assaults on peace officers. A just system punishes the crime without destroying every path back. Protection first. Accountability always. Redemption where it is earned.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None for law-abiding citizens. The Second Amendment is a right, not a privilege, and I have defended it at every opportunity. Public safety comes from punishing criminals who use a firearm to harm others, not from treating millions of responsible gun owners as suspects. An armed, law-abiding citizenry is itself part of public safety, able to defend family and neighbor. Punish the crime, not the citizen. My record: NRA A+ rated. I authored and floor-sponsored Utah's firearm preemption law.
