QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Choose not to answer

I have personal views and beliefs when it comes to abortion but as a member of a governing body that represents all people I do not feel it is my place to impose my personal beliefs. Yet it is my job to reflect the values of the community in which we serve and to provide care for every student on our campuses.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Choose not to answer

See answer 1.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Choose not to answer

In the role of a Trustee on the Board of Education the economics in which we are involved with is budgeting to ensure our students have all they need for academic success and that our employees are well compensated. I will allow free enterprise and private property to be handled by ones individual beliefs.

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Choose not to answer

School Districts should be able to use the money allotted by tax payers to do everything necessary to ensure all of our students learning needs are met. I do not know if I would classify this as "lobbying" but it does behoove us to work in collaboration with our law makers to ensure we are providing the best possible education.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I want to see us as Americans make strong investments in our public education sector. I want to see the U.S. be the number one in the world in education and I want to see Texas be number one in the country in regards to leading out in education. That takes resources and I feel this needs to be prioritized because it makes our entire society better when we have the ability to be well educated. If we invest in public education we will see innovation, entrepreneurship, and an amazing workforce to keep this country leading the world. Education should be our top funding priority in my opinion because public education touches each one of our lives either directly or indirectly.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Choose not to answer

I believe that each student should be able to live out the truth that their parents, family, and community instills in them. In public education it is my belief that we must focus on academic and talent interest. Students should be empowered to use their voices as they choose while also learning that it is not up to us to impose our view upon others. This can be accomplished and simultaneously they can be proud of what they individually believe.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Choose not to answer

School Districts should not discriminate period.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The Board will convey the vision and values of the greater community. The board will serve as liaisons to the community to be able to see where our focus areas should be. The Board is there to hire or fire but mostly evaluate the superintendent’s performance. The Board should hold accountable and empower the superintendent to have our students thrive and succeed.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

Curriculum should be led by the Chief Academic Officer under the direction of the Superintendent.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Parents should never be restricted from speaking at school board meetings. Public comment is for the public and should be used by all that choose to use it.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

The number one priority has to be the academic disciplines such as Language and Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. I would not say one of the disciplines are necessarily more important than the others but you will need to read to be able to accomplish the others. There are other subjects that can compliment those to lead to a well rounded student but the priority has to be the essential academic disciplines. .

Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.

I believe that the founding principle of America is freedom. America began by people fleeing tyranny and persecution and we still have people fighting for freedom for all to this very day.

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

Equity in education means that who or whatever needs the most gets the most. The most time, attention and resources so that all may succeed.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Choose not to answer

Yes we do have opt-in options in Fort Worth ISD

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Choose not to answer

In my opinion we have to work together along the city, county, state and federal lines. School Boards need autonomy in many cases because we are affecting the lives of those immediately around us. However, we are still citizens of the city, reside in our county, have pride in our state, and are still a part of our national education structure. Federal dollars should be coming into local school systems if we care about education as a country.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Choose not to answer

Parents should do what they feel is best for their child absolutely.

School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.

Choose not to answer

School boards are accountable to students, parents, taxpayers, educators, and the greater community.

Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?

Choose not to answer

Students should only have access to materials that are appropriate for their grade level and age. Students should be able to learn about anatomy, biology, and have proper sexual education so they can remain knowledgeable and safe but that should not depict graphic sexual acts.

All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.

Choose not to answer

We should ensure transparency and communication with parents and guardians so that they can always know what their child is learning and able to access.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that we are all created in the image of God and that God loved us so much that he was willing to give of his very self. I also believe that God is love and we should all act accordingly.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Choose not to answer

I want to provide opportunities for all students to be able to participate in athletics safely.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Choose not to answer

I believe school officials need to show respect and courtesy at all times. School officials should get to know an individual and meet the needs of the individual to ensure their success.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Choose not to answer

We have to ensure we involve parents or guardians in all matters of healthcare or treatment no matter what.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Ultimately parents or guardians are responsible for the education of children period. Education whether sexual or otherwise is the responsibility of the home and is supplemented and supported by schools. Schools have a role we can play in ensuring that our young people have accurate, researched, scientific information about human sexuality teaching them proper terms and functions. I believe a person can begin to learn at any age as long as the lessons are age appropriate. There are conversations that I can have with my 14 year old that I have not had with my 9 year old. The biggest thing is to ensure that parents and guardians have the option of deciding whether they will like their child to participate. Some parents have certain talks earlier than others and some feel their children are ready for some information and some feel their children may not be. If the parent gets to decide for their child then we got it right. As a parent I would like the option to choose.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Sexual Education should teach accurate, researched information with proper terminology to equip our young people with correct knowledge for their health needs.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Choose not to answer

Although I consider myself a Christian our first amendment of our constitution grants freedom of religion. Government should always be inclusive. Government should by the people and for the people and that is inclusive of all religious beliefs and that is a fundamental American belief.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Choose not to answer

People should be able to vote as long as they can identify themselves.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No I have not.

A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Choose not to answer

A candidate's personal moral values can give you insight into who they are. Once in elected office one must remember that they represent all the people and that many times can mean some in which you happen to disagree as well.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

I do not subscribe to any of those particular labels. Depending on the situation at hand I can find myself leaning in several different directions.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I would like voters to know that I am serious about enriching the lives of the young people in Fort Worth. It has been an incredible honor to serve on the Board of Education and I do not take lightly the responsibility. School Boards are one of the few elected offices where one can actually be non-partisan. We as Board members get to focus on kids and how to help them reach their full potential. If re-elected I plan to keep pushing Fort Worth towards the gains we have been making and leaving no doubt that we have the best and brightest students and educators right here in our city.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Choose not to answer

We need to keep our children and employees safe so if there are any firearms present on campus they should only be in the possession of law enforcement.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

Schools have always required certain medical requirements to attend. Even when I was in school I had to have updated shot records in order to enroll and attend. Schools need to work with the medical community to make sound decisions about what will keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

I support mask mandates.

Choose not to answer

I support districts taking proper measures to ensure campus safety and health.

All official open meetings should be live streamed, recorded, and have transcripts available online for public access.

Choose not to answer

All official open meetings are live streamed and recorded.

All votes should be roll call votes and recorded in meeting minutes.
