EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
The local school board has a vital role in overseeing public education on the local level. The school board is comprised of elected citizens that set priorities, policies, and practices that reflect the values of the community. The school board plays an important role in providing oversight of the administration and holds the administration accountable to the community. Local school boards should be transparent with the community and fiscally responsible with taxpayer education dollars.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The school board has the authority to set curriculum for the district and to determine resources used in those curricula. The school board should implement curricular policies that reflect the community's values and priorities. Local school boards should be careful not to implement policies that reflect national political trends that are antithetical to the local community's values.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
Language Arts, Math, Science, American History, Physical Fitness, Art & Music, Foreign Language, Vocational Learning.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Our state should participate in the nationwide Common Core standards for high-school graduation.
Strongly Disagree
Schools should use Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and resources to teach emotions, values, and relationships.
No Answer
I support the teaching of the 1619 Project emphasizing slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Strongly Disagree
When students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Strongly Agree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
I think that parents should be primarily responsible for teaching sexual education to their children at an age that they feel appropriate based on the child.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

2ND AMENDMENT

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Do you support mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school?
I think there should be robust exemptions for families who have religious or other conscience-based objections to mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school.
ABOUT YOU
Why are you running for this office?
Our family chose Southlake because of its schools and community. I've spent much of my life teaching and advocating for educational excellence and other values my family holds dear. That journey has taken me through Princeton to the U.S. Supreme Court and to Texas. As a mother of four Dragons, nothing is more important to me than ensuring the next generation is equipped to learn, lead, and succeed. I'm running for School Board because I am passionate about promoting CISD's excellence in academics, athletics, and other activities. As a School Board Trustee, I commit to building the brightest future possible for our beloved Dragons.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Strongly Disagree
Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?
OBJECTIVE 1: Parents will be full partners with educators in the education of their children.
What books have had the most profound impact on your view of life?
The Bible.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
With degrees in education policy and law, I have dealt with many of the educational and legal issues that face public schools. I will bring that educational and legal expertise to my service as a School Board Trustee. For Carroll ISD, I have served on the School Board Budget and Finance Committee, the School Board Student Health Advisory Committee, the new superintendent focus group, and as a PTO volunteer. In our community, I serve as a church youth group leader, a Cub Scout leader, on the board of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra’s Parents Guild, and support my kids’ teams in swimming, football, and baseball.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Very Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Thank you!
