OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Very narrow exceptions should be allowed, but should include protecting the life of the mother, and provable rape or incest.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Agree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Lowering unemployment requires a comprehensive approach that includes reducing regulation and taxation; enhancing educational opportunities; and taking steps to attract businesses with good-paying, high opportunity positions. There is no magic bullet to economic development, but a multifaceted approach is essential.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The best thing the government can do is to stop trying to do everything. The next best thing is to reduce taxation on families and businesses and give the free market space to work.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Simply, with the free market. If legislation is required, it should not be in omnibus form like the ACA/Obamacare, but with precise measures that address specific issues, while taking a big picture into account.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Agree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.
Agree
I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
Strongly Disagree
If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.
Strongly Disagree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind is hardwired to seek and preserve individual liberty. Our nation and, indeed, our Constitution, are designed to protect this basic human instinct.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I believe Jesus was the Son of God, made of flesh, who lived among us, taught us how to better live, and died for my sins. He rose from the dead, conquering death for all who follow Him. My personal values are built upon that foundation.
ABOUT YOU
I voted in these elections:
2012 Primary, 2012 General Election, 2014 Primary, 2014 General Election, 2016 Primary, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary, 2018 General Election
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have received multiple awards that will validate my conservative credentials. I can't recall them all, but just glancing around my office I hold three Outstanding Family Advocate awards from Louisiana Family Forum; two Family Advocate Awards from Louisiana Family Forum; the Dave Treen Award, presented by the Republican Party of St. Tammany Parish; and three Legis-Gator Business Champion Awards. From my 12 years in the Louisiana Legislature, there are many others.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have been a small business-owner for decades and am a financial advisor and planner. I and my staff manage a portfolio of over $50 million. I am a husband (married 38 years) and father of two successful adult children, both of whom graduated from public schools and universities. I have the ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously, and the professional training and skills to understand complex fiscal issues. All of these skills and experiences will be valuable in my service on the Public Service Commission.
