QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only if the mother would die if she were to carry the child to term, but my physician friends tell me that with today's medical advances this would be extremely rare.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
That is a difficult decision without seeing the budget and doing further research. I expect to go line-by-line through the budget to find waste. We all know that it exists.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It is clearly defined as the state shall not establish a state religion and shall not forbid the free exercise of religion. We have seen a steady tightening of the government on the churches and we must stand up to that overreach.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I helped write this proposal with the Jobs Creators Network and Physicians for Reform. www.healthcareforyou.com I think it sums it up best.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Though this issue is handled at the federal level and enforced at the state level, I believe that those decisions must be made. We can't have open borders or we have no country. We must encourage the brightest who can contribute to our economy and the country's prosperity to immigrate here, but we have always been a nation that welcomes those fleeing persecution. We must revert to previous policy that required those seeking asylum to have a family or sponsor to vouch for them to help them get a job, learn the language and assimilate into our culture. We must seek to keep those who want to harm our country from immigrating here.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again, spirit filled Christian who began teaching Sunday School at age 15. I taught young girls the Missionette program through the Assembly of God program. My son is a worship pastor. I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. There is one sovereign God and his son's name is Jesus who died, rose and lives at the right hand of the Father. Jesus is our savior and only through his shed blood and our confession of faith can we be born again and enter Heaven. My faith in God affects my daily walk and interactions with others. We are to be Christ like and exhibit the fruits of the spirit.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have testified on and assisted writing policy in three states, including Kansas that is free market based with less government regulation. I helped advise two presidents on conservative health care policy and helped author the current Republican Study Committee proposal on health care.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
As a former teacher who home-schooled my youngest of our four children, I can address education issues. As a former real estate broker and family of entrepreneurs, I am aware of the concerns of small business owners. As a health insurance agent for 17 years, I have advised our legislature and former governor's on health care and education policy and testified on bills in several committees to push toward legislation that allows the free market to flourish.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a Christian wife, mom, teacher, and business owner who has spent my life helping people. As their senator, I will continue to watch out for any bills that go against our constitution and infringe upon our God given rights
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We do not need more restrictions in Kansas.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) the life amendment 2) Resolution signed by legislators to expand health savings accounts to encourage the federal government to send authority over the private insurance market back to states and remove the federal layer of regulations that are a barrier to that. Currently I do not have a 3rd area but expect I will be spending most of my time fighting back the governor's agenda.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is sad and only through the Church and love of Christ can we heal any racism in our country. As to if it is a threat to security, yes, when protests turn to unprosecuted violence.
