QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Why would we need instruction or services in schools from abortion providers?

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

School districts have constituents and if those voters desire change at the state level, they can contact their state reps and senators to communicate this. Taxpayer funded lobbying shouldn't be necessary if you have a truly invested and involved district.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I agree with what Benjamin Rush said "Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal nor universal." Public education is essential. It's the indoctrination we need to get out of the schools.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Why in the world would a school district be involved in anything that has to do with marriage? How about school districts should not discriminate against anyone regardless.

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The function of the local school Board is oversight of education. Through this role, the Katy ISD school Board serves the district's children in overseeing the highest quality education. As education value is typically tied to a community's real estate market, the Board also serves the community's entire taxpayer base by implementing policies that protect and increase their home values. The Katy INDEPENDENT school district Board of Trustees have the exclusive power and duty to govern and oversee the management of public schools of the district. The sovereign power of the district has been forgotten, tossed aside and diminished in the last few years. As a KISD board trustee, I will ensure the Board remembers and retains its delegated power and duty to its constituents and will answer to those electors. A Board is beholden to its community and I will bring back that function and that value to this precious community.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

This is an interesting question. Currently, the Board designates the Superintendent as the curriculum leader in charge of establishing procedures for the design and delivery of the curriculum. Without question, the level of education in Katy ISD is well above par compared to other districts in Texas and even the rest of the country. We have a huge blind spot, however, when it comes to teaching our elementary aged children to read. Phonics is no longer taught in the district which is harmful to children long term and can lead to learning issues. We need to bring back phonics to all of our elementary level education classes. Katy also needs to be giving teachers more autonomy in their curriculum choices. I have heard from many secondary level English teachers that they are not permitted to teach the books they love. If one of our highly qualified teachers wishes to teach a particular piece of literature, as long as this is approved it could only be good for the students to see this teacher's natural talents shine through their passion for this/these particular book(s).

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Good God never. Never ever ever should a parent be restricted from speaking in a school board meeting. In case that wasn't clear, NEVER should a parent be restricted from speaking in school board meetings.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

American History (also World History) Language Arts Mathematics Science Art & Music Physical Fitness Foreign Language Information Technology Political Activism Personal Finances. Several of these should not be discussed/taught in schools. No Social Emotional Learning, No Gender Identify discussions, NEVER any Critical Race Theory, No Sexuality. No CRT, No SEL, No Gender Confusion Classes for Kids and No Sex in Schools.

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

STOP teaching this garbage in schools. Let's get back to reading, writing, math and history. Why are we teaching SEL and Sex in schools?

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

Local control should be maintained always. For too long, Katy ISD has been taking state and federal money which requires compliance with dangerous and harmful policies and curricula. This needs to end. Maintain local control and say no to federal money.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Teach actual history, not manipulations of such.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

I support school choice. Money should follow the child so that when a district becomes too much of an indoctrination center or becomes more interested in harming children than education them, the parents should be able to use their tax money to send their child elsewhere.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a deeply spiritual person with beliefs rooted in judeo-christian values. Beyond that, I would prefer to keep additional information about my spiritual beliefs personal. My moral compass is straight as an arrow; I do not compromise my values for any personal or ideological gain. Ever.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

No boys allowed in girls sports. Ever. No exceptions.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents, guardians and caregivers of children are the only responsible parties. School districts, in partnership with these parents and guardians, may assist in teaching sex education to children but this should always be a subject that is by permission from the parents/guardians only. Sexuality is an incredibly sensitive, moral, religious and personal subject matter and school districts may only become involved when deemed appropriate and requested by those ultimately responsible for children, the parents.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Physical and emotional health outcomes contraceptive methods consent abstinence human anatomy/the reproductive system

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Neutral

Our framework of limited government was established on Judeo-Christian values, however I don't believe these are necessary for a continued moral framework. Objective ethics can exist outside of a religious framework and give the same result supporting limited government.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

ABOUT YOU

Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?

OBJECTIVE 1: Parents will be full partners with educators in the education of their children. We MUST encourage the parents and the community to be involved with the education of this district's children. Children live balanced lives with much of their time spent in education and much of their time spent at home. Without parent partnerships, only half of the equation is balanced. This objective goes beyond parents and implores extended family, neighbors and the community at large to be involved.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Libertarian. Stay out of my life I'll stay out of yours. For our school district, teach the kids the basics, then get out of their lives. Focus on reading, writing, math and history. No indoctrination.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Just google Bonnie Anderson + Katy ISD

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

If you're tired of the rubber stampers on the Katy ISD Board of Trustees, I'm your Huckleberry.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Disagree

The schools in our district should be participating in the Texas School Marshal Program https://www.tcole.texas.gov/content/school-marshals

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

None ever. Vaccines protect only those who receive the vaccine. An unvaccinated child poses absolutely no threat to a vaccinated child. Schools should NEVER be allowed to mandate medical choices for children.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

Masking children violates Texas Education Code 37.0023 https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/ED/htm/ED.37.htm
