OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I would love to see a world without abortion, but in certain circumstances, it may be necessary, such as to save a woman's life, or in cases of rape or incest.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
All of it.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state is a misnomer. It was quoted in a letter by Thomas Jefferson, but is found nowhere in our constitution. The first amendment says that congress will not make a religion and it will not prevent anyone from exercising their own religion. Seems pretty cut and dried to me. This whole movement of avoid anything having to do with God in a government setting, is not constitutional, in my mind.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe in the free market. Personal health savings accounts with catastrophic coverage, might be one way to go. I am not an expert in health care, and would be open to reading and learning about many offered solutions. It is a complicated issue, but ultimately, I believe the government must get out of the health care decisions.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Neutral
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe the free markets should dictate who comes to this country. Solid border security, to force people to come in through our legal ports of entry should be in place, but everyone should be able to come in, as long as they will not become a burden to taxpayers.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a christian, but became disillusioned with a particular church that I had attended for years. I have not found another church yet, so my faith has been a relatively private experience for the past couple of years.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am more fiscally conservative but socially liberal, and have no way to validate that information. You may check my facebook page, or just take my word that I am telling the truth.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
This seems like a loaded question. I am currently pursuing my degree in Business Administration, but am on the deans list, hold a 4.0 GPA, and am a Phi Theta Kapa member. Does this make me smart enough? I've been working full time for the the past 36 years, and have gained most of my knowledge through real-life experiences.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Never
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am not a politician. I have no desire to be a politician. I chose to run for office because my district needed someone with some common sense to represent them in Lansing. I believe, for the most part, political parties are corrupt and I am tired of politicians putting party ahead of their constituents. I am running a s libertarian, because I think my views most closely align with their stated platform, but I am not beholden to them, and will always put the citizens of the 104th above anything ever having to do with a political party. If I am elected, I will only serve one term, and then look to endorse another, common, every day Joe, who feels like they want to serve the people for a term. Career politicians are not good for the state or the country, and I vow to never become one.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Our current restrictions are already enough. We do not have a gun problem in this country. We have a mental health problem.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
I will sponsor legislation that removes or reduces government burdens or restrictions on small businesses. I will sponsor any legislation that limits the governor's powers to rule by executive order beyond what is approved by the legislature. I will sponsor any bill that limits the size and scope of government in people's every day lives.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a horrible thing, and must be weeded out of all areas of life, however, even with the current political climate, I do not believe that racism is as prevalent and wide-spread as the media is making it out to be. When examples of racism are found, they must be stopped. If we find a racist police officer, he must be removed from the force. This doesn't mean that the police, as a whole, are racist. Find the probelms and deal with them. Most of humanity is filled with caring and decent people.
